My experience exactly! The higher the level of the sport/ athlete, the more bullshit and vodoo goes on. The athletes like being sold on the weirdest, non-sensical ‘methods’. Anything that highlights their elite status.

1/3 I've participated as part of the medical team (physio) on several international championships in athletics, both senior and junior level. I look around at all the non-evidence based treatments and recovery methods fysio apply, and here I am trying to be evidnece based.

Just out of curiosity, what yardstick Would you use to determine who the best physiotherapist is/Are?

Is she shaving his arm pit? If I rid that to a patient, I would have no idea how to justify that in the patient journal

I’d argue physiotherapists operate at the highest order of complexity, and learning about complexity theory and our limitations in controlling the challenges humans face would really help the cause. I’m still learning about its importance in the performance engineering realm.

The edge cases with general population, there sits your challenge! …great point.

There should be respect instead of disrespect. Every population has its challenges and benefits. With general population you can make big changes in a short period of time. With the highest level of athletes, a little change/intervention can make a huge difference.

What is disrespectful in what I have said here? I think it’s more disrespectful to assume that the best Physio’s work with athletes!
