'Would you commit to looking at supporting vulnerable high users which would ease the path for Ofgem to reduce standing charges for everybody?' Martin Lewis questions the Secretary of State for Energy Security, Claire Coutinho, over our energy bills

@MartinSLewis My energy supplier is OVO. I am in credit by £2,300 but I am being told by them that this money helps the company support people in arrears. Hold on this is MY money not theirs & I want it back!

@MartinSLewis Disabled and sick people have higher energy bills due to the medical equipment they need on a daily basis. But the government keeps attacking these vulnerable people at every opportunity. So, is she going to do something? No, she's just giving lip service. Disgusting #Tories.

@MartinSLewis I hate the fact that even when I'm away overnight I still have to make sure I have money in my meter for standing charges even though I'm not using any power.

@MartinSLewis God forbid they help people.

@MartinSLewis That would be a no then? They have not taken out the premium on prepayment meters at all, they allowed companies to raise the standing charge, well over inflation, on everyone's bills so they get way more now!!

@MartinSLewis Standing charges are tantamount to highway robbery. Paying out for little if anything in return. Any improvements in infrastructure is simply requested of the government whilst standing charges top up shareholders dividends. MP shareholders at that

@MartinSLewis I doubt it. During the peak of the Cost of Living Crisis they gave disabled people a £150 payment 🎉 but then took away the £140 Warm Home Discount for those on PIP!

@MartinSLewis What on Earth is she doing as energy secretary FFS 😡

@MartinSLewis Energy profits tell another story

@MartinSLewis She is a Duck Billed Platitude. There is so much that could be done to reduce bills, but her vested interests would loose out. She is toast come the election. You need to be talking to whoever is taking over.
