It's worth mentioning that the majority of scholars classify 'not praying' as abandoning the prayer completely. Only then does one leave the fold. If he prays sometimes and doesn’t pray at other times, he is a major sinner fasiq, but he does not exit islam. This was also the view of al-Imam ibn Uthaymeen r.A).

I think at this rate most parents would be kicking their kids out. 😅 However, setting a good example and lots of duas by parents led me to start praying when i was in my thirties.
