WoW forever is going to have horizontal progression instead of vertical. Here’s me explaining what that means:

GW tried it. Don’t see this working long term

Simply put : Vertical progression : numbers get bigger because enemies have bigger numbers you need to take down. Horizontal progression : you get more tools or ability combinations to create your own playstyle and enemies are tuned towards using those tools and abilities.

So basically old school RuneScape

so its basically follows guildwars 2

Imo they will probably just scale gear like they did with levels. Probably needing tiered gear to be viable in newer raids. While using pre-raid BIS might be techinically possible, you wouldn't have the dmg or survivability for new raid tiers. Just my guess

I liked those raids and situations in Vanilla where special resistance gear etc. was required for certain bosses. Hope they expand on that.

This is fantastic because the devs will be forced to create gear with different stats rather than higher stats. Creating gear with different stats could open up the possibility if trying different builds within a class.

Eu gosto desse modelo!

New gear in new areas that changes my gameplay style. Gear just the same strength but in a different way. GIVE MY ROGUE GOOD FIST WEAPONS!!!

That will get old fast. Plus elitist will rule the raids. Just like old times. They will only take certain people into the raids. Rest will get left out to struggle.

how much you wanna bet that the new tier of raids is gonna offer higher ilvl gear?

Holy shit you're still alive and streaming? lol

Olympus or /uninstall faggot

Call me pessimistic, but they are never gonna pull that off. Sounds like another way of saying “your old gear is still good for old content (60) but you’ll need new gear for new content (70)”.

How long did you spend polishing that axe head? Hollyyyy it’s a blinding light

My only contention with that is I would either have to make frequent stops at the bank to retrieve alternate gear or lug it around with me.

So they want us to carry multiple sets like a druid? And seasonal gear?

Nah it wont work like that, devs already said some sort of minimal verticality IS needed, old gear will be outdated in few years not in few months

it’s revolutionary, this is how it was meant to be played, we just wished it looked this beautiful back then, and it still is regardless how lowpoly it can be.

I’d prefer a vertical gear progression where periodically gear becomes available at vendors that allows players to catch up. Kind of like what they do with arena seasons in tbc. Except instead of selling the old raid gear, it should be a different set that is competitive but not quite as strong. This would incentivize players to still play the old raids while not being overly outmatched to players with BIS gear.

So what happens in 2 years when everyone is in naxx gear and I level a new char? Do I have to get boosted? Do I need to progress through mc? Will they add catchup gear that makes gear from places like mc redundant anyway?

More situational gear needs more bag/bank space.

If new gear is more powerful its not horizontal irrespective of level cap.

So horizontal progression means my Tamagotchi’s hunger bar goes sideways now, but it still dies if I forget to feed it.

I do not trust blizzard to work horizontal progression into wow, they can't just copy paste the osrs model because the games are too different.

Guessing?. Pretty sure no one knows for sure.

I don't see it being exciting or popular. People want loot to chase, not stay in the same gear 'forever' with different stats. Carrying around multiple gear sets sounds horrible. Collecting it for niche use cases sounds tedious. Will wait and see but I don't see the vision.

Want to make a note here that some 60 gear wasn’t completely outdated by 70 gear. There were several pieces which were usable at 70 and replacements were hard to find and in some cases in the rerelease had to be nerfed because they were too good.

There will be some level of vertical progression. There has to be. Not even OSRS has pure horizontal progression, because that doesn't work. Barrows armor and Bandos armor are still used to this day and farmed, however they are objectively weaker than something like Torva.

It means once the honeymoo period is over, people will want more than level 60. Happened on vanilla, will happen here

It's not a bad plan and I fully support how they're going about it. I still hate Blizz but they're seemingly doing good work.... Hoping they're healing...

I remember getting full Netherwind gear and the Staff of the Shadowflame in Vanilla, then going to Burning Crusade and replacing it all with greens. Hopefully this is more like, say, Elden Ring with tons of viable gear that does various things but anything can be good.

They need to loosely follow DDO’s model for gear I think. Standing Stone Games has done a fantastic job with gearing considering almost all gear from all raids is still viable even as level cap slowly increases.

Yeah just look at GW2.
