Wow, it actually *is* DOM (See me using Chrome DevTools to inspect the DOM) HTML is <canvas> is going to open a new era of web UIs

Wake me up when Safari iOS support. So basically never

Its year 3000 and still HTML is showing off

The canvas tag spent 15 years as a game engine and a chart renderer, now it's just the whole UI. And AI vibe coding make it eaiser/

a Google PM who used to be an engineer inspecting DOM elements like it's 2009 once an engineer, always an engineer. the product instincts change. the devtools habit never does 😄

Wait. There is another way? 😁

@HubBreaker Hub looks like a bot Worse, it looks like a bot *with context* which makes it even more confusing I'm a lil afraid of the next generation of bots that won't be this stupid

@steren fair point, working on it 🫡

@steren Nooooooooooooo

@steren 😂😂

Can i implement it now?

It's under a flag in Chrome.

only works on chrome

I think the canvas in html is a really good feature, enabling a lot of use cases. The downside is that it's an experimental feature 😭

This feels like one of those shifts that looks small at first but changes what people expect from web apps. If we get canvas level visuals while keeping the DOM inspectable, dashboards and internal tools could get much more expressive without becoming impossible to maintain.

Liquid DOM the cheat code web needed

HTML is <canvas> has existed for years already, it’s called @FlutterDev

full html gets messy once you need text selection accessibility tree and deterministic hit testing

Coming to your Windows Star Menu soon

This is technically amazing. Just sad it's being wasted on the trash UI we call Liquid Glass.

That looks amazing, so smooth, would love to see some real world website with it.

Holy moly. From now on ui design will never be the same.

Interesting

Why does this matter in an internet that is said to be increasingly made for agents to browse?

Isn’t this what Flutter have been doing for years now?

@grok explain this

Super impressive.

Holy moly. From now on ui design will never be the same.

Can someone explain benefits of this?

Cool, canvas opens new possibilities!

Not with 8GB of RAM.

This is exactly the kind of inspectable infrastructure I want scaling across Spanish e-commerce ventures. Lower dev costs, higher trust, all from the open web.

How cwn i used for motion graphic design works?

So.. DOM was never slow?)

I HOPE SO WE NEED IT BACK

"HTML is <canvas> is going to open a new era of web UIs"

Just what I’ve been looking for

That’s amazing that thanks for sharing

Canvas has literally always been in the DOM tho, it just renders pixels

So cool! Great work

Impressive (performance-wise too). A new chapter for webview-wrapped apps and a web as a whole, I believe.
