I purchased a Bob Timberlake Lexington King bed frame 20 years. To this day it’s as solid as a rock. My children wanted Restoration Hardware bedroom furniture. I obliged. RH has beautiful furniture, not trying to knock them. But the difference in quality is incomparable. You would think their bedroom sets were purchased from a thrift store!

Speaking from experience, the quality difference is huge. The Carolinas used to be the furniture hub of the US until it was outsourced to the east, China and Vietnam. The Amish do a pretty good piece of furniture. Like Japan's steel industry ( which we rebuilt state of the art after WW2) we supplied the engineering and expertise to build western furniture in mass that eliminated the Carolina legacy. Good to see it coming back.

🚨 China just announced — on Saturday, after Trump’s Beijing summit — that it will reduce tariffs on American farm products. This is being framed as a Trump trade win. Here is the part that framing leaves out. US farm exports to China collapsed 65.7% last year. They fell to $8.4 billion. China had been one of the top three buyers of American crops. Trump’s tariffs closed that market. China retaliated with its own tariffs. American farmers lost a year of sales while Brazil and Argentina took the business. Brazil’s soybean exports to China hit a record 85 million metric tons in 2025. Today’s “win” is China agreeing to partly reopen the door the US closed.

China doesn’t play fair, and it’s time we stop letting them get away with it. For decades, they’ve STOLEN intellectual property from American companies, including mine, and used it to UNDERCUT us in our own markets. They’ve broken every promise they made when they joined the World Trade Organization, and we’ve just looked the other way. That ends NOW. The Trump administration just announced a 90-day pause on global tariffs, EXCEPT for China. Their tariff is going up to 125%. That’s a start… but it’s NOT ENOUGH. My plan? 400% TARIFFS on Chinese imports. PERIOD. Not because I’m against China. I’m not. I want to do business there. You can't replace income tax with tariffs unless you're charging more than 20%. That's too much. It's inflationary. Tariffs are short-term weapons to rebalance trade. India's a great example. They've had 110% tariffs on automotive going into India, and now the Indians have come to the White House and said, "Okay, let’s redo this. We'll work out a deal." And if we end up with zero tariffs with India or 10% each way, that's a good thing. But tariffs in themselves will not solve the deficit because they just cause prices to go up. I think Trump knows that, but it's great short-term weaponry and wow, is it ever working right now. The whole world keeps showing up at the White House. If they pen a deal with India, that'll become the template for all the other countries. Boom, the market goes up. We all want to see that. It's time. No administration's ever tried to negotiate 60 trade deals at once. This is crazy chicken stuff, but if you're gonna go for it, go for it.
