One day she will actually be able to say something without obfuscating. She has never said anything straightforward.

It’s going to be a Windows 11 PC with a fullscreen app. Not good or bad persé but it’s time that Microsoft is just going to explain the future instead of being vague.

I hope it's a bit more than just that!

@JoeBlack2k Microsoft has been the leader in backwards compatibility for a while, so at a minimum I would expect them to carry that forward. A pc can't currently do that (and for license reasons probably never will)

@tomwarren I think the license just states that the software can only run on a “console” and that is what is fluïde since a few years. On the Xbox series the backwards compatible mode is just a virtual machine booting into xbox/360 has been documented well by the developers

@number305 @tomwarren Yeah that’s wat we all “want” me to.. but I don’t think Microsoft is going to do that.. take off your “this would be cool” hat and think like Microsoft

@number305 @tomwarren Microsoft I know really loves money, windows copilot and ai, I also think backwards compatibility will come to Windows 11 with digital games

Xbox: Bought. Xbox 360: Bought. Xbox One: Bought. Xbox Series X|S: Bought, twice. Next Xbox: Not buying. Good luck, Xbox. You'll need it.

She doesn't understand what she's doing. Like the entire Xbox management. To sell hardware without exclusives, you need a top ecosystem and service like Valve's, but even Steam has exclusives. Xbox's strategy is a losing one from the very beginning.

It's not just hardware. It's software too - without solid highly acclaimed games, you cannot be an interesting party. The industry has not shown interest into Xbox for 12 years running. Until Xbox sits down and makes good games, they will not be a strong contender.

As they've been saying over and over and over. Yet people buy random internet rumors saying they're leaving the hardware space simply because it's what they want to be true.

I remember when Xbox was cool. This lady has had so much PR training she forgot how to be human. Would be great to see more startups trying to build a better console.

And yet, there will be videos of grifters and other PS Fanboys saying the Xbox is out of hardware. Again.

Literally the concept itself is a gamer’s dream. Just hope they polish the experience and hardware enough by then

It's either going to be a super expensive high-end niche thing or a streaming box. Calling it.

These people are so fake. For a decade now they’ve been saying one thing and doing something completely different. Xbox is out of the hardware game. They may release new hardware but they’ve given up on competing.

The problem with Xbox, is they have lost trust from Xbox gamers. They have back tracked and said things in the past that has changed. I don’t believe her. That is where I am at as a life long fan.

MS needs to work on a version of Windows that is 100% gaming focused (rumors say they are?). Have it work with controller or m/k for both xbox and pc gamers, able to be used at a desk or plugged into a TV, exactly what Valve has done with SteamOS. This is the way.

I never thought id see the day xbox fails so fucking hard it crashes out of gaming and do you really think that gamepass is going to be your bread and butter. Because if the console fails xbox is dead id rather just buy a pc and play the same games on steam new gaming service

No one cares about these statements. Very clearly Hardware is not “absolutely core” for Xbox. If it was they would have fully shut down when Xbox Series stated underperforming even the Xbox One. You can say hardware is important and at least A focus for Xbox but Xbox execs have…
