Let’s get one thing straight before they gaslight you into swallowing this. This is NOT just about “age verification” so kids can’t scroll TikTok. The under-16s social media ban, and the under-18s VPN ban, is digital verification for everyone; because the only way to enforce it is to make every single person prove their age, prove their identity, and “check in” with the State before accessing the modern internet. And yes… you already know where it leads. OneLogin. A centralised identity system designed to collect your credentials and your biometrics (face, iris, fingerprint) and bind them to a single government account. This ban is not the end goal. It is one verification type. One tiny draconian token. One single piece of the Digital ID puzzle. And the equation remains the same: OneLogin + GOV Wallet = Digital ID. Age verification will become one token on that wallet, but first, before the wallet is fully normalised, before it’s “rolled out” to every citizen through exclusion and coercion, they’ll do what they always do: They’ll introduce the gate first. To access a VPN, a social media site, or even an AI tool, you will be forced to “prove” you are over 16 or 18 — and the proof won’t be a private check, or a local device setting, or a parental control. It will be a government check. A government login. A government permission slip. You will have to “check in” with GOV OneLogin to access the internet like a normal person — and soon enough a token for this will be issued into the GOV Wallet, just like the proposed BritCard token that has now allegedly been “scrapped.” This is the same system, the same architecture, the same rollout pattern... just with a different sticker slapped on the front. And once the token exists, it becomes the default. Once it becomes the default, it becomes the requirement. Once it becomes the requirement, it becomes the leash. Because what they’re building is not an age gate. It’s a permission gate. A surveillance gate. A system where your ability to access platforms, services, information, communication — your ability to exist online — becomes conditional on your compliance with a credential check that is logged, tracked, and centrally controlled. They will see what you do. When you do it. What you search. What you access. What you post. And people will still be saying, with a straight face: “Well, it’s a good thing under-16s are being banned from social media… they’ll be safer.” That’s the bait. Then you hear Starmer say: “How will parents police this alone?” And notice what he’s really saying. He is not empowering parents. He is positioning the government next to parents, granting the State the same “authority” to parent your child, to decide what is healthy, what is harmful, what is permitted, what is “wellbeing,” and what must be restricted. The same government that has lied to you for years about safety. The same government that signs away your rights in the name of protection. The same government that cannot define a woman, cannot secure a border, cannot arrest a p3dophile (rather employs and promotes them), cannot run a hospital — but somehow wants you to believe it can be trusted to police your child’s mind. And if you think this is going through “proper process,” think again. A month ago they announced a consultation on the under-16s ban. That consultation is a red herring. Because Starmer’s little phrase “Fast Track” is just PR language for something much uglier: Henry VIII powers. Powers that allow ministers to change legislation without parliamentary scrutiny, without debate, without any democratic friction. And that means the actual rules — the ones that govern your data, your access, your verification, your wallet, your permissions — will not be written on the floor of the House. They will be written by an unelected civil servant in a closed room, and rubber-stamped by a Secretary of State. The consultation is not democracy. It is the hologram of democracy. Designed to make you feel heard while the law is already coded, the architecture already built, and the enforcement mechanism already chosen. And it gets worse. Because this ban is being routed through the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill; a bill that will receive Royal Assent before the consultation even ends. So what exactly are you “consulting” on? A decision that’s already been made. A system that’s already being implemented. A lock that’s already being installed on your front door while they ask you what colour you’d like the handle to be. Then there’s the Unique Identifier for ALL children. They will sell it as “tracking attendance.” But it isn’t an attendance system. It is a digital tether. A permanent state identifier for your child, designed to follow them across systems, databases, services, education, healthcare, “wellbeing,” behavioural monitoring, and digital permissions. And once you combine a Unique Identifier with digital tokens, with “digital wellbeing” regulation, with AI-driven scoring, you have built something monstrous: A system where a child’s “Wellbeing Score” can drop — determined by government-approved metrics, possibly processed by government AI — and the State can remotely revoke their digital tokens. Effectively deleting their social existence until they comply. No access. No platform. No digital participation. No “privileges.” Just compliance. And here’s the part people are missing: They are granting themselves the power to amend the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill without proper parliamentary scrutiny and without waiting for the consultation to end. They are giving the Secretary of State delegated powers to regulate “digital wellbeing” which is a euphemism so broad you could drive an authoritarian regime through it. They can amend laws at any time. They can expand definitions at any time. They can widen the net at any time. Meaning the Prime Minister and Secretaries of State become the architects and the judges. The lawmakers and the enforcers. And Henry VIII powers are named after a tyrant for a reason. Because they were designed for a monarch who forced Parliament to pass laws and accept personal proclamations. That is the lineage of the power Starmer is dressing up as “Fast Tracking.” This isn’t safeguarding. It’s centralisation. And it doesn’t stop there. The other legislation being pulled into this system is the Crime and Policing Bill which is progressing as we speak and the Online Safety Act 2023 — both of which contain mechanisms to expand and amend enforcement without passing fresh primary legislation. Meaning they can tighten the screws without the public ever noticing. No new “big scary bill.” No headline. No national debate. Just silent regulatory expansion. A little more coercion. A little more surveillance. A little more permissioning. Until one day you wake up and the internet — the place you work, learn, communicate, bank, shop, organise, speak, and live — requires you to present a government token just to enter. And you’ll be told it’s normal. You’ll be told it’s safety. You’ll be told it’s “for the children.” This consultation is a farce. The law is being passed. Age verification for all will be forced upon us unless we act now, and unless people stop staring at the headline and start seeing the architecture. This is not even the start of mission creep. This is another step. Another spoke. Another token. Another gate. And yes, there are other ways to improve online safety. Every person over 16 is issued with a National Insurance number. There are privacy-preserving options. There are local-device checks. There are non-centralised approaches. But that is not the point. Because the point is not safety. The point is control. This is part of the digital gulag. The panopticon. A credentialed society where your ability to participate is conditional, permissioned, and revocable... and where the State holds the master key. Token positions are pooled, and a subset of positions is sampled. Keys and values are processed separately. Quantization and bit allocation are the core differentiators versus simpler PCA truncation. PCA provides ordered components by variance; kvtc uses DP to allocate a global bit budget across PCA coordinates (and across groups of coordinates) to minimize reconstruction error in the decorrelated domain. Groups of subsequent PCA coordinates share 16-bit shift and scale factors (a microscaling-inspired design), and the DP algorithm jointly selects group size and precision type under a bit budget, including the overhead of per-group metadata. DP commonly assigns 0 bits to many trailing PCA components, which both increases compression and provides a mechanism to trim the PCA basis to the subset of components that actually carry payload, reducing compute and storage overhead of the projection matrices in deployment. Lossless entropy coding then exploits the structure induced by quantization. Results are averaged over 8 runs with large variance, but a key inference is that kvtc at ~9×–21× compression achieves broadly similar AIME scores within variance bands, while coding performance remains stable at ~9× and degrades more visibly at ~18×–21× on the 7B model. An important nuance is that smaller reasoning models already have smaller KV footprints (reported ~29KiB/token for Qwen R1 1.5B versus 131KiB/token for Llama 3.1 8B), so the economic value of aggressive KV cache compression is proportionally higher for large models and long contexts than for small models with short contexts, unless the serving system’s bottleneck is dominated by cache transfer rather than HBM capacity. Multi-GPU inference and pipeline parallel For Llama 3.3 70B Instruct run pipeline-parallel across 4 GPUs (20 layers per GPU), the paper compresses KV cache chunks independently per GPU. On MATH-500, the reported accuracy declines from 75.6 (vanilla) to 74.4 at 10× and 72.6 at 20×, with standard errors near ~1.9. NIAH and LITM remain at 100.0 for all tested ratios in that table. The paper notes that joint compression across chunks could improve accuracy for some offload scenarios but is not required for feasibility, highlighting an engineering trade-off between deployment simplicity in distributed settings and optimal global compression. Latency and TTFT economics A critical system result is the measured compression/decompression latency on an H100 for a non-fused implementation. For Mistral NeMo 12B in bfloat16: BS=8, CTX=8K: compression 379ms, decompression 267ms; vanilla recompute TTFT 3098ms; kvtc decompression TTFT 380ms BS=2, CTX=16K: compression 194ms, decompression 143ms; vanilla recompute TTFT 1780ms; kvtc decompression TTFT 208ms These measurements imply that, when a cache would otherwise be recomputed, decompressing a stored compressed cache can reduce TTFT by ~8×–9× in these scenarios, even without kernel fusion. The decomposition of runtime shows PCA projection and entropy coding as the largest contributors, implying that GPU-optimized kernels and faster GPU-native lossless codecs could reduce overhead further. The fundamental economic conclusion is that, in multi-turn settings with long prefixes, compression-induced overhead is likely dominated by the avoided prefill compute and avoided transfer overhead for uncompressed caches. Really devastating lines of questioning from @SenJamesLankford.... Lankford: “There are a lot of issues and a lot of questions that have come up, and hopefully, some day in the future, we’ll be able to get all this clarity and pull it together. More than a million Americans that died of COVID. You know it well. You were tracking the number every single day. Those affected and those that died from the earliest days. There are a lot of lessons that we have to learn from this that we should put into history to be able to determine what happens in the future, how do we respond in the future, how do we deal with something like this again. It was uncharted territory for everyone. But I will tell you countless families, including my own, watched a loved one die behind a screen because we couldn’t get access to them. Children couldn’t get to school. People missed their prom or graduation ceremonies. There were lots of things that happened that dramatically changed the future of the country. The mental health issues that we have continued to deal with from the isolation have been profound. Even something as simple as children that wore masks or around adults wearing masks for all that time are slower in learning language now because they couldn’t watch someone’s lips moving, and so they’re slower in that. Amazingly enough, churches and places of worship were forced to be closed down. There were even churches that met with the pastor, preached in the parking lot, and the congregants all met in their cars with windows up, and police came and scattered them and said, you can’t be here. The simple act of social distancing became an issue, as everyone guessed, what’s the right distance to be away from someone else? Literacy rates have declined. All these things are results, not to mention the loss of lives and the health experiences that have been out there for many Americans. So, there are legitimate questions. I wanted to be able to raise some of those, to be able to walk through some of this, because it has been very, very challenging. As we’ve gone through some of your — your notes and your diary and other things that are out there, we’re trying to be able to pull bits and pieces of things to be able to learn lessons. On May 6, 2020, you wrote, at that time, ‘I had a conversation with Robert Redfield,’ as you know well, was then the director of CDC, ‘about the fact that greater than 1 million children worldwide have missed their measles vaccination because of the shutdown.’ You stated, ‘this is terrible and needs to be addressed, since on that basis alone, there would be far, far, far, far more excess deaths from measles among children than coronavirus deaths among children. I need to bring this up to the TF” — the task force. Did you ever have an opportunity to bring up the potential of measles deaths among children and an infection rate going around the world from measles, based on the fact that so many children would not get their measles vaccine because of the shutdown?” Dr. Fauci: “I’m sorry, Senator, but on the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer based upon my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution.” Lankford: “That is your right to do. One of the big issues is really coming up is on the lab issue. This was greatly discussed about whether this came from a lab or whether this came from nature. There are different statements that you even made in your private notes and your public notes on it. In January the 26th of 2020, this is before we had our even our first tragic death of coronavirus in the United States, you wrote, ‘it now appears using EPI data that the genomic data in the first infection was in early December and was not connected to the market,’ which was the big rumor that was out there — was this wet market in China. ‘We know the market was not the source. It was the amplifier.’ On January the 31st, you wrote about a phone call. You wrote the people on the phone, on the phone, ‘felt the mutations around the fur-and-cleavage site of the spike protein could not have occurred naturally, since it would require an evolutionary jump that they found nowhere in bat isolates. They bring up the possibility this could have been deliberately inserted in either accidentally released or deliberately released by a crazy person in the lab, the former being the most likely. February the 1st, same year, 2020 — this is again still before our first death, “there was not total agreement about the likelihood of deliberate insertion. Ron said he was.’ – ‘he was sure that this could occur naturally, and we should not waste our time and divert our efforts to pursue this. This is expected of him since he was the original gain-of-function person with Yoshi. Also, Christian was withdrawn. The rest felt deliberate insertion was possible, and given the fact that Doctor Shi Zhengli at the University of Wuhan has been working for years in gain of function in coronaviruses to allow adaptation of the spike protein to bind to the human AC-2 receptor. I’m aware of where you have been on trying to be able to plead your Fifth Amendment right, which is your right to be able to do. But I also want to be able to find out some facts to be able to help us for the future on this. The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in May of 2020 put out a classified document that has only been recently unclassified on this — that had this statement: ‘We assess all the necessary conditions for an accidental release of a laboratory=modified coronavirus, specifically a coronavirus adapted to recognize human cell receptors, were present at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in mid-to-late 2019. Now, the question that I have for you is this is May the 27th of 2020. This is the report that most people will see is this. I have — I have clearance, I serve on the Intelligence Committee. I’ve actually read this complete document unredacted. My concern is we’re you given the ability to see this document unredacted, based on your position, were you able to see this and to be able to get this information, I could I could see it, and I know what’s here. Everybody else just has their conclusion at the beginning of it. Not this. My question to you was going to be, did you have access — because it’s important for the future that people in your position do have access to this kind of information and insight? Is there any way you could answer that question? You — you also wrote in February 12th, 2020 that you had great concerns about the World Health Organization because they Depends greatly on China and, as you stated, often bows to them. Now, this is a really important issue that we’ve got to resolve for the future. It’s not just our cooperation with Chinese scientists, it’s our acknowledgment that China covered up their data, wouldn’t allow our scientists to be able to come in. They cleaned up the wet market. They cleaned up the other areas. They wouldn’t allow you to get access to — all the other scientists are there, including their health records, what happened to them, or even all the sequencing that they had done in advance for the future of our research and our cooperation with any scientists around the world? I think it’s really important that we resolve, if we’re going to fund research and cooperate with you, we’ve got to have certain things from you. If things go sideways, we’ve got to have access to all information in all places. You were noting not only that China was affecting the World Health Organization and that China was bending them to their will, and so, the World Health Organization was putting out data that you saw, at least at that point, as being, from a Chinese perspective, covering up what was going on. But you also noted we weren’t able to get access to all this information. We’ve got to be able to figure this out for the future, to be able to make sure that research that is done, we have access to all information if something goes sideways at some point, which clearly it did at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. And that being, as was noted by many people, the only lab in the world that was doing research like this that had a lower standard of actually their security standards there than many other labs around the world, yet they were doing this very dangerous research. What can we gain and what advice would you give us to say in a future setting, We’ve got to make sure that we actually get information from people, and we can be guaranteed that we’re going to get that insight. Min Hee-jin (NewJeans Producer) NHK Music Interview 🔗 “Meticulously planned debut ‘Attention’” 🧢: When I was preparing to launch NewJeans, I really struggled with deciding what our first piece of content should be. I thought about it for a long time and considered many possibilities. It was a project that came with high expectations, and for me personally, it was also my first opportunity to prove myself. So how I presented it mattered enormously. Even down to the smallest details… like the impression the very first released photo might give, or what kind of impact we could make at launch. I thought hard about what kind of content would be the most effective… should it be a video or a photo? What time of day would be most effective to release it? I consider things like that very carefully. For example, the way a person experiences content at night versus during the day can feel quite different emotionally. So I even thought about those subtle aspects. Eventually, the conclusion I reached was: “Let’s make the most of our situation.” At the time, the members hadn’t been revealed, and no one knew how many of them there were or what kind of group this would be. So I wanted to maximize that curiosity. You know how the more something is concealed, the more curious people become? I wanted to build that curiosity to a peak and then release everything all at once. That’s why we decided not to release a teaser and instead go straight into a full music video. (This was actually inspired by Hyein suggesting we skip teasers.) I didn’t think still images or photos would be enough to fully convey the feeling I wanted to express. I felt that video and music together would evoke the emotional response I was looking for because people experience things synesthetically. When sound, image, and feeling come together, the emotional impact is stronger. I believed the best way to present the members’ images was through music and a moving picture… that’s why we led with a music video. In the debut music video, “Attention,” there’s a scene where the members act out a little drama. I paid very close attention to that moment and created music that would fit it precisely. For me, I don’t just make content… I design the entire process of how it should be shown for the greatest effect. And I believe that’s incredibly important. That first feeling someone gets when they encounter something… that emotion, that spark… is so important to me. I’m very detail-oriented, but I also value fun deeply. So rather than just releasing content, I want to enjoy the process leading up to it. Even when we released our second album, since we shot the entire music video across the country, the sequence of how we released the videos was critical for me. It’s hard to explain all this simply in an interview, but maybe some people noticed: the first content we released that time was actually a teaser for the last track, “ASAP,” and then we followed that with the full music video for “New Jeans,” which was the first track. That order was a carefully calculated strategy. It was designed to guide the audience’s emotional journey. Seeing the audience react just as I had hoped—that whole process was honestly so fun and thrilling for me. I think I really enjoy that kind of thing. ——— “How 'Ditto' was born” 🧢: People often praise the music of NewJeans, and I hear a lot of talk about genres. But actually, I don’t feel bound by genre at all. I love a wide variety of music. I’m not the type to insist on only one particular genre. What I love are songs that blend genres cleverly… those are my personal favorites. So going forward, my focus is not on genre but on whether something feels fresh and whether it can create an emotional moment. I don’t want to define what kind of music we make. And I think you have to experience the flow of the times to really understand what’s meaningful in a given moment. For instance, the song “Ditto” was chosen because it delivered emotion. It matched perfectly with the winter album concept I had envisioned, both in terms of timing and mood. When I hear a song, I tend to trust my gut. I have a pretty strong intuition for which songs will resonate. It’s not about objectively predicting what will be a “hit,” but about whether a song moves your heart… you can just feel it. Of course, my own taste plays a big role. But I think that’s actually my strength as a producer, not as a composer. When I hear a song, I can immediately picture the visual… what kind of story, what kind of vibe it could carry. That allows me to work faster. For example, when expressing something like school uniforms, there are so many possible variations. But I always like to start from the basics… what’s the original idea of a school uniform? I try to return to that. So with “Ditto,” I wanted to tap into something primal… the pure, basic feeling of liking someone. That kind of emotion is universal. Everyone has it; it’s wired into us. When I saw Director Shin Woo-seok’s interpretation of it, I thought, “Yes, that’s it.” That’s the kind of complete interpretation I look for. I believe the completion of a project comes from every person involved thinking about their part down to the final detail… the maximum quality they can bring out. My role is to unify and refine all of that. I draw out the essence of each person’s creativity, trimming away anything unnecessary. So the final product is something that’s polished and high-quality, just the way I envisioned it. That’s my working style. So it’s not like I’m fixated on retro or stuck in a particular style. I don’t think human taste has changed all that much. Things people liked in the past are the same things we like now. It’s just the form of expression that changes with time. I don’t feel bound by “past” or “present.” I don’t even think in those boundaries. To me, it’s all just good taste. You know how kids sometimes have their own little treasure boxes when they’re young? I think my work is kind of like that. I want to make things that never feel dated—that are timelessly enjoyable. ——— “Dance Expression and 'Hype Boy'” 🧢: I had a vision of what kind of girl group I wanted to create. That’s why I chose a song like “Hype Boy.” And to bring out that feeling, we created four different versions of the music video. Every choice had a purpose, everything was designed to maximize the experience of the song. “Hype Boy” is such a unique song. It has this strange, piercing melody that gives people chills in a good way. To emphasize that tingling feeling, I had to break away from the standard K-pop choreography format… you know, the kind where everyone is in perfect formation, doing synchronized moves. But our songs don’t suit that kind of choreography. Our dances are much harder. They require the body to move very naturally with the groove of the melody and beat. So I think our members are incredible. It’s not easy to express naturalness with your body, and you have to really enjoy it to make it look effortless. But they pulled it off so well. They’re still young, but they’re so talented. And through it all, I wanted to avoid making them look like they were performing just for business. I wanted them to show the pure joy and bright spirit that’s natural for people their age… genuine, carefree, radiant. ——— “The difference between NewJeans and conventional K-POP” 🧢: Ah, for me, it’s all about naturalness. And honestly, naturalness isn’t something you can produce or direct into existence. It comes from how I interact with the NewJeans members on a daily basis… what kind of environment they practice in, how they live and work. There are so many things that don’t appear on camera, but those unseen aspects have to be in place in order for true naturalness to come through. That’s why I wanted to create that kind of environment for the girls. And also, I wanted to shape my own working environment in that way too. Only then can something truly natural, something unforced and not overly stimulating, really come out. To begin with, I don’t believe anyone can be completely natural in front of a camera or under the gaze of others. It’s human nature to become self-conscious. That’s why I think naturalness is our strength, but it can’t be our concept. If you try to turn “naturalness” into a concept, it actually becomes incredibly artificial. So why do I place so much importance on naturalness? It’s because the girls are still so young. While other kids their age are going through school and having a wide range of life experiences, these members are living very different lives. Before they officially debuted, I told them, “This is like studying together with me.” Our standard contract is seven years, which is about the same length as going through high school and college in Korea: three years of high school and four years of university. So I told them, “We’re going to school together. We’re learning together.” And in that sense, I want to be a good teacher to them. They’re also surrounded by an incredibly professional team, people they’d never meet even in a traditional school setting. I’ve never really liked the word idol. These days, that word is used more like a job title, something manufactured by the industry, and it’s far from its original meaning. To me, the term idol feels misplaced. It doesn’t really reflect who these artists are or what they represent. And I’m not the kind of person who clings to labels or terminology. In fact, what I really want is to break the stereotypes and preconceptions that come with the idol industry. I want us to show people something different… to challenge those assumptions and redefine what this can look like. That’s the kind of mindset I have. ——— “Isn't it difficult for the members to express "naturalness"?” 🧢: There were a lot of things I considered when forming the group. First and foremost, I think it was important that the members shared a similar vibe… like how I prefer working with staff who align with my taste. It’s important for the crew to be on the same wavelength. And by that, I mean more than just getting along… it also extends to shared values. Of course, people won’t all share identical values, but when we’re facing in a similar direction, everything becomes easier. It’s also just more efficient to work with people who have overlapping tastes. Now, when it comes to our members, they each have their own individual tastes, but those preferences are still in development. Just like we all went through as kids, they’re still growing, still discovering themselves. They’re not in a finished state. So we didn’t cast them based on some complete or polished version of themselves. It wasn’t like, “This person is fully formed, let’s pick her.” It was more like, “Ah, she has potential, there’s something there.” That sense of a spark… those were the kinds of subtleties I paid attention to. I didn’t cast anyone just because they were pretty or could sing well. I don’t work like that. I really value those finer, more delicate aspects. Even the design of the light stick wasn’t something that came from a long strategic planning session… it was actually a spontaneous idea. I didn’t sit down and think, “Let’s make a light stick like this.” NewJeans didn’t have a fixed logo, but I felt we still needed a unifying symbol. So one night, just before going to sleep, I kept thinking about it. Right before dozing off, I started sketching and it turned into a rabbit’s face. When I drew it out, the shape just continued and turned into a bunny. To me, the NewJeans members are like little bunnies… playful, innocent. Their visuals also resemble rabbits in a way. And rabbits symbolize abundance. That made me think: “Ah, maybe our fans will multiply like rabbits. That would be great.” So that bunny face became both a symbol for the members and the fans. The image came to me all at once, and I imagined a venue completely filled with bunny light sticks. That vision led to the creation of the light stick itself. Since I always prioritize fun in everything I do, the next idea that came to mind was making the light stick customizable. I thought, “Wouldn’t it be great if fans could personalize their bunny?” That way, each rabbit would represent a different person’s character. So we included accessories, allowing everyone to customize their own bunny. It’s symbolic of all these different bunnies coming together and enjoying a good time as one. Our light stick has a big head, so when it’s used in a concert hall, it lights up in heart shapes that are very visible. That was the image I really wanted. And that bunny face… it’s also a heart. It represents both the face of NewJeans and our hearts. It’s the love we’re showing to our fans, and the love we want to receive in return. Every time I see it, I feel deeply moved. It’s very emotional for me because it’s a perfect realization of what I envisioned. As someone with a background in creative direction, there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing an idea materialize exactly the way you imagined it.
