Today we remember WWII Medal of Honor recipient Staff Sgt. Day G. Turner, buried at Luxembourg American Cemetery. 🇺🇸🇱🇺 His Medal of Honor citation reads: "Turner commanded a nine-man squad with the mission of holding a critical flank position. When overwhelming numbers of the enemy attacked under cover of withering artillery, mortar, and rocket fire, he withdrew his squad into a nearby house, determined to defend it to the last man. The enemy attacked again and again and were repulsed with heavy losses. Supported by direct tank fire, they finally gained entrance, but the intrepid sergeant refused to surrender although five of his men were wounded and one was killed. He boldly flung a can of flaming oil at the first wave of attackers, dispersing them, and fought doggedly from room to room, closing with the enemy in fierce hand-to-hand encounters. He hurled hand grenade for hand grenade, bayoneted two fanatical Germans who rushed a doorway he was defending, and fought on with the enemy's weapons when his own ammunition was expended. The savage fight raged for four hours, and finally, when only three men of the defending squad were left unwounded, the enemy surrendered. Twenty-five prisoners were taken, 11 enemy dead and a great number of wounded were counted. Turner's valiant stand will live on as a constant inspiration to his comrades. His heroic, inspiring leadership, his determination, and courageous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military service." We remember his service and sacrifice.

Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke about his own father & his humble roots after Tyrese Haliburton’s father confronted him after Milwaukee’s series-losing Game 5 vs. Indiana 🗣️ “I believe being humble in victory. People say when you win the game, you talk s***, it’s a green light for you to be disrespectful to someone else. I disagree. I’ve won a championship & they haven’t. I’m not trying to minimize their effort. I remember when I won, my mom never missed a game. When we won, she was scared to cross. ‘Am I allowed to come & hug my son?’… Except Thanasis, my family doesn’t sit courtside. I try to keep my family away from the game. Losing a game, emotions run high. I thought it was a fan. It was his dad. I love Tyrese. I think he’s a great competitor. His dad coming on the floor & showing me his son’s towel with his face. ‘This is what we do. This is what the f*** we do.’ That’s very, very disrespectful. My dad, who’s not with us anymore, my dad used to come in the family room & he’s the most respectful person ever. When you come from nothing & work your whole life to sell stuff in the street… you create this mentality of being humble your whole life. To not disrespect anybody… so, when his dad came here, I remembered: ‘Dad why are you so humble?’ That’s how I grew up… Having somebody’s dad — & I’m happy for his son & him — disrespecting me & cursing at me is totally unacceptable. I’m not the guy that points fingers, because snitches get stitches. I don’t want him to get fined. I talked with him at the end & I think we’re in a good place.” Thoughts? 🤔

BEYOND URGENT!! 💔💔💔💔💔 🚨 douglas is STILL at the shelter and can be euthanized at any moment without further notice. we don’t know if he was extended until 5 pm like some of the other dogs today. he needs an immediate exit NOW before it’s too late 💔 VIDEO JUST TAKEN!! please contact the shelter immediately if you can save his life and keep sharing/networking for him urgently. 🚨 DOUGLAS SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA TODAY MAY 15 🚨 douglas came into ARC shelter on 4/18/26 after being found already microchipped, though sadly his owner did not come to reclaim him. since then, he has been sitting in the shelter waiting for someone to notice him again, to choose him again, to give him a place where he doesn’t have to wait behind kennel bars anymore. in the kennel, douglas is described as kennel stressed and declining, with barrier reactivity when people approach. it’s the kind of response that often builds up in a confined environment where excitement, frustration, and stress have nowhere to go. but once he’s outside of that kennel space, the notes shift in a very important way, he is people friendly. he can connect. he can engage. he shows that there is still a social, receptive dog underneath the stress of the kennel. he is a dog who needs understanding more than judgment, and space more than pressure. a dog who is still there when the kennel door opens, even if the kennel itself has made things harder for him. douglas is still waiting. today, may 13 at 5pm, douglas is scheduled for euthanasia at ARC shelter, california, if no one steps up for him. he is a german shepherd, tan and black, neutered male, 2 years old. #a008021 IMPORTANT: If you have any interest at all, please reach out to them now! That call could save his life! ARC OF THE INLAND EMPIRE 1630 Shearwater Street, Ontario, CA 91761 Phone: (909) 321-1080 [email protected] [email protected]

Today, our hearts are heavy. 💔 Rambo, a beloved pet dog and a familiar face around our kitchen compound, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. For the last two years, Rambo was a regular visitor. He would often come by, greet everyone with his gentle presence, and enjoy his meals. He was deeply loved by an elderly lady from the nearby neighborhood who cared for him like family. A few days ago, Rambo suddenly stopped eating and became very weak. His guardian sought our help, as it was difficult to understand the seriousness of his condition initially. We immediately took him to the veterinary hospital, where X-rays and scans revealed a heartbreaking reality. His lungs had severe fluid accumulation, and the veterinarians informed us that his chances of survival were extremely low. Despite the odds, treatment continued for three days. The veterinary team did everything they could. A procedure was performed to remove the accumulated fluid, and for a brief moment, we hoped he would recover. But sometimes, despite all efforts, love, prayers, and treatment are not enough. A day after the procedure, sweet Rambo left us. His passing is a painful reminder of how important early detection and timely medical intervention can be. Animals cannot tell us when they are suffering, and often by the time symptoms become visible, it may already be too late. We are deeply saddened that we could not save him. We ensured that Rambo received a dignified burial, surrounded by the love and respect he deserved. Run free, sweet boy. Thank you for every visit, every wag of your tail, and every beautiful memory you gave us over the last two years. You were loved. You will be missed. And you will never be forgotten. God bless you, Rambo. Rest in peace, dear friend. #OmShanti
