🗣️ Mikel Arteta on the possibility of players leaving who have been here a long time: "It's a really, really tough moment, you need to face that reality. But you need to face it with real honesty and transparency because when you are on the other side, that's exactly what you need. "You might not like what you've been told, but if it's truthful, if it's the reality, if it's honest and it's going to help you to make better decisions and have more clarity for the next steps in your career, you have to do that. "These are always very difficult conversations, but they need to be done. It's like when a player doesn't feel that he belongs or he's important, he wants to have a different chapter, I think that communication has to exist and it has to be both ways. "We all know, everything has a start and has an end. When it comes to the end, I think our duty, our responsibility is to do it in the best possible way, maintaining the respect and admiration for the player and the relationship, but understanding that at the end, we need to make football decisions."

Francisco Lindor was asked about the mood of the Mets' clubhouse as the trade deadline approaches: "Marcus said it best earlier. He said that we've got to win every game. You never know what can happen. That's the mentality here, everybody's trying to focus on winning. It's only human nature to be paying attention to what's happening out there. We're going to miss Minter. He's a true professional, a guy that even during his rehab, he was always extremely optimistic and worked hard. When he was here, he gave everything he had. We're going to miss a guy like that. When it comes to Peralta, he's still here. He's still my teammate and just kind of what I expect, him continuing to be my teammate. Whatever happens, happens. It's not my job. My job is to play shortstop."

🎙️ Zach Lowe: "I don't want to hear any of these f-ing Johnny-come-latelies on LaMelo Ball, like, 'LaMelo Ball's good now. He's a winning player now...'" "He's never been a loser. He's always been good. He's always been better for their team. Their team's always been way better with him on the floor, and not just in a 'our bench sucks, so our starters are by default better' kind of way... but in a legit, like 'this offense hums when he's on the floor.'" "He is a better player today than he was last season, also healthier. He is a more diligent decision maker than he was last season and in prior seasons. That stuff is all real. It leads to winning. It's probably in part because he can see two guys on his team who are like, 'These guys are as good as me. I don't have to do crazy stuff. I can hand off the baton to them a little bit.'" "I don't want to hear anyone say that he was a loser and now he's a winner... he's always been a good player." More on today's The Zach Lowe Show:

.Connor Hughes shared the glass half empty perspective on #Jets GM Darren Mougey so far to Jake Asman on 880AM ESPN New York: "When you just analyze what he has done to this point, if you want to be glass half empty as opposed to glass half full ... I'll just play devil's advocate ... Everything he has done to this point has, yes, he's accumulated a ton of draft capital & he's made nice like whether it's [Harrison] Phillips or like the little moves that he has made on the side to fill lower level [roster holes], that's good, that's fine, great I love it but they haven't been difference making moves."

Justin Herbert's full answer and support of Quentin Johnston: "I think that's the tough part about the NFL. He's a playmaker. He's done an incredible job all year. You never want to see that. Just like when I throw an interception or when I miss a throw, he's gonna come up to me and tell me, 'hey, it's the next play'. And that's the way it is. Everyone in that locker room is professionals. Q will do a great job. I can give him better placement, better balls. It's on all of us. It's not just on him, it's on me for the way I gotta deliver the ball. I gotta make sure we're all on the same page. He's an incredible player and I'm gonna keep throwing him the ball." "He's a fighter. You trust him. And I'm gonna keep throwing him the ball. That's what we did out there. Unfortunately, it didn't go our way tonight. But I know he's gonna be the first one in the building and he's gonna do everything the right way. He's a truly great teammate, great guy. And he's gonna go make some plays. He's got a lot of good football left in front of him."

🚨Gerard Piqué on people criticizing Lamine Yamal after during Span's world Cup celebrations: "Lamine Yamal will always be criticized because that's what happens when you're extraordinary at such a young age. But let's not forget that he's still a kid, still learning, still developing, and he's already carrying expectations that most players don't face in an entire career." "He just helped Spain win the World Cup. Let him celebrate, let him enjoy the moment. Not everything has to become a debate or a reason to attack him." "The haters will always find something to criticize, whether it's his football or how he celebrates. That's normal when you're one of the biggest names in the game. But the football world knows exactly what Lamine represents. He's humble, incredibly talented, and he's the next big thing in football." "Instead of looking for reasons to bring him down, appreciate that we're witnessing the rise of a special player. Players like him don't come around very often."

Max Holloway's dietitian Tyler Minton says Max will still have a weight cut ahead of UFC 329: "We're going to be cutting weight. Max is a big guy... When I post a picture with me and Max, it's always, 'Holy smokes, he's huge.' Max is a very large 155er now that he's had time to do this, and you know that a large 155er is a 170, naturally. So, yeah, we're still gonna have a weight cut, but that being said, it's not one of those you have to fear or worry about. We've been able to focus purely on performance."

I don't either. I'll use Malachi Lawrence's game from Cincy to change it up. There are too many exposures of his momentum coming to a screeching halt on contact. That's not the player that's winning in today's NFL. Fires up instead of out, so he's losing the leverage game from the jump. That's why it looks like he's playing on skates at the point of contact. His athleticism pops when it's time to chase but I'm not sure he can run the hoop. Questions about bend/flexibility. I'm always skeptical of prospects who get the postseason bump when zero games have been played. He was in the 100s on big boards in January. Ran and jumped like a cyborg and now we're talking 1st round.

Ian Wright says Kylian Mbappe could go on to be the greatest World Cup player ever. Ian Wright: "Watching him the other day, when I went and watched him live against Iraq, you could tell there's something different about his energy and the fact that he is the leader of the team. Right, Pat? He's the leader of the team. You could see it. You know, almost like he's welcoming people in. You see the celebration with Dembélé, who has won a couple of Ballond'ors or could go on to win another one. He's embracing it. I think that he's gone to that place where he's the leader of this team, and he's not bothered about that. Just maturity as well." Roy Keane: "Is that just maturity as well." Ian Wright: "Yeah. I think so. Roy." Roy Keane:: "Getting a bit older, a bit wiser." Presenter: "He's 27 now. You know, he's been in the game for almost a decade." Patrick Viera: "He's a different player from the last World Cup. He's got more maturity. He understands the game much better, about how he has to bring the players around him because, at the end, he needs those players to perform." Presenter: "He's only two goals behind Messi in terms of World Cup scorers." Ian Wright: "Yeah, but when we look at it, he's won the World Cup when he was 18. He just missed out on penalties in '22, and now he's in another one. You know, we're talking about somebody who could probably go on to be the greatest ever in respect to the World Cup. But at the moment, at 27 now... it seems like he's in exactly the right place where he needs to be right now."

Gyokeres on his 2026 form: “Yeah, I don't know if it's one factor down to answer that question, but I think you come into the group even more. You get to know the players and everything around your life, I think, in general when you change club. “I think when you get into routine and everyday work and of course on the pitch as well to play together with your teammates game after game. I think it's going to become better and yes, done that.” On Saka: “I think he was very good on Saturday, and I think when he's in that form and he's playing like he always is, I think it's, of course, amazing for me and all the other guys to have him on the pitch.”

So, like you get the attention span for maybe two songs, six minutes, and he's into it and then I know, you know he's had enough. [Interviewer: Does he like music?] Yeah , he's definitely started like I've definitely noticed him like, you know, singing and like humming to himself little bit more. I'm encourage... I'm trying to encourage him to play guitar. I think he is up for it. But yeah, at that age you just you want to time that perfectly cuz I can remember being a young lad and if someone put a guitar in my hand at the wrong age... But also you got to be a old enough to understand that it's really cool to play the guitar. So yeah, we we'll get there. But he's doing great. [Interviewer: Does he go to some of the shows?] He'll... he normally comes to the LA show which is always that's a real tough one for me cuz it's like all I want to do is a be dad and then it's a real justosition but it's emotional. He brings his own signs, makes his own signs and stuff like yeah dead dead sweet.” ❤️ — Louis Tomlinson talking about his son Freddie in an interview with iHeartRadio!

Arteta on Martin Zubimendi’s lack of rotation: “Well, there's been more rotation than I think any other team. So in some areas there are less. I think that's the one particular one that you are mentioning, probably.” On Zubimendi struggling for form: “Well, because obviously when you play that many games, to maintain the excellent level is almost impossible. “I haven't seen a single player probably in the Premier League this season to be able to do that. So, again, it's part of that journey as a player and the shorter it is, the better.” Reporter: “Do you get the sense that he's got the kind of mentality required to get through this particular moment?” “Yeah, because he's been so consistent and so intelligent and because he demands himself more than anybody else probably.”

Jason Day was asked ahead of The Masters whether he has any empathy for what Tiger Woods is going through and he gave a brilliant answer that a lot of people can probably agree with: “So yeah, in regards to Tiger, it just shows the human element and the human side of someone that is struggling with some sort of an addiction. He's not immune to it just because he can hit a golf ball really well. He's had 25 to 30 something surgeries, and when you're going through that many procedures, it's painful coming out of those procedures. I've had procedures done and I typically try and stay away from all that stuff because I just know that -- painkillers, there can potentially be a downfall to it. “Granted, when I look at that, I look at it and go, he's just a human being like everyone else and we have struggles. It's unfortunate, the only thing that I don't understand is that it's a little bit selfish of him to drive and put other people in harm's way, as well. “But when you're the player that he was and how strong-willed he is, he thinks he can do almost anything, and that's probably why he's probably driving and a little bit under the influence. “He was my hero -- he's my hero. He was my hero growing up. The reason why I play golf is because of this tournament and Tiger. It's hard to see him go through what he's going through, and especially under the microscope that -- it must be hard to be who he is and have everything, everyone look on, kind of down on him. “Some people want him to fail. Some people obviously want him to succeed. It's really difficult for me to go through that and watch him, and I know that he's getting the help now, which is good. I'm just hoping he comes out on the other side and is better.” Well said. Jason Day The Masters
