For years, the right has ignore the massive about of evidence I have from going undercover with the left and infiltrating their online meetings to record them. Their excuse? “YOU’RE FAT.” And now that I’ve lost the weight, the new talking point is “where’s your saggy skin?” Never forget that not one single person on the right who has been trying to discredit me for years has EVER been able to intellectually debate my work. And the cope now that their favorite excuse has been taken away is real.

Respectability politics has never worked for Black people — and it never will with people who don’t respect you to begin with. For years I’ve been told to change my approach. Today I challenge those in leadership to consider that the approach they’ve been using got our s*** stolen. The strategy now has to be to take something back from them — power. I’ve been doing this work for over a decade. Folks didn’t partner with me or support me when I ran because I was considered “radical” — as if demanding equity is radical. It’s time for a different approach. A different posture. One with some fight in it. I’m leaning in regardless — I’m just wondering how many of us are ready now. Share if you care 🦾

I’m in America at the start of a five-week tour of America promoting this book, The Genetic Book of the Dead: A Darwinian Reverie, which is being published on the 17th of September in America. I’m having a good time. I’m in Texas—the first stop was Dallas, and the second stop is here in Austin. I’ve enjoyed both. I’ve especially enjoyed the book signings, where a large number of people have thanked me for changing their lives, which is a wonderful thing to be told. Many have also told me I’ve inspired them to take up a career in biology, to do a doctorate in biology, for example. So I have been very pleased about that, and I’m enjoying myself in America very much. I’m also looking forward to getting back to England, where I am continuing the tour there.

My time in Congress has been one of the greatest honors and most fulfilling experiences of my life. I will always be grateful for the friendships I’ve built, the colleagues I’ve served alongside, and, most importantly, the privilege of representing the people of Texas’s 38th Congressional District. I’m also deeply thankful for the opportunity to know President Trump and for all he has done for my family, our country, and me personally. Moments like these are a reminder to never lose perspective. Public service is a privilege, leadership is a responsibility, and gratitude should always remain at the center of both. 🇺🇸
