🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸 James Stockdale sat alone in a North Vietnamese prison cell in September 1965 and smashed a wooden stool into his own face, even though he knew the injuries would leave him permanently scarred and barely able to see. He did it for one reason. The guards were preparing him for a propaganda broadcast. Stockdale was the highest ranking U.S. Navy officer captured during the Vietnam War. Sh*t down on September 9, 1965, while flying an A-4 Skyhawk over North Vietnam, he had already been beaten and interrogated at Hoa Lo Prison, later known as the "Hanoi Hilton." When he learned the North Vietnamese planned to parade him on television as proof that American pilots were being treated well, he made a decision. He would make himself unusable. Using the stool and a razor, he cut and battered his face until it was swollen and bloody. When guards arrived, the image they wanted was gone. The broadcast was canceled. The act set the tone for the next seven and a half years. Stockdale became the senior officer among American prisoners, organizing a covert command structure inside the prison system. Using a tap code based on a 5x5 letter grid, prisoners communicated through walls, sharing orders, intelligence, and morale messages even under isolation. The cost was severe. Stockdale spent more than four years in solitary confinement and endured repeated torture, including rope bindings that dislocated shoulders and damaged nerves. In 1969, when guards again prepared prisoners for staged media appearances, he ordered a mass resistance. Several prisoners, including Stockdale, deliberately injured themselves rather than cooperate. The resistance worked. The North Vietnamese reduced public propaganda use of American POWs after the coordinated defiance. Stockdale was released on February 12, 1973, after 2,714 days in captivity. He returned home weighing less than 140 pounds, with lasting nerve damage and impaired mobility. The military response was immediate. He received the Medal of Honor in 1976 for leadership and resistance under captivity, along with multiple awards for valor. But his most lasting impact came from how he explained survival. Drawing on Stoic philosophy he had studied before the war, Stockdale later described what became known as the "Stockdale Paradox." The situation in northern Israel is getting surprisingly little attention in the West. Here’s some background and an explanation of just how dire it is. World War Three gets closer by the day, and I’m not exaggerating. UNSC resolution 1701 (2006) is that Hezbollah agree to stay north of the river Litani in Lebanon. This puts Israeli settlements out of anti-tank rocket range. However, Hezbollah have broken this and since 7th October have fired thousands of rockets into Israel, displacing some 60,000 Israelis from their homes. To be clear, Hezbollah is a direct Iranian proxy, who live like a virus inside the almost-dead body of the Lebanese state. Their fighters are far superior to Hamas, having gained serious experience in the Syrian civil war. They have no real ground manoeuvre or air power, but their tunnels in the chalk rock of southern Lebanon are better than Hamas’ and they have an estimated 150,000 rockets. There are UN Peacekeepers in Lebanon, but (shockingly for the UN, I know) they’re as much use as a bacon sandwich at a Bar Mitzvah. One very senior Israeli source described them to me as “an umbrella that folds when it rains”. So Israel has a real, very serious problem. They do not have the manpower to assault into Lebanon for any kind of sustained campaign, especially whilst Gaza is ongoing. So, in polite terms, they are kicking the shit out of it from the air (over which they have total superiority) and relying on missile defences. Thousands of targets have been struck in the last 9 months but Hezbollah retain very significant missile capability. This is why Israel are beholden to the USA to offer obscenely generous ceasefire terms to Hamas (that Hamas appear to be declining). They cannot afford to lose American military aid with this threat on their northern border. In the videos below, in the first vid you see the war zone northern Israel has become. The second one is the settlement of Katzrin in the Golan Heights. Surrounded on all sides by fires. In a statement to Qatari-funded Muslim Brotherhood mouthpiece Al Jazeera, yesterday Hezbollah said, “We simultaneously attacked 15 bases in the Golan and the Galilee using 150 rockets and 30 drones. This is the most extensive attack carried out by the organization since October 8, this attack came in response to the assassination in Joya and in order to deter Israel from carrying out further assassinations of this type.” On top of that, Iranian proxies in Iraq took responsibility last night for the joint operation they carried out together with the Houthis (Iranian proxies in Yemen), which launched these ballistic missiles and UAVs towards the Israeli cities of Ashdod and Haifa (third video). Iran is besieging Israel on all sides, and Israel is bending, not breaking. This situation is genuinely dire. It explains why Hamas will not sign a ceasefire deal, and why other non-Iran aligned Gulf states are meeting with IDF commanders. The entire region is teetering on the edge of a much more widespread conflict with Iran, and Israel is taking the brunt of it. If this situation deteriorates, our allies in the Gulf may call for aid. As a second front in the war against the Iran-Russia-China-Qatar axis of malign global actors, this could not be more serious or worrying. And all the while we see subversive Iranian proxy organisations organising protests about Gaza on Western streets. Hopefully the West is not defeated domestically before the war even starts in earnest.

Like many others in the room, he listened quietly, asked a few questions, and stayed back after the sessions. A month later, when he explained what he had been building, I understood what confidence can unlock in tier 2 India. Khaleel is from Gadag and studies at KLETU Hubballi. He is pursuing a combined BCA and MCA degree. He is deeply interested in the automotive domain. His father has worked in the automotive field for several years, including time in Saudi. Growing up around that environment, Khaleel always felt that he should do something meaningful in this space. Last year, he came across news about an accident near Amarnath. Over time, they designed, fabricated, mounted, and tested an apparatus that could act as a fail safe braking mechanism. They developed a system that could be mounted onto the rear axle shaft. In case of brake failure, the driver can press a button placed near the driver’s seat. Once activated, the vehicle comes to a gradual halt within about 10 to 12 seconds. There is no jerk. The stopping is smooth, ensuring the vehicle does not topple or lose control. The system also automatically switches on the hazard lights, alerting other vehicles that something is wrong. To test this properly, they even bought an old Tata Ace truck using their own money. They modified it to install the apparatus and tested it under multiple conditions, both with and without load. The Tata Ace normally carries about 750 kg, but they also tested it with close to 1 tonne of load. The system worked well in all scenarios. Within about 8-9 months, Khaleel and his father took this from idea to a working prototype. With the help of KLETU, Khaleel has applied for a patent. The EIR hearing is already done, and he is hopeful about the next steps. What made me really happy was not just the technical achievement. Khaleel told me that he got the confidence to reach out to me only because of the Hubballi meetup. Because everything was discussed in Kannada, he felt that a small town boy like him could also think big. He felt that his ideas were valid and worth pursuing. He reached out to seek help in connecting with OEMs and others who could support him in commercialising this idea and taking it further through professional testing and industry adoption. If this idea eventually gets adopted at scale, it could make heavy commercial vehicles and buses more fail safe, reduce emissions, and possibly save lives. Three more replications of diamagnetism in LK-99 A re-cap of who they are and where to find them: Andrew McCalip working out of the Varda Space Industries laboratories has replicated the apparent diamagnetic properties of LK-99 in the video attached. He did so following the recipe originally published by the Korean team using tools like a blowtorch and oven. Here you can see a fuller clip he has uploaded to youtube and also posted to his twitter / X account: Chrześcijańska Unia Jedności 🇳🇨🇯🇵🇮🇳🇬🇧🇬🇱 in Poland has also claimed replication of diamagnetic properties although a write-up is forthcoming, see photo in the comments. A team of Hao Wu, Li Yang, Bichen Xiao, Haixin Chang at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology have claimed successful replication of diamagnetism in a sample of LK-99 with a more extended write-up which is available on arxiv: with photos attached in comments below. This comes in addition to the first reported replication of diamagnetism which to the best of my knowledge belongs to Iris COMMS OPEN (2/3) Вы/ж. р. , in addition to now several others at Chinese research universities. ~~~~~~~~ An emerging interpretation of this physical phenomenon of partial levitation is that the superconducting pathways inside the material are one-dimensional, and so do not fully support levitation in all three dimensions. Normally in a Type-II superconductor current can flow and be conducted internally in different directions however the magnetic field might induce it, as well as trap or pin magnetic flux lines internally, thus the Meissner effect might be considered the combination of several phenomenon and properties at once. Notably, replications of this partial levitation / diamagnetism have been accompanied with photos of it NOT being attracted to a magnet, showing that this is not simply a magnetized flake of material. The speed and ease of replicating the diamagnetism of LK-99 is profound - normally in preparing these materials there is an extensive amount of artisinal expertise and practical know-how required to get the recipe just right.
