Here's a few differences I found upon closer inspection: 1. Time period and film quality / color Left: Mostly black-and-white or early color footage from the 1950sโ€“1980s (grainy, archival newsreel style). Right: Modern full-color, high-resolution digital/video footage (often from the 2010sโ€“2020s, clearer and sharper). 2. Uniforms and military/police appearance Left: Police/military in khaki/green uniforms, distinctive helmets (e.g., older riot gear, "bok" hats in some clips), and vehicles typical of 1970sโ€“1980s (e.g., Casspirs or older jeeps). Right: Soldiers in contemporary olive-green uniforms, modern tactical vests, Kevlar helmets, M4-style rifles, and newer military jeeps/Hummers. 3. Language on signs and visual text (One of the most obvious differences between the two videos) Left: Signs in English and Afrikaans Right: Signs in Hebrew, Arabic, and English. 4. Ethnic/ demographic groups Left: Darker skinned, likely of African descent. Right: Arab appearance, often in keffiyehs or everyday civilian clothing. 5. Nature of structures / barriers Left: Physical segregation via basic signage, separate entrances, occasional barbed wire, or bulldozed townships. Right: Massive concrete separation wall (8โ€“9m high in places), extensive electrified fencing, numerous permanent/permanent checkpoints with turnstiles, watchtowers, and advanced surveillance (cameras, drones implied in some shots). 6. Specific events / actions captured Left: Protests, police dogs against marchers, forced removals with bulldozers, tear gas, and baton charges Right: Night raids on homes, tear gas at protests, home demolitions, checkpoint humiliations/queues, and military incursions. 7. Weapons and crowd control methods Left: Batons, whips, early tear gas, police dogs, rifles with bayonets, occasional live fire. Right: Rubber-coated bullets, tear gas canisters (often direct-fired), skunk water cannons (in some protest footage), sound bombs ("stun grenades"), modern assault rifles, and drone/tear gas deployment. 8. Geography / landscape Left: Urban townships, beaches, park benches, city streets. Right: Rocky hills, olive groves, concrete barriers cutting through border fence, checkpoints. Did I miss anything? Please share any differences you found while watching these two incredible videos. And please keep it civil. I don't accept fighting and other unruly behavior in my replies.

Watch END OF THE DIALOGUE (1970 South Africa) and ON OUR LAND (1981 Palestine) Two short features that when viewed back to back provide a great comparison of both Apartheid regimes. Both docs available in English from the directorโ€™s own YouTube channel:
