Yesterday CNN call HTS 'moderate' Today: Churches smashed, women veiled by force, Christmas erased. HTS, an Al-Qaeda offshoot, is no moderate force. Coordinated media lies show the chilling power of Western security services to control the narrative. #Syria

CNN and MSNBC no longer make any effort to claim they are impartial news organizations.

Same in Portugal - all newspapers and commentors now claim HTS are the good rebels that came to save Syria from assad. They go drink from the same sources all of them.

I just call them Al-Qaeda and can't be bothered to keep up with their alphabet soup of name changes.

Lots of blowhards in Scotland & the UK were outraged at that lassie sporting the image of a Palestinian resistance paraglider fighter last year. Not a word from them about the Britmedia promoting HTS terrorism though. Some terrorists are more equal than others I guess.

What the British and Americans have done to the region is both sad and beyond evil. Stay out of harm’s way, because too many good people have already been killed. God bless you. @Pontifex

What’s happening in Syria? Since Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), led by former ISIS member Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, took power in parts of Syria, there have been ongoing sectarian attacks against minority groups, particularly Alawites. Local sources have informed red. media that the situation escalated significantly yesterday. Pogroms targeting Alawite communities were reported not only in Latakia but also in other Syrian cities like Homs. Clashes were reported also in Al Sweyda a predominantly Druze area. The primary reason behind these events is the deeply sectarian ideology of HTS, whose members hold Sunni supremacist beliefs. Although Jolani is attempting to present himself as a moderate leader to Western audiences—primarily aiming to remove sanctions and attract investment—the core of his organization remains rooted in extremist groups such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS. This dual strategy creates severe contradictions within HTS and poses an existential threat to minorities like the Alawites. Several pro-HTS and anti-Assad media outlets and journalists have portrayed yesterday’s events as an attempted coup by Assad loyalists within the military. This narrative seems designed to delegitimize genuine self-defense measures by minorities who are resisting sectarian violence and pogroms. Meanwhile, despite Israel actively carrying out military operations against Syria, Jolani and HTS’s military forces remain predominantly focused on attacking minorities rather than addressing external threats.
