A nurse practitioner contacted me privately after my last video about the military needing doctors and nurses. They asked to stay anonymous, and I’m going to respect that. What they shared wasn’t about one doctor or one patient—it was about incentives in the system. There are large, well-known companies that process blood work for huge portions of the country. According to them, results often come back framed in a way that suggests something is always still wrong. The concern is this: if a patient is told they’ve improved, fixed the issue, or no longer need monitoring, that patient may not be a repeat customer. So instead, people stay on the hamster wheel—more tests, more follow-ups, more worry. This isn’t me saying every lab or every provider is corrupt. It is saying we need to talk about how profit-driven incentives can distort healthcare outcomes in the U.S. A system built on repeat customers will never be optimized for people getting better.

In the Seanad today, I welcomed the failure of the Social Democrats to remove the three-day waiting period for abortion. Thousands of women have taken advantage of this waiting period to rethink and as a result went ahead with their pregnancy. Surely this is a cause for celebration, not the opposite. It seems to be a strategy on the extreme Left of politics to keep pushing for wider access to abortion, if only to prevent any discussion of the tragedy taking place in our midst– a major increase in the number of abortions taking place each year, no government strategy to reduce abortion or promote positive alternatives, and cruel practices in late-term abortion situations. People with different views on whether or when abortion should be legal should surely acknowledge that each abortion is a tragedy and we should work to reduce the numbers taking place.

I mean, when they say these things — whether they’re true or not — at the end of the day the average American voter cares about whether they can afford gas tomorrow, whether they can afford groceries for their families. The longer they spend talking about what’s happening overseas, most Americans are just going to tune it out and not trust what the administration is saying.
