Today, during our meeting with Dutch Prime Minister, we focused our discussion on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, including new air defense systems and the missiles for them. We also talked about F-16s for Ukraine and all the necessary weapons for our defense against the Russian occupiers, including shells for our soldiers, essential equipment, and the protection of our energy infrastructure. I am grateful to the Netherlands for announcing a new assistance package for Ukraine. We also discussed the possibility of the Netherlands taking on a patronage role over Zaporizhzhia, which would involve supporting infrastructure, protecting normal life, and addressing humanitarian issues. This is something that will definitely help Ukraine, and we deeply appreciate all the support from the people of the Netherlands, from Prime Minister Schoof personally, and from all the political and public figures in the Netherlands. And of course, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all our people, to everyone who is protecting Ukraine, our Zaporizhzhia, and all our cities and communities — to everyone fighting for Ukraine, working here in our country, and helping us. I am proud of our people and proud of Ukraine.

This evening, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon. Adv. F.T. Mhona, delivered the Keynote Address at the Welcome Dinner held in honour of Air Zimbabwe's Harare–London Gatwick Flights Celebration, at The Cumberland Hotel, Marble Arch, London, marking the national carrier's return to direct flights between the two cities after a 16-year hiatus. Addressing guests, Hon. Mhona described the milestone as the most visible expression of Zimbabwe's re-engagement agenda, manifested in the skies, noting that the restored route will strengthen trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people ties between Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom and Europe. The Minister said the flight, which touched down at Gatwick Airport at 08:10AM, carried more than passengers, but renewed friendship, restored confidence and reciprocal opportunity. Hon. Mhona paid tribute to the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority for the thorough and equitable process that culminated in the granting of the Foreign Operator Permit to Air Zimbabwe, stressing that the permit was earned on merit and would be kept on merit. He urged Zimbabweans in the diaspora, British investors and the broader business community to embrace the route as it reconnects Zimbabwe with the world. After the talks in Jeddah and the American proposal for a ceasefire on the frontline, Russia stole almost another week – a week of war that only Russia wants. We will do everything to further intensify diplomacy. We will do everything to make diplomacy effective. But every day now is about defending our independence, our state, and our people. We must remember – it is the support of our army, all our defense and security forces, and our state that determines everything. I thank each and every one who does not forget that Ukraine’s defense and resilience are paramount. I am grateful to all Ukrainian soldiers, every one of our units. I thank everyone who works for our defense and for our state. I thank all Ukrainians for every fundraiser for our Ukrainian army. We must remember – as long as the occupier is on our land, and as long as air raid sirens sound, we must defend Ukraine.

We are grateful for all the expressions of support for our state, as well as for the new aid packages aimed at supporting Ukraine’s energy sector and defense capabilities. We discussed Luxembourg’s participation in the reconstruction of the Kryvyi Rih district and the city of Kryvyi Rih, as well as our European integration. Diplomatic efforts to achieve a reliable peace were also on the agenda. Ukraine is ready for a full and unconditional ceasefire for a sufficient period, which should be the first step toward peace. We are ready for negotiations, but only after the killing of our people stops. And we are grateful to everyone who supports us in this.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and destruction caused by the recent cloudbursts and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the northern parts of Pakistan. Our hearts go out to the families who have lost loved ones, to those who are injured, and many whose homes and livelihoods have been swept away. The Government of Pakistan is mobilising all available resources to provide relief and conduct rescue operations. Federal and provincial agencies, the armed forces, and local administrations are working tirelessly to reach affected communities and ensure the safety of our citizens. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has chaired an emergency meeting, and the government is in close coordination to address immediate needs and plan for the long-term recovery of the impacted areas. Barring my long pre-scheduled official engagements with the Deputy Prime Minister of UK, Rt Hon Angela Rayner; Secretary General Commonwealth, Rt Hon Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey; H. E. Hamish Faulkner, Minister of State, UK Foreign Office; and members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords during my two-days visit to the UK, I will not be holding the planned community interaction with the British Pakistani diaspora. This decision has been taken in solidarity and respect for those who are grieving, and to ensure that our full attention remains on the national relief and recovery efforts. My sincere regrets to all the organizers of the community event. I am so proud to share that my bill The Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act passed the U.S Senate unanimously yesterday!! All 100 Senators stood for protecting children in youth residential treatment facilities and I couldn't have dreamed of a more powerful moment to be able to impact the system that harmed me. I am still in shock that my lived-experience, among the powerful survivor community, has been able to impact meaningful progress and change for the next generation of survivors. We still need this bill to get passed in the U.S House of Representatives to be signed by President Biden but WE ARE SO CLOSE! I am so grateful for the leadership of Chuck Schumer who has supported my initiative from the beginning, and to my bill sponsors Senator Jeff Merkley and Senator John Cornyn who I have had the honor to get to know personally and who have been the most dedicated, efficient, and collaborative bipartisan lawmakers. I am so lucky to have met you and to have worked with you on this!

Today, we received the awaited decision on the US aid package that we long fought for. And a very significant one. Our warriors on the front lines, as well as our cities and villages suffering from Russian terror, will feel it. The U.S. House of Representatives voted on it today. I thank everyone who supported our package, this is a solution for protecting life. I personally thank Speaker Mike Johnson and all American hearts who believe, as we do in Ukraine, that Russian evil must not be winning. I am hopeful that the bill will be quite quickly passed by the United States Senate and sent to President Biden. We appreciate every sign of support for our country and its independence, people, and way of life, which Russia is attempting to bury under the rubble. America has demonstrated its leadership since the first days of this war. Exactly this type of leadership is required to maintain a rules-based international order and predictability for all nations. We will undoubtedly use American assistance to strengthen both of our nations and bring a just end to this war closer, the war that Putin must lose. I thank our entire Ukrainian team and everyone who works tirelessly to bring this outcome closer. Today we have a new package of energy support from Norway – already the third this year – amounting to about 150 million dollars for gas purchases this winter. Energy support is extremely important. I thanked Norway for this assistance and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre personally during our meeting. I informed him about the consequences of today’s Russian attack. I am grateful for Norway’s solidarity and condolences. We discussed Ukraine’s needs for air defense systems and missiles for them, as well as other steps that can strengthen Ukraine during the winter. We also discussed our defense cooperation separately – the production of drones and missiles, and the expansion of the PURL initiative. We coordinated our positions and upcoming meetings to be held in Europe this week. We are very grateful for the great support of the Norwegian people – air defense systems, missiles for these systems – all of this saves lives.

During the 600 days of full-scale Russian aggression, I presented state awards to over 60 thousand Ukrainians for fighting for Ukraine. This is truly the full-scale bravery of our nation. The one rooted in its unbeatable trait. We are making every effort to provide our warriors with more air defense systems, to better protect our cities - to preserve life, including economic activity, and to develop industry, including the defense industry. All of this contributes to Ukraine's resilience and strength. I am grateful to all of our partners who help us. All those who will be with us for the long haul. All those who understand that this is a marathon and that running a marathon requires maintaining a constant tempo and calculating forces, as well as clearly seeing victory at the end of the distance.

I want to reiterate I am not picking the next coach at LSU. As Governor, it is my responsibility to protect the hard-earned tax dollars our citizens pay to the state. Everyone recognizes the tremendous amount of money at stake—money that our citizens could be on the hook for. In the absence of an LSU President, protecting our taxpayers AND the university we all love was of vital importance. As a father, fan, and a citizen who cares about our players, I have complete faith in Coach Wilson and that he will rally the boys the rest of the season and make LSU and all of Louisiana proud.
