I remember watching this as a young kid, that whole spell was box office. till this day, at least for me, the beauty of Test cricket lies in the premier fast bowler running in, reversing the ball, and trying to blow the stumps.

I miss the thrill of watching bowlers steam in and try to bowl 150-160km/h. I get why they don’t do that anymore but god it was fun to watch

I remember him bowling against NZ in a a random ODI where the team just seemed to be quaking in their shoes. He was a unique talent.

Saw some clips from the 90s where Akhtar managed to knock over Sachin and Dravid on a very flat track When he was on song, he was unstoppable

Shoaib could produce unplayable spells at times, it’s probably why I put him slightly ahead of Brett Lee as bowler. Lee added a lot more as a package with his batting and fielding though.

One of the rare occasions that he got Gilchrist out. Good delivery.
