You can use Animated Texture resource with Projective Textures. Here I have created this caustics effect in my Apple Vision Pro app using a Low Level Texture API released last year on VisionOS. The Orb has a Bloom Component on it creating a beautiful glow.

The caustics are limited to a spot and are not displayed on the sphere? Why?

Just how i created the effect. The spotlight is below the orb if it was above then the caustics would be on the sphere and there would be a round shadow below the sphere

So many cool demos lately in the Vision Pro arena. Is this Swift + RealityKit?

Yes purely swift and realitykit

Very cool. I didn’t realize that was an option and it seems like people are preferring that over Unity.

@doomdave Depends on what you’re building. I use both stacks. Different tools for different jobs. I wouldn’t recommend one over the other in all cases.

@maxbatt Agree with Joe, I have used Unity and want to test out Unreal. The beauty of RealityKit is that it is free. You don't have to pay the unity subscription annually. I do have hopes for the roadmap for RCP 3 it is has a lot of features from unity this year like Navigation Mesh etc.

@joecrotchett What about webXR / THREE. I’m having a pretty good experience w that albeit on Samsung Galaxy XR / Q3.

I will say use whatever platform you can push the medium with. I have been getting into Threejs and webXR lately as well. I like apple platforms because they make it really easy to make well designed experiences. Lot of the work I do is very UI heavy and SwiftUI has been the framework of choice for me, that said, I primarily build for apple platforms. I will probably do Unity if I have to do Q3.

@joecrotchett Very cool. Thx for the info. I will likely make the move to Apple once the next gen of hardware comes out. It does look very smooth
