"You cannot walk from point A to B inside OpenAI without hearing Codex get mentioned." Here's my new episode with Rohan Varma (Codex PM) on how he uses Codex as his everything app to: → Prototype designs with Image Gen → Turn repeated work into automations → Turn project...

@TheRohanVarma Codex as the app layer is the real shift.

@TheRohanVarma This is where we're headed: one human coordinating many AI workers. The orchestration layer gets you there, Runtime Economics tells you whether it's actually worth it.

@TheRohanVarma when the pm of a product uses it as their everything app thats either the best signal or the most obvious conflict of interest

The "everything app" angle is the real product question. A coding assistant stops feeling like autocomplete once it owns artifacts, branches, screenshots, docs, and follow-up tasks. Then the defaults matter a lot. I compared Claude Code and Codex from that angle here:

@TheRohanVarma Every day codex keeps surprising me the things people are building and automating with it are just insane need to try some of these workflows myself

@TheRohanVarma The interesting part is Codex becoming less of a coding surface and more of a workspace layer. Once threads can manage other threads, it starts feeling like ops, not autocomplete.

@TheRohanVarma Getting Codex to handle everything is the dream. For developers who type way too much code, voice dictation that actually works inside terminals and code editors feels like the next step. DictaFlow lets you fix things mid-sentence without having to redo whole lines.

@TheRohanVarma The part I’d watch is repeated work becoming automations. If Codex is an everything app, the boring receipts matter: saved task templates, tool scopes, and the point where it hands back instead of guessing.

@TheRohanVarma once you can schedule its own tasks it stops being an assistant, it's more like a background process at that point

@TheRohanVarma Turning project context directly into live Codex Sites, it saves so much setup

@TheRohanVarma cool how Codex handles 90% of tasks, still need human judgment for the rest

Three months ago, Codex was trash for knowledge work. Now it's my daily driver. I use it for writing, recruiting, deep engineering work, and everything in between. It even keeps me at inbox 0. I chatted with Every 🧱's head of growth Austin Austin Tedesco on Every 🧱's AI & I about what changed, and why he now spends 80% of his working time in the Codex desktop app too. We get into: - How Codex went from making Austin feel like an idiot to being the place he goes to get stuff done, including complex tasks like writing go-to-market plans using existing material from Slack, Notion, and meeting transcripts. - Why the Codex’s desktop app, which is faster and more reliable than Claude Desktop/Cowork, is the real differentiator. - How I source candidates with Codex by having it identify career arcs, not keywords—my go-to move is identifying organizations likely to teach the skills Every needs for a role, and then find candidates from that pool who have since gone on to work in AI. This is a must-watch for anyone who's wondering whether it’s finally time to give Codex a try. Watch below!
