You think they are insane, crazy, batshit. Nope, they are acting rationally. Because so many people have swallowed all their other insane policies without pushing back, hell, why not convince people that crime is ok. They want criminals on the street. That is their policy. It keeps High IQ, High Moral, conscientious people chasing their tails. They need the crime. The purpose is to always have problems to point at. It is to always point at something that needs funding. Plus it drains your spirit and your energy, so you can't point it in their direction. It is on purpose. It is with intent.

The implication is they're testing how far they can push the narrative that crime is a social good.

The number one benefit of shoplifting is the businesses either lock up normal items and frustrate their customers or they close the business in that area and move. I guess it depends on who's benefit you're talking about? I love how the politicians criticize companies when they move from high crime areas but those same politicians refuse to support law enforcement. Another reason the average American hates politicians!

And I’d be shocked to find that anyone said to Pinto: ” Are you nuts?” This is how nutty ideas gain traction. Everyone collegially nods while only thinking what should be said. The smackdown of lunacy needs to happen immediately!

There's no need to do studies. Social experiments starting in the 1700s and continuing up through modern Communist/socialist attempts prove that two foundational pillars of society are division of labor with a market or market like exchange and a merit based reward status system. Those experiments repeatedly show that no society above Dunbar in-group limits and first degree proxy trust limits (~1500 to ~3000 people total) cannot function at all without all six merit trust pillars. Few societies even within those population limits function at all without those two pillars, with the vast majority either instituting those pillars again, or dissolving. The remarkably small number of societies that do not dissolve or institute those pillars, stall and stagnate with no growth or innovation. Human wetware is not capable of high trust dynamics beyond those limits. Not even with fission fusion hacks. The five of six outliers that appear to defy this paradigm, exist only within a specific narrow set of parameters that incorporated a genuine fission fusion external existential threat, a strong myth/narrative of delayed reward, and social contract with a limited time or sunset clause on the temporary extreme conditions. Bayesian priors update to prevent perpetuate threat paradigms, normalizing conditions with diminishing returns as "fatigue" builds. Violating the existing myth/narrative to eliminate the reward/status system by legislating a top down inversion of bottom social order is a direct and blatant violation of the social contract we arguably agree to when we participate in the society. That breach of contract breaks social order, destroys trust in the system, and will result in significant social collapse. Beyond that, capitalism isn't some arbitrary ideology. It's a social hack to achieve fairness in low trust situations. Something socialism lacks any ability to do, instead attempting to impose regulation as a substitute. But, govt cannot enforce regulation in every situation, and especially after it's credentialing has most merit. Trust erodes and factionalism reverts to tribalism. What where seeing from Democrats, is encouraging tribalism as an attack on trust social systems to impose regulation control without trust or merit. It's cooked to failure because it's not capable of fulfilling the intended role.
