Kale is bullshit. As someone who got 2 kidney stones after drinking kale, spinach, blueberry, and almond milk shakes every day for a year straight, don't eat kale.

Misinformation. Isothiocyanates are a group of compounds that have anti cancer effects. Why omit that? Most studies showing negative effects on thyroid function are on animals, some show no effect unless the animals had thyroid dysfunction. Human studies not conclusive. Different cruciferous veg have different amounts of goitrogens. Siberian Kale has higher, regular much lower. You would probably have to eat VERY HIGH amounts of RAW kale such as 1 KILOGRAM A DAY to have an effect on a healthy thyroid. You can lessen them by cooking and adding iodised salt anyway. Heavy metals? heavy metal in many things. yes leafy greens absorb them from soil. So do root veg like potatoes and carrots. It's the soil not the veg's fault. Guess what contains heavy metals? Meat and dairy. hard to avoid. Blame the sewage companies poisoning the soil. He makes the claim based on bad science from a guy called Ernie Hubbard. Taken from an article that got into contact with the original researchers: "For his next step, according to the profile, Hubbard began collecting samples of local kale around California and sending them to labs to test for heavy metals. Hubbard eventually brought his samples to a lab in Illinois called Doctors Data. Doctors Data also happens to be the subject of numerous lawsuits and court orders for misleading the public with test results that were used to peddle bogus dietary supplements and detox therapies. Not an auspicious sign." Hmmm.... "Since there have been no kale-human studies, I asked Filip Poscic, a molecular biologist at the University of Udine in Italy who has also studied the thallium-Brassica link, to conjecture how much kale one would need to eat to get sick. He suspected it'd take kilograms of kale every day, a feat even the most ardent vegan probably couldn't accomplish. "It is close to impossible for humans to be poisoned by eating kale from normal soil," he wrote. "However, plants (of any kind) cultivated on and near toxic heavy-metal deposits, waste and so on are to be avoided in kitchen." Eat your cruciferous veg. It’s all true, I ate Kale once and I passed away.

steak and eggs never lied to me

I ate tonnes of it and was very healthy. I obviously ate other foods but it never seemed to do me any harm. I did buy into the superfood hype but I think if you don’t feel really bad after eating it then I don’t see a problem. There’s lots of vitamins and minerals.

Why do I feel so much better after juicing large amounts then? My body heals and inflammation subsides within a day or two.

Kale is highest on the vegetable and leafy greens nutrient density chart.

Newsflash, dumbo. Nobody in 2023 cares about kale.

I can’t stand kale! Someone said once if you sauté it in coconut oil, it’s easier to scoop it into the trash! 🤣

Really, that Kale is not good for your health?

The more I come across these people, if ya listen to everyone who claims to know this or that... we'd end up eating nothing, hahahahaaaa. It's always some new study saying this isn't good for you, but that is, next week, that isn't, and this is... sheesh...

@BTexas1969 By weight, kale is 17% bugs.

@ezdubs_bot english portuguese

Can’t spell kale without an “L”.

Boil it. Drink the juice. Great source of magnesium.

And not just about kale, either 😊

Hate kale. Worst plant ever. Never bought into the hype. Felt like was eating plastic 🤮

Word

It spells like piss. We sometimes get precut Kale for our WFPB customers and when you open that bag it smells like cat urine. Probably shouldn’t eat it.

I watched without sound and first thought it was a rap video 🤣

Stop eating vegetables... got it.

Does this mean I can finally stop pretending that I enjoy kale salads?!

At Applebee's, we used kale as a plate garnish. The first time someone offered me kale to eat, I looked at them like they were crazy. "Kake isn't food, it's a decoration."

What are the healthiest vegetables to eat then?

keep it as a garnish!

Tastes like shit for a reason!

The most based take from you, Paul.

They convinced me to eat out women and now I'm out of money. MFS

Interesting. I wonder what your take on chlorella is.

Not a fan of kale myself. I am a fan of a variety of greens and trying new ones. Found some new mustard greens at the farmers market today! Gorgeous leaves and just delicious! Gotta keep switching things up, weekly. Also got a bok Choy relative, that's for tm.

@LDLSkeptic Please show data.

Leafy green alternatives to kale?

@chefdonnyy

I ate a whole head of kale in a pot of chicken soup over the course a couple of day. Came down with severe blood clots, which likely nearly killed me. I blame the Vitamin K, the clotting vitamin, in kale, which is off the charts.
