As a boy, I was at a friend’s place, and as we were about to leave his house he comes back in saying that we were “stuck” inside, because of a nest in the corner of his canopy awning. “Stuck” is an interesting word; it’s a bit limiting, but also fairly easily ignored. I grabbed his mother’s hairspray, and a Bic lighter, then went outside and painted the thing in more hellfire than the devil’s briefs after Mexican leftovers. Elegant, is what it was. I’ve done it a couple of times since. It works, both in the functional and emotional sense. I just FEEL better afterwards, and there’s no more bees, so I really can’t recommend it enough.
