Howard Hawks on his meeting with Al Capone & what Capone and another famous Chicago gangster thought about 'Scarface' (1932) when they saw the film: "Interviewer: Did you have any contact with Al Capone while making the picture? Hawks: While we were making 'Scarface' (1932), five or six of them came out and said, “The boss wants us to see the picture.” And I said, “You go and tell him when it comes out, he can pay a dollar and buy a ticket. Then he asked me to come again, and I stopped by there. But there was a shooting in Chicago, so they said that he couldn’t come because he was hiding out in Atlantic City or something. That kid isn’t a prop. He’s somebody’s son standing on a stranger’s porch in the heat, trying to finish a route so he can go home. I have a Ring camera too. I use it to see if the grandkids made it up the steps, not to turn a working person into a punchline. We used to leave the milkman a thank-you note. Now we hide, hit record, and call it content when a delivery driver flinches. Scare-cam videos travel because the reaction is real.
