One word.. #Aquanet 😎 It’s been proudly keeping hair “locked into its sprayed location” for many, Many years. The 80’s may have Emphasized its use, but it’s been a Gold Standard of “Never-Moving-type” of hold, on any Height, Style, or Curl for decades.😉😁😄

💯

Yeah lol We had real hairspray in the 80s. That stuff would hold drywall up.

💯

Stiff stuff hairspray. Tease. Throw your head towards the floor. Spray it again while it’s all upside down. Throw the hair back and flatten to desired amount of height. Spray again. Stay away from flames for the next 48hrs

🤣

Got me at didnt hold the challenger together 😂😂💀

🤣

Back in the day when all of us girls were using the Aqua Net, I remember them talking about the whole in the ozone. As soon as we stopped, you didn't really hear about the whole anymore.

Exactly 🤣

So you take your brush and you hold it up on top of your hair after you spray your hair and then you use your blow dryer to blow dry your hair up

You must have done this before 🤔🤣

Hair dryer and spray at the same time And none of that healthy spray with oils for shine and bounce You need the shit that stops you from breathing effectively and causes hearing loss from adhesive buildup

Bro had me when he said "it was used to hold space ships together, not the Challenger" 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭

I remember when I was a kid they were already addressing the sprays toxicity and changing them. The last ones to be that strong were probably from the late 90s or early 2000s, after that you could tell the differences immediately.

Yes

She has to dystroy the ozone if she wants her hair as high as Jesus.

🤣

I miss the 80s!🥲

💯

Hairspray made the best flamethrowers.

Worked great for potato guns as well

This shit right here. You could also waterproof your basement with it.

You can’t seriously criticize her hair when we’re seen mullet and mustache combos make a comeback in the last five years or so. I respect a skullet more than the mulletstache.

🤣

Aussie brand. Freeze spray. No other brand no other kind. It’s the closest to Aqua net

Girl, brush that hair upside down, then use gel or aquanet on your fingertips, rub it into your scalp, now flip your hair over and spray it all with aquanet. And stay away from open flames. 🔥

you need at least 1 can per week

You had to do this every 6-9 months 🥴 Perms were the secret to big hair if curly hair was not natural for you

First of all, I would love to appreciate the fact that she is trying to bring back that hair style! It still hasn't re-surfaced since then. If you're still sporting it today it's fully because the Aqua-Net is still holding 🤣

Aqua net and a hair drier. Comb pull, spray, hot dry, tease. Then spray again. ❤️

Big Hair Don't Care from the late 80's here. First, you have to start with a good spiral perm. I have wavy/thick hair. But spiral perms gave it lift from the roots on out. Second, we had INDUSTRIAL hair spray back then. We are the cause of climate change. You're welcome

Old School Aquanet. My nanny would go get her hair done at the beauty shop then come out to the car and pull a big can of it from her purse. She'd grab a Benson-Hedges 100, light it, and proceed to empty the can of hairspray into her hair... in the car..... while smoking like a freight train.... with the windows rolled up. We're lucky we didn't have COPD and emphysema by second grade. The good old days, y'all. 😂😂

Oh GIRL. Her hair is SO HEALTHY. And pretty. I weep for her. 😢😢😢 But ok! She asked….. In order to achieve that perfect all day 80’s height (like…. gotta lean your head a bit sideways when you sit in the car height….). She’s gonna need to do a whoooole lotta damage first! Get a perm. A bad one. With the oldest, crappiest, harshest chemicals possible. Ask your 13 year old neighbor to do it. Less experience & a few mistakes = BEST RESULTS! Even better — the same day, bleach hair with THE WORST boxed color possible ($$ store or back of your gramma’s closet best type). Toss out any modern products with, “heat protectants.” Start BURNING THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR HAIR. Spray a section to curl (on highest heat) until wet with Aqua Net (go to $$ store, best bet for recalled or old cans). Or — use your mom or gramma’s oldest moose. Saturate hair sections as you go. Roll up wet section into curling iron. Yes, it is “steaming,” & sizzling. PERFECT! 👌🏻 Start dancing to song, talk to someone in room… wait till hair is dry (& possibly smoking). Release & allow to cure. Do entire top of head & top sides. Now the fun part! Get a comb or brush that can really do some damage (think — lice comb). Start anywhere — AND TEASE THOSE CRISPY ROLLS! Add copious amounts of Aqua Net as you go (or $$ store Stiff Stuff) — but don’t soak hair. You don’t want to flatten it. Keep dancing & teasing & spraying ….. Burn hair with curling iron repeatedly in stubborn areas. Flip hair upside down & spray. Allow hair to dry before flinging head upright. Do this a few times. Give one good last coat to shellac & seal. And you’ll be good to go! 🌸 Girls like this modern one….. Would never leave the house at this point, however. They’d collapse to the floor in a heap of sobs — their hair like an abused Barbie’s. All plastic & FROZEN following them to the floor…… unmoved by their tears. What I don’t think the, “retro 80’s” pics show (cameras were ARCHAIC back then, what do you expect?!)…… Is that our hair looked plastic. You could literally see the shine from LAYERS of product. Often a lotta white crap as well (our products were what they were 🤷🏼♀️). PLUS — you couldn’t wash your hair daily. No way! And all around the frozen for all time top — the longer ends were fried & absolutely damaged. 🪩 PRO TIPS: — Smoke a cigarette. Like …… just to complete the vibe. Be totally obvious about trying your best to like totally avoid your bitchin’ 80’s hair. Just like we did! TOTALLY. — Don’t forget your Wet & Wild Blackest Black eye liner! Sharpen with old regular pencil sharpener from back of junk drawer. Or steak knife. Leaving sharp wooden edges produces most vintage look! Use lighter or match to begin melting product. QUICKLY line top, bottom & water lines. Re-melt as needed. (You need it to HURT to get best look). — Dollar store mascara. Coat, coat - & leave lots of clumps. Seperate with whatever pushpin that’s closest. 📌 (Don’t cry….. having 1/4 of your lashes ripped out looks AUTHENTIC!!!) Like Viva la 80’s! (Kinda……. 😉 )

For flat tops or Mohawks:

Hair spray followed by the blow dryer. Cements the hair so well a hurricane couldn’t move it.

The only hairspray that we used.

Amateur!

I used Aquanet to seal charcoal drawings. Worked as well as the expensive stuff from the art store.

Nothing beats 1980's AquaNet

Aqua net is the only way! Tons of it!🤣🤣🤣🤣

I remember walking into a party and my boyfriend going ahead saying, ‘watch the hair folks… keep your cigarettes back, HAIR coming through!’ My best friend used to say, ‘she didn’t just tease it, she made it mad!’ We called it Cosmo hair because EVERY cover had giant hair!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

No one caught that challenger joke?? 😂

Well maybe not the Challenger got me

Lol, i had a friend who ran into the shops to buy smokes and a lighter(back in the day when lighters had adjustable flames). She had her hair all boofed up 80's style. Anyway, she lit the cigarette and the flame was really high, set fire to her hair. Went 'Woof'. Funny as fuck

🤣
