Who among you knows about the 2019 acquittal of Joel Villanueva? Well, I must first agree that before declaring drastic actions the Ombudsman should have done his due diligence and had a thorough sweep of anything from his office about Joel Villanueva. But man! No one really knows about that reversal, huh? At first I thought that maybe I just missed it! But I figured that I have been writing a lot about Senator Villanueva since he sabotaged the plenary debate on the SOGIE bill early in the 19th Congress and a lot more of his terrible decisions/ drama/ speeches etc — I think if there were indeed articles about the reversal, I would have seen it. Then, a Rappler article confirmed that 1. No mention of the Ombudsman in any of Sen. Villanueva’s official social media pages 2. No Press Release from the Senate 3. Even reporters assigned to the institution said it’s unheard of. Well, in several instances that Senator Villanueva was under fire, he did not clarify this PDAF scam reversal. And he is not the type who shuts his mouth up. He’s actually the opposite. Truth be told? I cannot remember all the details of the Napoles list and the whole PDAF scam scandal. But I know for a fact that if the 2019 reversal was publicized — there will be an uproar from those who seek accountability.
