Ana Sayfaya Dön

Your average Nu-Warhammer fan is entirely obsessed with surface level aesthetics for determining moral righteousness. The scene from the recent Yarrick trailer is literally a remake of the scene from Return of the King were Denethor calls for the men of Gondor to flee, and Gandalf stops him before...

In The Return of the King, the intense retreat from Osgiliath was edited very differently in an earlier version of the film. Initially, the whole sequence was meant to cut back and forth with Gandalf and Pippin arriving at Minas Tirith coincidentally at the exact same time the retreat was taking place. This is why Pippin is riding with Gandalf on Shadowfax in the rescue scene. They later reshuffled it, mostly for better pacing but also to align more closely with how Tolkien wrote it in the book, where Gandalf arrives at the city much earlier, and the retreat occurs after he is already there, with the Nazgûl appearing as the survivors near the gates. Peter Jackson even talked about it on the commentary track, they originally shot it so Gandalf and Pippin are just arriving, spot the retreat from the hill, wheel around, and gallop straight out to intervene before even entering the city. When they moved the sequence and had Gandalf ride out from the gates instead, the Pippin detail simply remained as a leftover from the first edit. For comparison, Pippin remains in the city in the corresponding section of the book. ...Pippin got up and peered out. At that moment he caught a flash of white and silver coming from the North, like a small star down on the dusky fields. It moved with the speed of an arrow and grew as it came, converging swiftly towards the Gate... But now the dark swooping shadows were aware of the newcomer. One wheeled towards him; but it seemed to Pippin that he raised his hand, and from it a shaft of white light stabbed upwards. The Nazgul gave a long wailing cry and swerved away... - The Return of the King - Book V, Chapter 4: The Siege of Gondor

The Yazidis are really starting to annoy me. To begin with, the people who liberated you, protected your honor, and welcomed you were the Kurds. Instead of thanking them, you belittle them?! This Yazidi claims that there is no Kurdish language and that it is actually the Êzdikî language. He also says that the original Kurds were Yazidis because the religion of the Kurds before Islam was Yazidism. (This narrative was promoted by the PKK.) He also claims that “we are older than the Kurds,” which is a lie. First, it is called the Kurdish language, and the Kurds have been mentioned for thousands of years, whereas the idea of a Yazidi nationality was established by the PKK in 2014 after what they call the “liberation.” No historical book has ever described the Yazidis as a nationality, and there was no one in the world a hundred years ago whose ethnicity was “Yazidi.” Second, the religion of the Kurds before Islam was Zoroastrianism, Yazdanism, or Christianity. There was no such thing as a religion called Yazidism at that time. Third, the Yazidi religion is originally a religion that deviated from Islam. They are followers of Adi ibn Musafir, the Arab Sunni Umayyad, who was praised by Ibn Taymiyyah. The tomb of Adi (Sheikh Adi) is located in Lalish today, and the Yazidis worship it. Fourth, when a Kurd calls you Kurds, it is because he loves you and sympathizes with you because of what happened to you. Otherwise, your entire sect is of no benefit to the Kurds. Finally, Sinjar is Kurdish and will remain Kurdish. People of other national identities will be expelled from it. And let me remind you that the backbone of Kurdish nationalism has always been, and still is, the Sunni Kurds, who are deeply devoted to the Kurdish nation.
