I’m jealous of today’s parents of little ones! When my ( now 55yo) son was little taking pictures was expensive and problematic, a video was an impossible dream. You guys are so lucky to be able record these wonderful moments.

I read a story the other day about a guy who had become concerned that he was developing an unhealthy addiction to his iPhone. His name is Carlos Whitaker, and unlike me – another guy who has become concerned that he has developed an unhealthy addiction to his iPhone – Carlos wanted to see just how profound his addiction was. Cop pulls this guy over and insists that the sandwich he was eating was actually his cell phone. Even when corrected he doubles down on his incompetence. We are in Lawrence River Park where one of their Police officers pulls over a man eating a sandwich while driving because he is absolutely convinced he saw a cell phone in the driver’s hand. You can see the exact moment the officer gets corrected on it not being a cell phone, only to double down on his "expert" observation. Even after the driver explicitly tells him it’s a sandwich, the officer hits him with the classic, "I know what a sandwich looks like, it was your phone... a rectangular thing, whether it was your wallet, your phone, it looked like your phone." My guy, it has lettuce sticking out of it. Also the sandwich was sitting right on the passenger seat. Instead of just admitting he mistook a quick lunch for a distracted driving violation, he tries to save face by acting like he’s doing the driver a massive favor. He runs the license and wraps up the stop by saying he’s going to "trust" him and just issue a warning this time. If you're going to power trip over distracted driving, at least make sure the suspect isn't just trying to finish their midday snack. This is one of those 🤦 moments. At least he was not a total tyrant where he issued a citation or worse.

When his son needs him, he shows up to help, to encourage, to teach, and to offer a moment of companionship and cinnamon rolls. And he always tells him how proud he is. Is this good parenting? Or, is leaving your son alone in the woods pushing it too far?

We often see this with vocalizations, but as this fantastic video from brittdipp on TT shows us, this mimicry isn’t limited to speech. Watch as this little one works to mirror his father’s spider-like hand gesture in which he walks his fingers across the table to engage his son. One of the things this video illustrates particularly well is the importance of wait time. This is a complex task for our hero and his “return” is far from instantaneous. It requires real concentration. And you can see his mental gears turning! Watch how carefully he observes his own hand, initially managing to slide it back toward dad with mostly a closed fist. The baby just stayed calm as if he’s used to this kind of thing. Just impressed he didn’t crush the baby. Then he climbs out like no big deal…and….. he left his phone so he can call it later and wake the baby up. 😂 How many drinks do we think Grandpa had ? 🥴

This guy stands in the parking lot holding his phone with a big grin while his wife on the other end of the call says “we are not purchasing a boat.” He just smiles wider like he already knows exactly how this day is going to end. The camera pans to show his lifted truck hooked up to the sleek white boat on the trailer. He tows it down to the water, launches it smooth, and the next thing you know he’s cruising across the lake with the boat slicing through the waves. As we are learning more each day, our mental health can truly be life or death… On April 16, 2020…Drew Robinson, a MLB player at the time, attempted to take his own life with a self-inflicted gun shot to his his head…20 hours later sitting in his own blood, pain & confusion of how he was still alive, Drew was faced with the decision to either finish the job of ending his life or call for help.
