Your Claude Projects cloud session can now connect to a folder you approve on your computer. The session stays in the cloud and only reaches for that local folder when a task needs it, reading and editing the files in place. Starting to roll out today.

Be the first to know when Claude Projects is more broadly available:

been running all my side projects from claude projects every day, this one is huge. one thing tho, on the windows desktop app i cant change the effort inside a thread, only for the whole project. would love it per thread

Sharing this with the rest of the team now!

thanks dan! one correction, i meant permissions not effort lol. in projects i cant set bypass permissions mode on a thread, so with computer use i end up approving every single step. a per thread option would be amazing

@dfeinition @chitodev projects default to auto mode and there shouldn't be a way to change it, can you share a screenshot to help make sure we're talking about the same thing?

Profilbild von chitodev

here it is. in the project chat and threads theres no mode picker at all, only model and effort. the approvals happen in a "work locally" thread that uses chrome on my pc. opened as a local session the picker shows up, but bypass gives "permission mode couldnt be changed" . i get it if thats on purpose, but for computer use approving every single click gets painful. even an "allow for this site" option would help a lot

@dfeinition the Coordinator should not run in the cloud if the threads are locally! and Coordinator not reading global and repo's CLAUDE.md is killing me! please Projects have insane potential but there are lots of dumb decisions going on...

So before: Projects can spawn workers in cloud or local sessions for tasks needing local work Now: Cloud sessions can also work with local files without needing to hand off to a local session?

i noticed Claude Projects work on cloud but not local. is there a way to make it available on local too? the reason is because mods not working in cloud and i have to make some workaround.

This product has completely changed how I work. Only issue is that auto mode blocks everything the subagents want to do. Would be great if I could give them broader permissions without always modifying the config

Hi Dan, I have access to the beta projects. When starting a new project, I initially got a popup saying the first 500 files of a folder are added, and to reupload if more are needed. Now, I get a notification it only uploads the first 100 files. Do you plan to increase this?

I have a ~/Projects/:org/:repo folder pattern with a ton of projects on it ... is the idea I can permit access to one folder to freely create multiple projects?

Why only one folder, and why make it require approval per task? Projects are practically unusable with local work right now, the Coordinator keeps making simple mistakes because it can't access any of the context that the Threads can.

That's huge, thanks! Will try it and probably adopt it pretty fast

the hybrid cloud-local agent is the endgame nobody pitched: your files stay put, the compute lives in a datacenter, and the agent just reaches in when it needs something. the cloud stopped being a place and became a coworker with a really long commute 😅

How do symlinks out of the approved folder behave? A repo can link to files elsewhere, so the permission check needs to use the resolved path, not just the path the agent asked for.

Profilbild von Chirag Jain

Love this, and we use Projects daily. One snag worth flagging: once a cloud thread is linked to the computer, the proxy blocks any POST to a host without an environment credential ("no rule allows host… connected to your computer"). That kills OAuth token refresh, so CLIs like gws can't write to Google Docs/Sheets. Allowed-domain entries don't exempt it, and a credential strips the CLI's own auth header. > > The only workaround is "Require trusted devices", but then Projects refuses Remote Control ("not supported yet"). So today it's either PC access or Google writes in a project, never both. A per-project opt-out of linking, or honoring allowed domains for linked threads, would fix it. Details + repro:

Love the reach-in-only-when-needed model. The question my ops brain asks first: what does the cloud session do when the task needs that folder and the laptop lid is closed? Queue and resume beats hallucinating the file. #ClaudeCode
