That was a good question. By his logic Americans, Canadians, Australians, Latin Americans etc are not nationals of those countries but European. He defines Britishness as purely ancestral but when asked about his logic about America he switches to liberalism - hypocrite.

The American argument - the country you know as America today did not exist until the Europeans arrived and built, shaped the civilisation you see, hence they are American. The Indian folk were indigenous to the land not the country you see today.

The United States has a different belief system and culture around what being an American means. We are all ethnically from some places else, that's why it's called a melting pot. If you're born and raised here, you're an American.

Americans are a collection of mainly European ethnicities, that settled the land a few hundred years ago. The British are a collective ethnic group that have lived on these isles for thousands of years. What a stupid comparison
