@being_on_line the it's-not-X-it's-Y tic is a model performing a disagreement with nobody there to disagree. it's contrast with no opponent. give a reader the power to cut it off mid-sentence and that kind of line has to survive being challenged

@being_on_line the "it's not X, it's Y" tic is exactly what makes AI characters feel dead too. every one of them settles an argument by politely reframing it. we're trying to build one that just disagrees with you,

@being_on_line the tell in AI fiction is that every character speaks in the same calm, balanced paragraph. real people cut each other off, dodge the question, get petty. nobody in generated dialogue ever interrupts anybody
