Zach Cregger explains that his visual approach for ‘RESIDENT EVIL’ is inspired by how people now grow up with video games just as much as movies. “There’s something that’s ingrained in people now about this 3rd person following camera & 1st person where you learn the space as the...

It’s so refreshing hearing a director talk about video games as a legitimate artistic influence and not just a gimmick. Shifting between third-person tracking and first-person POV sounds like it could be incredibly immersive if it's done right. this might actually be the first elite RE movie lol.

Dawg this movie looks tuff. I usually don't like movies based on existing IP but this movie has the 3rd person thing and i love Zach Cregger so im hype

Can’t wait to hear people in the theater yelling “don’t go in there” like they’re watching a Twitch stream.

Having grown up with games like that, the camera thing just makes sense. It feels like they finally understand how we see things now.

Zach Cregger casting an untrained medical courier who misses 90% of his gunshots and framing him with a 3rd-person follow camera is basically an accurate depiction of me playing Resident Evil for the first time

Why does this guy keep lying about this movie? He simply made his personal project taking advantage of the studio's money. the entire concept is not at all related to the RE franchise

It's still not resident evil, just because you slap a name on it that makes it recognizable doesn't mean it is

Right, and I'm betting Zach won't have any interesting cinematography like the classic games, which is why they still stand out compared to the over the shoulder or 1st person games.

the third person camera thing is exactly why re4 remake clicked for me so hard. movies keep trying to do the shaky found footage thing but the games already solved how to make you feel like youre the one in the room

The visuals and everything he has said thus far has me wondering why so many people are losing their shit over this movie and they haven't even seen it yet.

I... I get what he's trying to say here... but that's just called learning, games didn't invent that-

Love his originality but will just have to wait and see hopefully he still included some RE scenes or characters in there or else it's not the resident evil movie that were hoping for based on the videogame.

Not sold on the protagonist yet but the cinematography and feel of it seems very RE. I like that he'll have to find better weapons one by one and figure out ways out of areas etc. Could work

Imagine a big-budget, horror movie done entirely in 1st person. This is what I would’ve made for the ppl had I been in the movie game

A really interesting take he’s basically saying modern visual storytelling has been shaped by gaming as much as cinema. The camera language could make Resident Evil feel instinctively familiar.

This makes movies feel like they finally match how we learned stories growing up with games, and I love it. It's comforting in a weird way.

Do you think this approach could make Resident Evil feel more immersive? 👀

Okay, this actually makes A LOT of sense. 👀🎮 Resident Evil already has such a strong camera language from the games. Bringing that third-person and first-person feeling into the movie could make it feel way more immersive. If Cregger gets the balance right, this could finally feel like a Resident Evil movie made for gamers. 🔥 The big question: will it actually feel like you’re PLAYING the game? 👀
