Russia's use of online influence campaigns deserves serious scrutiny, especially when Ukrainian volunteers report coordinated harassment. But a drop in Yandex search-crawler traffic isn't, by itself, proof that social-media propaganda bots disappeared. Comparing independently verified bot activity before and after the outages would help establish whether the reported decline was real.

I don't think the importance of this can be overstated.

I feel like any reasonable person was aware of these bots for the past 10+ years. Western intelligence had to know, the real question is why didn’t authorities call this out and communicate with the platforms to prevent the spread of disinfo/propaganda that influences elections?
