When we started responding to Russia’s operation against our data centers, and when our strikes reached Yandex’s data centers, it suddenly became a little easier to breathe on many social media platforms. A lot of people noticed it. There was less hate, less division, and fewer provocations. Because there...

Bots or propagandists have nothing to do with reality! Ukraine is teetering on the brink of total collapse; #Kyiv is almost without electricity or water, and other cities will follow! Ukraine will be in the dark this winter – that’s the reality! All this talk about bots😂😂😂😂 Ridiculous! Ukraine has completely different problems, and they’re certainly not the #Bots!! Trottel!!

To stop the Russian disinformation, you have to hit even more data centers.

kind of incredible how we built this massive global library called the internet just to let a hostile state turn it into an automated psychological warfare zone, glad someone is finally doing something physical about it instead of just writing another useless deeply concerned policy paper

I believe that Ukraine and President Zelenskyy deserve international recognition for standing up to Russia whilst minimising, as far as possible, any breaches of international law. Keep up the good work m(_ _)m ^^)

You are one of the few who haven't realized that your people are serving as cannon fodder to wear Russia down, so it can be invaded and shattered more easily. The tragedy is that too many Ukrainians still haven't grasped this—and that they haven't come for you yet.

President of Ukraine: We will work calmly with the US and all our partners. There will be a constructive search for solutions with our main partner. We will definitely not give the enemy any reason to say that Ukraine does not want peace, that it is disrupting the process, and that Ukraine is not ready for diplomacy. This is the dignity and freedom of Ukrainians, because everything else is based on this: our sovereignty, our independence, our land, our people, and Ukraine's future. We will and must do everything we can to ensure that in the end, there is an end to the war and not an end to Ukraine, Europe, and global peace. I have just spoken with Europeans, and we are counting on our European friends, who understand that Russia is not far away, that it is close to the EU's borders, and that Ukraine is now the only shield separating comfortable European life from Putin's plans. We remember that Europe was with us, and we believe that Europe will be with us. Ukraine should not experience déjà vu of February 24, when we felt that we were alone, when no one could stop Russia except our heroic people, who stood as a wall against Putin's army. And we were certainly very pleased when the world said, "Ukrainians are incredible. God, how Ukrainians fight, how Ukrainians struggle, what titans they are." And that is absolutely true. But Europe and the whole world must understand another truth - that Ukrainians are, first and foremost, people. And for almost four years of full-scale invasion, we have been holding back one of the largest armies in the world, and we are holding a front line of several thousand kilometers. And every night, our people endure shelling, missile attacks, ballistic missile and Shaded strikes. And every day, our people lose someone close to them. And our people really, really want this war to end. We are, of course, made of steel, but even the strongest metal can give way. Don't forget that. Stand with Ukraine, stand with our people. And therefore, stand with dignity and freedom.

David Friedberg: Michael Burry’s Datacenter Math is Wrong “I actually think Michael Burberry's got this wrong.” “What Michael Burry is saying is that all of these hyperscalers have extended their depreciation schedule or the useful life of their data centers by roughly 2x, which cuts the operating costs in half when they report it in earnings. And so it's making their earnings inflate.” “So he's claiming they're cooking the books. Google first made this change in Q1 of 2021, where they said the servers are now going from 3 to 4 years. Separately in 2021, Google took networking equipment from 3 to 5 years. And then in 2023, they took it from 5 to 6 years.” “And so this is a result of this effort where they went in and did an analysis. So what happened?” “What happened in the data centers is that the data centers transitioned from being primarily data storage and data transfer systems, where you would use hard drives and RAM and memory to store data and then transmit it back out, to being data processing centers because of the AI boom.” “So as AI became more important in the data center, more of the dollars that are going into data centers were allocated towards chips from data storage, which initially was hard drives.” “And then suddenly, when you put these processors in to process the data to do AI, the majority of the spend and the majority of the energy is going towards the processors.” “I made some calls and I checked around with some other friends, and everyone says the same thing: that these 7-8 year old TPUs and GPUs that are sitting in the data centers are still being used and they're being used at 100% utilization.” “So that actually justifies and validates the depreciation schedule being much longer versus shorter.”
