Do share this with as many people as possible, because Brihana is also a bigot. Why is that, you ask? Well, she apparently has a problem with Jews as people and objects to the Jews having a country of their own in their ancestral homeland, where they have been living continuously for 3,300 years. She has no problem with the Japanese living in Japan or Italians in Italy. It’s only the Jews who can’t live in their ancestral homeland. It is wrong to scapegoat, it is wrong to hold Jewish people accountable for something you don’t like on the other side of the planet. And we really need leaders on all sides in politics, running for office, podcasters, to stop with the conspiracies, to stop with the accusations, and then tell us ‘but we oppose antisemitism’. But take a closer look at his use of the phrase “the Jewish state”. What Greenblatt is actually doing here is claiming it’s an antisemitic conspiracy theory to blame the state of Israel for its war crimes, while simultaneously lumping all Jewish people in with the actions of that state. That’s what he’s doing when he says “Jewish people, the Jewish state” in the same breath while talking about Israeli acts of mass military violence. It’s so obnoxious how genocide apologists like Greenblatt make a living actively telling everyone that Jews and Judaism are inseparable from the acts of the Israeli government, but whenever there’s an extremist attack by someone who doesn’t distinguish between western Jews and the state of Israel it gets blamed on the pro-Palestine left. Jonny Ardavanis on Isaiah 53 and what it has to do with God’s preservation of the Jewish people: “But I want you to notice as we turn to Isaiah 53 that all of these verbs are in the past tense. It does not say He will be pierced through for our transgressions. He will be crushed. It says what? ‘He was.’ Every verb starting in verse 1 all the way through verse 11 in the past tense, meaning that this is prophetic, and yet, it is written in such a way as if it had already happened. Why? Well, because this is the mournful confession of the Jews in the future. I’ve been getting asked a lot about Israel and the Jews lately, and I’ll discuss this more in the future, maybe do a little series, but there is a reason why you’ve never met a Jebusite, an Edomite, an Amorite, a Hittite, a Perizzite, or a Philistine.
