🇸🇾 on behalf of the Arab Group: “The Arab Group condemns in the strongest terms the illegal Israeli decisions and measures aimed at imposing unlawful Israeli sovereignty, entrenching settlement activities, and imposing a new legal and administrative reality in the occupied West Bank, in a manner that accelerates attempts at its illegal annexation and the displacement of the Palestinian people. It reaffirms that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory. The Group warns against the continuation of Israel’s expansionist policies and illegal measures in the occupied West Bank, which contribute to fueling violence and conflict in the region. The Group stresses its absolute rejection of these illegal measures, which constitute a flagrant violation of international law and represent an assault on the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to the independence of their sovereign State on the lines of 4th of June 1967, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital, and which undermine the two-State solution and the ongoing efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region. The Group affirms that these illegal measures in the occupied West Bank are null and void and constitute a clear violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, in particular resolution 2334, which condemns all Israeli measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, character, and status of the occupied Palestinian territory since 1967, including East Jerusalem, as well as the advisory opinion issued in 2024 by the International Court of Justice, which concluded that Israel’s policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territory, and its continued presence therein, constitute a flagrant violation of international law, and affirmed the necessity of ending the unlawful Israeli occupation of the entirety of the occupied Palestinian territory and the nullity of the annexation of any part thereof. The Group renews its call upon the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, to compel Israel to halt its dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank, to reverse its unlawful policies and practices, and to cease the inciting statements of its officials. The Group also expresses its appreciation for the statement issued by the Secretary-General of the United Nations on 9th of February 2026 and commends its content regarding the Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank that undermine the two-State solution, the renewed affirmation of the illegality of settlements and of the Israeli presence in the occupied Palestinian territory, and the call to reverse these measures in pursuit of a lasting peace based on the two-State solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions. The Group stresses that the fulfillment of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and to the independence of their State in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, is the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.” Syrian Mission to the UN Ibrahim Olabi

UN CALLS FOR THE CRIMES OF M23 & KAGAME'S RDF TO BE RECOGNIZED AS GENOCIDE: "M23 together with Rwanda's RDF have committed grave crimes against humanity: Mass Murder, Torture, Rape, Sexual Slavery, Severe Deprivation of Freedom" declares United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights⤵️(translated from Daniel Michombero /Batubenga) War in the East of #RDC 🇨🇩: High Commissioner for Human Rights calls for recognition of genocide and urgent international action. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, urged on Wednesday, September 9, the Human Rights Council and international community to acknowledge the severity of the crimes committed in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and to take action to curb the deadly violence that has been tearing apart the east of the country for decades. “It is time for this Council and the international community to act to stop the violence, protect victims, and ensure justice,” declared Volker Türk, calling on member states to provide adequate support to the Commission of Inquiry tasked with documenting the crimes and laying the groundwork for justice. The statement comes in a context where reports from the United Nations and NGOs denounce massive human rights violations in the DRC. A report published in early September by the UN concluded that the M23 rebels, as well as the Congolese armed forces and other armed groups, could be responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Last July, the M23 was accused of massacring more than 300 civilians, including women and children, near Virunga National Park. These acts of violence add to a long list of atrocities recorded for years in eastern DRC, where civilians bear the heaviest toll of a conflict fueled by geopolitical and economic interests. The High Commissioner’s call is part of a movement aimed at recognizing the crimes committed in the DRC as genocide. For several Congolese and international actors, such recognition would: • strengthen international mobilization against the violence, • accelerate the implementation of judicial mechanisms, • and ensure reparations and remembrance for the victims, as already recommended by the United Nations Mapping Project published in 2010. In urging member states to support the Commission of Inquiry, Volker Türk emphasizes the need to break the cycle of impunity. “This is about laying the foundations for justice for the countless victims of the conflict in the DRC,” he insisted in Geneva. This plea places the international community face-to-face with its responsibilities: to translate words into actions through concrete support for investigations, the protection of civilian populations, and the establishment of a transitional justice framework. As the DRC continues to suffer large-scale violence, the question of recognizing the genocide could mark a historic turning point. However, its realization will depend on the political will of UN member states, often torn between diplomatic considerations and the imperatives of justice.

FBI Omaha hosted a press conference yesterday with our law enforcement partners announcing the arrest of five individuals involved in an alleged conspiracy to engage in labor trafficking, sex trafficking, and other criminal activity at several hotel locations and “brow and lash” salons across Nebraska. Eugune Kowel, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Omaha, stated, “Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery. This investigation revealed victims right here in the heart of the heartland forced into sexual activity, living and working in dangerous and filthy conditions, and extorted to work in grueling jobs with little to no pay. We will always stand shoulder to shoulder with our partners to aggressively identify and apprehend perpetrators of human trafficking, hold them accountable, and obtain justice for victims. Our approach to these horrific cases is always centered on the victims. We encourage anyone who may be a victim or have information about human trafficking to call us. We will continue to surge resources to arrest violent offenders in our community as part of the FBI’s Summer Heat Initiative.” Human trafficking cannot be combatted by one agency alone. FBI Omaha is grateful for the work of our partners on this large-scale investigation that included dedicated personnel from the Department of Homeland Security, the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, the Omaha Police Department, the Nebraska State Patrol, the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Branch, the United States Marshals Service, and the Nebraska State Attorney General’s Office. More details are available in the press release from the United States Attorney's Office, District of Nebraska

THE CONDUCT OF PROCEEDINGS IN THE CASE AGAINST HONOURABLE TUNDU A. LISSU IS THE LAW BEING DISREGARDED? The Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) raises its voice regarding the troubling conduct in the criminal case against Honourable Tundu Antipas Lissu — a lawyer, former Member of Parliament, and one of the nation’s prominent advocates for human rights, good governance, and constitutionalism. Since his arrest, there has been a disturbing pattern undermining the principles of justice, violating legal procedures, and casting a heavy shadow over our criminal justice system. This is evident in the following: His arrest was conducted without adherence to lawful procedures, signaling an abuse of power; The charges appear to be politically motivated, raising serious concerns about the use of judicial processes as tools for political ends; Denial of even the basic right to greet and meet with fellow citizens before the official hearing of the case; Repeated adjournments of the case on legally unsubstantial grounds, indicating a deviation from legal focus; Interference with or denial of the accused’s right to private consultations with his lawyers, which violates the right to equal legal representation; Indications of breaches of the attorney-client privilege, which is protected under the Constitution and legal framework, and is a cornerstone of the right to an effective legal defense. The right of a client to consult privately with their lawyer is a fundamental right protected by the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, the Evidence Act, and the Code of Ethics for Advocates. To restrict or interfere with this right is to undermine the foundation of the justice process and impair the accused’s ability to defend themselves adequately before the court. TLS emphasizes the following: The law must not be used as a weapon against justice; State authorities must not place themselves above the Constitution or the laws enacted by Parliament; The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) must reflect deeply on the significant constitutional powers he holds in criminal justice and whether there is sufficient accountability to protect citizens' rights and ensure adherence to the law at all times; The right to legal assistance is not a privilege — it is a right of every citizen. Any criminal case, especially those involving individuals with political or social stature, must be conducted with transparency, fairness, and with respect for human dignity. The Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) continues to closely monitor the progress of this case. We reiterate that justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done. We call upon the Judiciary and all state organs to uphold and protect the rights of the accused in accordance with the law and the Constitution. Furthermore, we urge all lawyers in the country, the media, and human rights stakeholders to continue championing the protection of justice, freedom of expression, and the rule of law — without fear or favour. ● I’ve attended today a simulated special operation exercise conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Unit, involving a raid to free hostages and arrest terrorist elements. The exercise demonstrated a high level of readiness, efficiency, and discipline, and confirmed the professionalism this elite force has achieved through advanced training and qualification programs. These programs were conducted with direct support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to whom we extend our sincere thanks and deep appreciation for their ongoing and genuine support in building the capabilities of Yemeni state institutions, particularly the security and military apparatus. ● Counterterrorism efforts must be managed exclusively through legitimate state institutions, within a clear legal and institutional framework that guarantees the rule of law, protects citizens' rights, and prevents a descent into chaos and the proliferation of power centers. Experience has proven that any security efforts carried out outside the authority of the state only complicate the situation, expand the scope of violations, and undermine opportunities for stability. The security lapses we have witnessed in some areas are a direct result of bypassing state institutions and operating outside their legitimate framework. ● The state affirms its unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms through an effective partnership and close coordination with the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and in cooperation with the international community. This commitment ensures respect for international humanitarian law, the protection of civilians, and the enhancement of security and stability at both the national and regional levels. ● The state is also committed to its national, regional, and international responsibilities in protecting international waterways and shipping lanes, which are vital arteries for global trade and regional security. This commitment is demonstrated through continuous cooperation with the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy and international partners, contributing to the preservation of maritime security, the protection of shared interests, and the deterrence of any threats to freedom of navigation and its security. ● Within the same context, the state will resolutely continue its joint efforts with the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy to combat arms smuggling to the Houthi terrorist militia and to cut off its sources of weapons. And its funding, given the direct threat this poses to national, regional, and international security, prolongs the conflict, and undermines peace prospects. ● The core of the Yemeni crisis remains the coup by the terrorist Houthi militia against the state and its legitimate institutions, and the resulting systematic destruction of the political, security, economic, and humanitarian situation. Therefore, restoring the state and ending the coup is a national priority that cannot be postponed. The state will continue to complete the liberation and restore its institutions, peacefully whenever possible, and by force when necessary, to preserve Yemen's sovereignty, security, stability, and unity of its national decision.

"Fleet Street did their best to ignore the story.” — in The Hack This line isn’t fiction. It’s a direct indictment of the real-world media culture that allowed industrial-scale criminality, phone hacking, surveillance, harassment, to thrive inside Britain’s most powerful newspapers. ITV’s The Hack dramatises one of the darkest chapters in UK media history: the systemic abuse of victims by national newspapers, and the total failure of the press to report on its own wrongdoing. Victims were not just ignored — they were smeared, intimidated, and silenced. Those who dared to speak out were met with denial, cover-ups, and more abuse. What makes this moment all the more damning? Even now, with the exception of The Guardian, The I and a few others, much of the national press is refusing to acknowledge the show. There has been a near-total blackout in coverage: no front pages, few in-depth reviews, little meaningful commentary, on a drama that reveals the criminal methods and moral rot at the heart of powerful media empires. Why? Because The Hack tells the truth. About illegal phone hacking. About the lies told to Parliament. About the deletion of evidence. About the way press executives perverted justice — and got away with it. The media won't hold itself accountable. It's up to all of us to demand truth, transparency, and justice — for the victims, and for the future of our democracy. #TheHack #DavidTennant #PhoneHacking #PressAbuse #MediaCorruption #Leveson #JusticeForVictims #Hackgate #HackedOff #PressReform #FleetStreetSilence
