It Is Time to Replace Rwanda’s Ambassador as Acting Dean of the Diplomatic Corps (see video⤵️) It is inconsistent and unacceptable that Rwanda’s Ambassador to the United States — representing a government whose entire military (the Rwanda Defense Force) has been sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury, and whose President serves as Commander-in-Chief of that sanctioned force — continues to hold the position of Acting Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Washington, D.C. and even receives standing ovations in that capacity. With the conclusion of the guard of honour, I bid farewell to my colleagues in uniform, comrades in arms forever. I just laid the wreath at the War Memorial for the last time in uniform, as a humble tribute to those who laid down their lives in the line of duty. I commend the current administration for this landmark achievement, which signifies a major step forward in enhancing connectivity, economic growth, and tourism development in Ekiti State. #WATCH | Bengaluru: On attending the banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu in honour of Russian President Putin, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor says, "The fact is that this is a courtesy we extend to visiting heads of state and government to have a banquet for them. The president made a very gracious speech, and President Putin, in turn, was very warm in his reply. A large number of Russian delegates were present, along with several senior Indian officials. I don't want to get into controversies. I certainly do feel that in a democracy like ours, the opposition leaders could have been there. It would have been a nice thing. I was there more in my capacity as the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, and I must say I had some interesting conversations..."
