IoT-Driven Water Management in Rural Tamil Nadu In Erode district, Tamil Nadu, an IoT-enabled smart water management system has been introduced to improve efficiency in rural water supply networks. Using sensors to monitor tank levels and automate pump operations, the system enables real-time management of overhead tanks and prevents overflow, ensuring more reliable water distribution. Deployed across 50 habitations in 16 villages, the solution has delivered a 40% reduction in electricity costs, 50% lower electricity consumption, and a 20% increase in water supply. In Ponmudi village alone, daily water availability increased by 44,180 litres. The initiative demonstrates how technology-led, institution-driven solutions can improve water efficiency, reduce operational costs, and strengthen sustainable rural infrastructure.
