IGP DISU ATTENDS UN CHIEFS OF POLICE SUMMIT, CALLS FOR STRONGER GLOBAL POLICE COOPERATION The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to strengthening international policing cooperation as a critical pathway to advancing global peace, security, and sustainable development. The IGP made the call while participating in the Fifth United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS 2026) held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 7th to 8th July 2026. The summit brought together Ministers, Inspectors-General of Police, Chiefs of Police, and senior representatives of regional and professional policing organisations from across the world to discuss strategies for strengthening international peace, security, and development through enhanced collaboration between national police services and United Nations policing. Addressing the summit, IGP Disu noted that modern criminal networks increasingly exploit artificial intelligence, encrypted communications, and cyber-enabled platforms to operate across borders with growing sophistication, thereby challenging traditional policing models. He emphasized that while technology presents significant opportunities for law enforcement through artificial intelligence, digital forensics, and geospatial intelligence, public trust remains the foundation of effective policing. According to the IGP, innovation must reinforce transparency, accountability, respect for human rights, and adherence to the rule of law. The IGP further advocated greater international cooperation, capacity building, and equitable access to digital policing capabilities for all member states, stressing that the benefits of technological advancement should not be limited to a few technologically advanced nations. Nigeria's participation at UNCOPS 2026 underscores the country's continued commitment to supporting global peacekeeping efforts, strengthening international law enforcement partnerships, and contributing to collective efforts aimed at combating transnational crime, terrorism, cybercrime, and other emerging security challenges. National Guard Captain Blows Up J6 Narrative, Accuses U.S. Govt of Lying to the American People "I'm here today to aid the subcommittee in resolving factual errors in the official record of what happened on January 6th, 2021, specifically regarding the alleged District of Columbia National Guard delayed response caused by a critical presidentially appointed, Senate-confirmed Pentagon senior officials," Captain Timothy Nick testified under oath on Capitol Hill on Wednesday. [...] "First, I want to explain my role on January 6th. I was assigned as aid to camp the personal assistant to Major General William Walker, the commanding General of DC National Guard. It was my only second day on the job (!). Please focus on alleged facts found in the November 16th, 2021 Department of Defense Inspector General's multidisciplinary review into the DC National Guard response and Department of Defense's role that day." "I can say unequivocally that the Inspector General's Review is riddled with inaccuracies, misstatements, and perhaps false flags and narratives regarding how critical Pentagon senior officials responded when our republic was under great stress (!!)." "For instance, during a conference call at 2:31 PM with members of United States Army, US Capitol Police, Metropolitan Police Department, District of Columbia Government, and US Secret Service Uniform Division, the US Army's Lieutenant General Walter Piatt, Director of Army staff and the Army's Lieutenant General Charles Flynn, Director of Chief of Staff of Operations were on the call." Also was Colonel John Lubas, executive officer to the Secretary of the Army." "The Army FALSELEY DENIED that General Flynn was ever on the call. This is false and material on its face. Lieutenant Flynn was on the call and even participated in discussions. The defense inspector's review also rounds language papering over the fact that Lieutenant General Piatt, Lieutenant General Flynn, while on the call discussed how they did not like the OPTICS." "That is a direct quote, and they stated it would be in their best military advice to recommend to the Secretary of the Army, Ryan McCarthy, to deny the request from Command General William Walker to deploy the DC National Guard and aid US Capitol Police in restoring restoration of Order Liberty on Capitol Hill." "In addition, former [Army] Secretary Ryan McCarthy claims he was on a two three 1:00 PM call and spoke on that call. This is FALSE, unless he was in the room shadowing the call and he did not speak nor identify himself." "He was not on the call. He was en route to Washington, DC Regional office at the Federal Bureau of Investigation to support that agent's concept of operations plan for January 6th." "He went on the claim that he called and spoke to Major General Walker at least twice, ordering the deployment of the DC National Guard. This is also FALSE. At no time did General Walker take any calls, nor did we ever hear from the secretary on any of the ongoing conference calls or the secure video teleconferencing throughout the day." "This I know because I was with the Command General the entire time recording events throughout the day. Major General Walker told by staff officers to stand by with respect to deploying to the Capitol Hill. Only at 5:09 PM in the early evening, which I wrote down in my wheel book, was the DC Guard given an order to deploy and move to the Capitol to assist Capitol Police." "We arrived too late. One American laid dead with other sisters and brothers injured, including federal and local law enforcement officers. We were ready and standing by. I know if we were able to deploy immediately, when General Walker made the request, the National Guard could have helped and civil disturbance and restored public order quickly." "The Army National Guard motto was always ready, always there. The DC National Guard was ready to help and assist Capitol Police, but we were NOT ALLOWED to do our job due to paralyzed decision-making by acting Secretary of Defense,Chris Miller and Secretary of the Army, Ryan McCarthy..." "This led to a crisis in federal leadership at the Pentagon and delayed the DC response by 3 hours and 19 minutes." This is critical testimony exposing the U.S. government as perpetrating a false narrative of events for January 6 to frame Donald Trump as participating in a treasonous "insurrection" when the opposite was true. The President of the United States had pre-authorized the deployment of 10,000 National Guard troops and delegated this responsibility to the Secretary of the Army. But instead of deploying National Guard troops to secure the capitol during the election challenges in the Electoral College, the Pentagon delayed dispatching troops over an alleged concern for "optics," even as the same government would later call January 6 'an existential threat to democracy.' The U.S. government allowed the January 6 riots to happen in order to frame Donald Trump and his supporters as 'insurrectionists.' It is simple as that.

To the Inspector General of Police TUNJI DISU and the entire leadership of the Nigerian Police Force Nigeria Police Force, This is a formal call for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the individual known as VeryDarkMan for his blatant assault on the integrity of the Force and the office of the newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police, Margaret Ochalla. In a widely circulated video, this individual has crossed every line of decency and legality by attempting to intimidate a high ranking officer of the law through baseless allegations of blackmail and corruption. It is an affront to the Nigerian state that a private citizen would feel empowered to address a DIG with such condescension, calling her “Mama” while simultaneously issuing veiled threats that she will “learn the hard way” if she does not abandon her constitutional duties. This behaviour constitutes a direct attempt to obstruct the course of justice and undermine the authority of the Force Criminal Investigation Department. VeryDarkMan claims his social media platform is superior to the law and uses it as a weapon to bully public officials who are tasked with maintaining order and investigating crimes. Allowing such public harassment to go unpunished sets a dangerous precedent where influencers believe they can dictate the direction of police investigations through digital mob action and character assassination. His statement that the path the DIG is taking is a burning one is a clear attempt to incite fear and prevent a public officer from carrying out her lawful mandate. The Nigerian Police Force must act decisively to protect its officers from this brand of cyber intimidation and verbal assault. We cannot have a society where the rule of law is replaced by the whims of a social media personality who believes he is above the statutes of the land. This individual should be taken into custody immediately to answer for these defamatory statements and his attempts to interfere with active legal proceedings. Justice must be served, and the dignity of the Nigerian Police Force must be upheld against those who seek to drag its leadership into disrepute for the sake of online engagement. Condemning these actions is not enough; there must be firm legal consequences to ensure that the office of the DIG and the entire police structure remain respected and free from intimidation. Arresting VeryDarkMan will serve as a deterrent to others who believe that a large following gives them the right to threaten the custodians of our national security.

SEVEN TEENAGE GIRLS ARRESTED FOR BULLYING The seven were traced by police and arrested following their participation in an alleged act of bullying where a 14-year-old girl was a victim. Four learners from Bedfordview High School, one from Queens High School, one from Kensington High School and the last one from Phoenix College in Johannesburg. All seven female pupils were arrested and placed into the care of their parents in line with the Child Justice Act. They all appeared today before the JHB Magistrates Court and are expected to appear again on a charge of common assault on Wednesday, 21 May 2025. General Fannie Masemola takes this opportunity to warn young people that bullying is a criminal conduct and is punishable by law. “Bullying has dire repercussions. Once you get involved in acts such as bullying you can be charged for assault GBH, common assault, crimen injuria and a host of other crimes. Being formally charged means you get to have a criminal record under your name which has negative implications on your future. The police will not hesitate to act against those who involve themselves in such acts. Those who get involved in such acts will be traced and made to answer before a court of law for crimes committed. Young people must refrain from getting involved in such acts. We have heard in some instances that some children took their lives as a result of acts of bullying. Bystanders are also warned not to entertain and encourage such acts as they may become accomplices to these crimes”, said Gen Fannie Masemola. Through its School Safety MOU with the Department of Basic Education (DBE), the SAPS visits various schools across the country to create awareness on dangers and consequences of bullying and gangsterism. During these talks, raids are conducted for sharp objects, drugs and illegal weapons and substances. We therefore urge all people living in South Africa to stand together against bullying in order to create safer spaces for young people. This latest incident is amongst a number incidents of bullying that the SAPS has attended to in weeks. In Letlhabile near Brits, police in North West also arrested a 16 year old boy who was placed in the care of his parents last week. The matter is still under investigation where the police are investigating 20 other children for their alleged involvement in this matter. The National Commissioner of SAPS, General Fannie Masemola calls on parents, guardians, community leaders and young people to work together with the police to instil discipline, respect and accountability amongst young people to prevent and combat incidents of bullying. General Masemola also calls on police officers to act swiftly to investigate such incidents when they are reported to ensure perpetrators are brought to book. School learners, bystanders and those with knowledge of such incidents are also urged to report such crimes immediately and not wait until videos go viral.

NIGERIA UPDATE: El-Rufai’s response to the statements by the National Security Adviser and the Kaduna State Government alleging the ‘Politicization of National Security’. - Part 3 of 3 As Governor of Kaduna State for eight years, we worked with two Ministers of Defence, one National Security Adviser, two Chiefs of Defence Staff, three Chiefs of Army Staff, two Chiefs of Naval Staff, two Chiefs of Air Staff, two Chiefs of Defence Intelligence, four Inspectors-General of Police, and three Directors-General of the State Security Service (DSS). This is aside from several General Officers Commanding, Air Officers Commanding, Commissioners of Police, State Directors of Security, and military commanders at state levels. Our appreciation for the sacrifices made and still being made by our military and security officers is deep. That is why we speak out about those saddled with immense responsibility two years ago who seem to view security management as a persistent exercise in propaganda and make-belief, and as cover for diverting public funds and abusing power with impunity. Neither the ONSA nor the Kaduna State Government can stop the exercise of constitutional rights to associate with others, have meetings, express opinions and alternatives to the fictitious narrative of officialdom. They are advised to concentrate their efforts on solving security issues, rather than seeing in the misery of affected citizens opportunities to claim false glories and divert and squander funds. Insecurity is the menace they ought to eliminate, not opposition voices and platforms. The repeated haranguing by the KDSG of some of its own officials and some security agencies for not disrupting visits and meetings in Kaduna by certain prominent persons is well-known. The thuggery unleashed against the ADC meeting of Saturday, 30 August 2025 shows that those harangued government officials and some officers of security agencies have succumbed to blandishments to sponsor and enable violence against those that legitimately oppose their government. Why is this not attracting the attention of the ONSA as a major security issue? Is it until it leads to anarchy due to total politicization of policing in the state?. National security is a very serious matter, critical to the peace and prosperity of the country, and the safety and wellbeing of citizens. It is unpatriotic to disguise incompetence in understanding it, much less managing it, as media stunts. In managing difficult circumstances, I recommend a new message to ONSA and its sidekick in Kaduna and elsewhere, the admonition by an African patriot of old: “tell no lies, claim no easy victories.” Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai Abuja, Nigeria 1st September, 2025

#sapsHQ The National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola has stated that #IlegalMining in Bapong will not be allowed to continue, as the lives and livelihoods of our communities are at risk. General Masemola received a full briefing from the NATJOINTS on possible intervention measures that can be immediately implemented. The National Commissioner stated that immediate intervention measures will be implemented such as: ▶ we are enhancing and heightening our crime combating operations to deal decisively with these illegal mining activities… ▶we are deploying more police officers on the ground such as crime intelligence officers, members of the hawks, detectives and tactical units to prevent and combat these illegal mining activities. ▶ We have also established an integrated and multidisciplinary intervention team within the PROVJOINTS AND NATJOINTS to ensure implementation and enforcement of our country’s laws. What is currently happening here, is illegal and detrimental to the environment, including water sources and most importantly, poses a health and imminent safety risk for our communities. This is theft of minerals which belongs to all South Africans and which legally done can contribute to economic growth, community development and decent jobs in the area. It’s important to highlight that only the DMPR can legally issue a permit or license for any mining activity. So anyone who is not in possession of a permit from the DMRE to mine, is committing a crime. ▶This intervention team will include officials from various departments led by SAPS inclusive of the Department of minerals and petroleum resources, department of water and sanitation, the department of forestry fisheries and the environment, the department of home affairs, the department of justice and constitutional development and others. This team has already hit the ground running and will continue to work to stabilise and normalise this area through all possible means to stop these illegal activities. ▶Daily operations will be monitored on a weekly basis while we intensify and sharpen our long term plans to ensure a lasting solution to these illegal acts. ▶Daily operations will include compliance inspections and disruptive operations together with DMPRE at identified sites for illegal mining activities… ▶ We are continuing with our disruptive operations and where necessary we will continue to effect the necessary arrests and conduct search and seizure operations of tools and resources that are being used to conduct these illegal mining activities. ▶we remain committed to working closely with our communities and key stakeholders to put a stop to these illegal and dangerous activities… ▶I will be receiving a weekly report on progress made in dealing decisively with this challenge… ▶ and we will find anyone who is behind these illegal operations and they will answer to crimes committed ▶we urge our communities to cooperate fully with our law enforcement officers and to refuse to be used by these criminal elements.
