To the Muslim brothers of the region and our dear ones in the land of Palestine, especially patient Gaza : Today, from the Islamic Republic of Iran, we speak to you with sincere words from the heart; words of loyalty, affection, and brotherhood. The Islamic Ummah and the Palestinian nation have always been alive in the conscience of the people of Islamic Iran, and their name, from the very first days of the victory of the revolution, has been like a flag for a right that never falls and for a nation that no matter how heavy the hardships are, cannot be worn down, and no matter how severe the events, its will is not broken, has been imprinted in our awareness. We tell you that today we are not fighting only to defend ourselves, nor just to avenge our own martyrs, but to defend the oppression of the Islamic Ummah and the Palestinian nation and its martyrs who have a firm and deep-rooted share in this stance. In the immediate aftermath of 5th August, 2024, a date that will be remembered as the day one of the most reviled authoritarian figures in Bangladesh's history fled the country, I extended my congratulations to the courageous people whose unwavering resolve made this moment possible. At the time, I remarked that a victory is made truly noble when even the defeated can find safety and dignity in its wake. Today, I reiterate that message, urging all democracy-loving citizens of Bangladesh to uphold the principles of justice and restraint. Let no one take the law into their own hands. Let us not glorify mob violence. Let there be no acts of aggression against women. Let us honor one another’s freedoms and dignity. The Bangladesh we strive to build is the one seen through a mother’s eyes, where every citizen, regardless of political affiliation, faith, background, or belief, lives in safety and peace. We envision a nation where believers and non-believers, skeptics and the devout, all coexist under the same promise of security and equality. Let every 5th August henceforth stand as a solemn pledge to the cause of democracy, good governance, and our collective humanity. It uses its influence, its money, and the network of loyal agents it has planted in the region to block local authorities from placing any regulations or taxes on these resources. This leaves all mining and export activities completely outside oversight and gives the UAE full freedom to extract and smuggle minerals without accountability. The mining itself is done by ordinary Somali businessmen who finance everything on their own and who maintain strong ties with the UAE, which supports them by bringing in mining experts from Sudan, Iran, and other countries to assist these small operators and tighten its control over the sector. The Puntland government does not stop them, and the UAE ensures it becomes the only party dealing with these miners by buying the minerals at prices far below their real value. This turns the entire sector into a one sided arrangement that benefits the UAE with the full cooperation of the regional leadership. When the time comes to move the gold out of the country, the operation goes through both Bosaso and Berbera airports. The UAE often uses regular flights like Daallo, and it is widely believed that Air Arabia flights, launched by the UAE in January between Bosaso and the Emirates, are used for the same purpose. These flights transport the minerals out while avoiding any meaningful scrutiny. The Puntland and Somaliland authorities are not allowed to inspect these packages due to direct pressure from the UAE, which keeps a tight grip on both administrations to make sure no one interferes with its operations. It is also worth noting that the Emirati ambassador himself reportedly makes two trips a week to oversee and follow up on these activities, underscoring how closely Abu Dhabi manages and protects this operation.
