It’s the 14th anniversary of The Social Network (Quentin Tarantino calls it best film of the 2010s). She spent four years fighting through every court in Michigan just to get her day in court. She still does not have the money. – Jacqueline Davis deposited $50 into her BetMGM account on March 18 2021 and started playing a game called Luck O' the Roulette. – Her first bet was $4.50. She lost it. – She kept playing and over the next six days the Michigan Supreme Court later described what happened as "a heater of epic magnitude." – As her winnings grew she pressed her bets higher. – By March 23 she was wagering $5,000 per spin. – Her account balance reached $3,289,500.75. – She requested a $100,000 withdrawal. – BetMGM approved it by email. A VIP host called to discuss transferring such a large amount off the platform. They congratulated her on her winnings. – The next day her account was suspended for unusual activity. – BetMGM's investigation found a software malfunction had started on her 28th play. – Win amounts were being multiplied when transferred from the game screen to her wallet. – They said her account should have read zero by play 368. They removed the game from Michigan entirely. – Davis sued for fraud and breach of contract. – The Wayne Circuit Court dismissed her case. – The Court of Appeals upheld the dismissal. The best offenses don’t run plays. They hunt advantages. That’s the lens the Illinois Fighting Illini men’s basketball uses every game. The first question isn’t what do we run? It’s what’s our biggest strength and where is their biggest weakness? Everything flows from there. Illinois talks constantly about creating, attacking, and maintaining advantages. One action into the next. Spacing as a weapon. Letting individual skill shine when there’s a switch, and flowing right back into team advantage if the defense stays home. Shot selection is the backbone of it all. They simplify it: gold (layups), silver (threes), bronze (midrange) shots. And then they practice different constraints so players feel it. For example: No-dribble possessions. Scores only off cuts. Offense made intentionally hard. Why? Because constraints teach players how many ways a possession can still produce a gold-medal shot. Early in the season, they were playing fast, but the shot quality wasn’t good enough. So they adjusted. Now they’re one of the slowest teams in the Big Ten. Not because slow is better. Because it fits their strengths. The result? ~50% of shots from three ~43% at the rim ~7% midrange (mostly late clock) That’s not accident. That’s alignment. Honkai Star Rail issue TLDR; no real improvements towards the gameplay/TRPG depth itself while continuing to make changes that don't matter 'in the now'. More context; As of the last few patches it's felt like HSR has made 1 step forward & 3 back (Ex. Wishful Resin availability vs impact of the item). With a turn based RPG, I expect more actions to be taken that encourage strategic gameplay, combat/gear choices, or otherwise game defining matters that give the player more satisfaction (of their wins, accomplishments, goal challenges, etc.) in the game. Great examples of this are FF Tactics, Valkyria Chronicles, Octopath Traveler, & any Shin Megami Tensei or Fire Emblem game. I don't have any definite backing behind this, just my own assumptions & experiences, but it feels like HSR has become more greedy than their usual gacha self. A game (that presents itself) based around team structure, archetypes, & decision making has shown a severe lack of these since shortly after Superbreak's introduction. The lack of STRONG 4-stars has left many of our viable "teams" lingering on a "play this or bust" situation. Of course, having at least 80% of the limited 5-stars removes this entirely, but that introduces an entirely different subject that still favors my argument in the lack of team variety we have. Ex. The counter-archetype team. There's little to no difference between THE optimal team if you use Yunli or Clara, despite the two of them playing differently w/ different build opportunities. You won't swap support units because they offer a new 'thing' to benefit Yunli/Clara. You will swap units because you don't have the premier one or you don't have the other premier one (i.e Sunday vs Sparkle selection). The enemy design has been decent, with some bosses having amazing potential, but that effort is quickly made irrelevant due to the HP inflation or lack of preventative measures the avg player can take against them (i.e not having shields, cleanse, enhanced breaking, AV control, etc.) By no means is that me alluding to every player deserves every limited thing, but it is me saying there's 0 reason the last 4-star we got was on Sept 9th, and per the drip marketing received, we aren't getting a new one any time soon. On stream, I spoke about how impactful a row system (Persona 1, Unicorn Overlord, Torna DLC for Xenoblade 2, etc.) would be to the strategy behind the game IF they prioritized combat depth instead of selling only selling limited characters. HSR has the potential to really put their foot in the combat strategy and team building of the game, but I don't understand the reason they refuse to do it when they have the means to. This brings me to the greed I believe HSR has displayed lately. There are multiple pts I want to address on this matter, but this tweet is too long & I wanna go play Metaphor so I'll try to emphasize this point a lot stronger. Keep in mind, these items are conceptually of top 3 importance in the game (value wise). * There is 0 reason the bundle of Wishful Resin should cost $35-50 worth of stellar jade bundles instead of a flat price. They are purposely inflating your purchase on an item that, in my opinion, is insanely valuable for every player. * Trading 800 relic remains or Self Modeling Resin for 1 Wishful Resin is a scam. 800 RR = 80 trash relics or 2 +15 relics. Both of which, require you to invest a LOT of resources into in order to obtain them in the first place. * 2 sub-stats should not cost 4 Wishful Resin if 1 sub-stat only cost 1 Wishful Resin. * Receiving ONE WISHFUL RESIN FOR FREE per 40ish days, is INSANE. lol Receiving TWO IF YOU PAY per 40ish days is even more ludicrous. In the event you decided to buy all the Wishful bundles per 40 days & only choose the WR as your option, that's $120 (70 + 50) for 22 WR. Adding the BP into that is now just shy of paying for a limited character. Don't even get me started on how the only available dice in the game is paid for while still having a 75% chance to screw you over in RNG, either. I understand this looks like a giga rant, & it is. It pisses me off watching a game you avidly enjoy make decisions that, I can only assume, are out of pure greed. They could do so much to spin this game into an easy top 5 position with little to similar effort in pushing out stronger characters per $300. Hence, my feeling of being burnt out & even that took me months to understand/realize.

$One of the most tedious (but critical tasks) for software development teams is updating foundational software. It’s not new feature work, and it doesn’t feel like you’re moving the experience forward. As a result, this work is either dreaded or put off for more exciting work—or both. Amazon Q, our GenAI assistant for software development, is trying to bring some light to this heaviness. We have a new code transformation capability, and here’s what we found when we integrated it into our internal systems and applied it to our needed Java upgrades: - The average time to upgrade an application to Java 17 plummeted from what’s typically 50 developer-days to just a few hours. We estimate this has saved us the equivalent of 4,500 developer-years of work (yes, that number is crazy but, real). - In under six months, we've been able to upgrade more than 50% of our production Java systems to modernized Java versions at a fraction of the usual time and effort. And, our developers shipped 79% of the auto-generated code reviews without any additional changes. - The benefits go beyond how much effort we’ve saved developers. The upgrades have enhanced security and reduced infrastructure costs, providing an estimated $260M in annualized efficiency gains. This is a great example of how large-scale enterprises can gain significant efficiencies in foundational software hygiene work by leveraging Amazon Q. It’s been a game changer for us, and not only do our Amazon teams plan to use this transformation capability more, but our Q team plans to add more transformations for developers to leverage.$

Why is a St. Catharines Tim Hortons proudly displaying a legal threat letter sent to Rebel News? We were tipped off that a Tim Hortons location in St. Catharines, Ont., had posted the legal threat letter that was sent to us on June 1. So, we paid them a visit with our big, beautiful billboard truck in tow. You may recall our recent reports regarding Tim Hortons, exposing the company for lying through its teeth at a recent presser. Tim Hortons implied they would go back to hiring Canadian citizens, which would be great news if only it were true. Alas, Tims is still making use of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program! If you check out the federal government’s job board, Tims currently has about 90 positions available under this program. Sure, Tim Hortons loves selling to Canadians. But hiring Canadians? Not so much. Tims was not amused by our coverage. And so, they decided to play hardball. The company was so infuriated that they sent Rebel News a legal letter. We were informed that Rebel News staffers are essentially persona non grata at all Canadian Tim Hortons. Yours truly was especially singled out, as Tims' legal eagle noted that I am now banned for life from going to any Tim Hortons store in Canada! We’re not making this up! Here’s an excerpt from that letter: "David Menzies, due to past behaviour, is not, for any reason, permitted access to the premises, including parking lots, landscaped areas, and drive-thrus of any Tim Hortons restaurant in Canada, any and all manufacturing and distribution facilities owned or operated by TDL across Canada and the Tim Hortons offices in Montreal, Calgary and Toronto." Overreaction much? But here’s the thing: We were tipped off that a Tim Hortons location in St. Catharines, Ont., was proudly displaying the legal threat letter that was sent to us on June 1. How bizarre! Why would they do that? Is it to further a vendetta in a most juvenile fashion? Apparently, head office sent a copy of that letter to all stores. It seems that it is up to the franchisee whether to display it. But again, what’s the ostensible policy reason? To name and shame us? To put customers on high alert so that, if they see me in the parking lot or drive-thru, they will call 9-1-1? How pathetic can you get? Well, if Tim Hortons is dropping the gloves, then so be it. Tim's legacy lives on in the restaurant chain that bears his name. Yet, we wonder: Would he be proud of what it has become? The donuts are no longer baked from scratch. The restaurants are not clean — don’t even dare venture into the washrooms. Canadian citizens are passed over for jobs in favour of noncitizens. And now the corporate bigwigs are banning independent journalists who have the temerity to report the truth. Netflix just KILLED Hollywood... By pulling off the most INSANE power move of 2025. $82.7 billion for Warner Bros, HBO, and HBO Max. The streaming wars are officially over. But nobody understands what actually just happened... For YEARS, Ted Sarandos said: "We're builders, not buyers. We don't need a library." Then three weeks ago he pulled a complete 180. And the bidding war was brutal. Paramount thought they had it locked. David Ellison's dad is Larry Ellison, Oracle founder, one of the richest men alive. Paramount made THREE bids in September. All rejected. Too low. But Ellison kept pushing. He wanted the ENTIRE company including CNN, Discovery Channel, all the cable networks nobody else wanted. His pitch was simple: "We have White House relationships. Regulatory approval will be easy." For weeks, everyone thought Paramount would win. Then Netflix entered the chat... $27.75 per share. Mix of cash and stock. $82.7 billion total. Paramount countered with $30 per share, all cash, backed by three Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds. Higher bid. More cash. Should've won. But Netflix included something nobody saw coming: A $5.8 BILLION breakup fee. If Netflix walks away from this deal, they pay Warner Bros $5.8B. Nobody puts up breakup fees that big. Ever. It's Netflix saying "we're so confident we can fight regulators and win, we'll bet $5.8B on it." Paramount lost their minds. Thursday morning, Paramount's lawyers sent a 4,000-word letter to Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav. The letter accused Warner Bros of rigging the process. Said Zaslav had "personal interests in post-transaction roles." Translation: Zaslav wants a job at Netflix after the deal closes, so he's giving them preferential treatment. They're literally calling it corruption. But Netflix just sat on that $5.8B breakup fee and waited. In the end, Warner Bros picked Netflix. And here's the thing... This isn't about streaming. It's about OWNING the IP before AI makes production costs zero. Warner Bros owns: - Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman (entire DC Universe) - Harry Potter (full franchise rights) - Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, The Wire - Friends, The Big Bang Theory When AI video generation hits in 2-3 years, Netflix bets on "whoever owns the IP wins." They hope to generate infinite Batman movies and Harry Potter spinoffs using AI at near-zero marginal cost. The genius move though: Paramount wanted ALL of Warner Bros Discovery. Biological males dominate women's college volleyball game in Ontario South of the border, thanks to U.S. President Donald Trump taking office again, the war on wokeism has begun in earnest. Diversity, equity, and inclusion programs are being jettisoned at government departments and the military in favour of a meritocracy. Meanwhile, President Trump has declared that there are only two genders. Shockers! Such common sense statements make for a breath of fresh air. Case in point, last Wednesday, the Toronto-based Centennial Colts visited Algonquin College in Barrie, Ont., to take on the Grizzlies in female varsity volleyball. Well, not entirely female. You see, the Colts still have a couple of players on the roster who are men that “identify” as women. That would be #13, Jaque Ronquillo, and #16, C.L. Viloria. Indeed, it was déjà vu all over for us. That’s because last year we took in a series of games between the Colts and the Seneca Sting. The Sting boasted three men on its roster. That’s right, there was a total of FIVE men on the court that night who were pretending to be women! For those keeping score at home, Seneca won the series. The Colts were literally outmanned on this night… But in Barrie, it was the Colts who swept the Grizzlies on this night. Alas, all of Algonquin’s players are female. They didn’t have a chance, and so it was that the Grizzlies further fell in the overall standings with a record of two wins and 15 losses. The games were hard to watch at times. Centennial’s Ronquillo and Viloria were clearly the dominant players on the court – especially when it came to spiking the ball. If anything, it made for a textbook lesson in Biology 101. Still, cheating is one thing. But the inclusion of men is also a safety issue. Viloria has reportedly attacked the ball with such heavy force that in previous games female opponents have endured concussions. But hey… diversity. It’s disgraceful. But when it comes to the woke Ontario College Athletic Association, the OCAA is perfectly fine with men who identify as women. It’s a celebration of inclusiveness or something … even though women’s sports are being destroyed in front of our eyes. After the match, Rebel News wanted to interview the gender-bender grifters as well as the real female players. But get this: we were continually harassed and our cameras were blocked. And this was being done by Georgian College staffers! Apparently, they too think that radical transgenderism is a good thing – even when their own female athletes are getting slaughtered on the court! Predictably, for the crime of asking insensitive questions, we were frog-marched off the premises by security guards. The free press was censored as Ronquillo and Viloria showered in the female changeroom! Maybe we should’ve called the cops regarding this perversion on campus? But really, in Justin Trudeau’s Canada, what’s the point? It's all so sad, really. The motto of the Algonquin Grizzlies is “Own the den.” But on this night, the den was surrendered to male invaders. And speaking of bruins, just where the hell is Mama and Papa Bear? Why are the parents sitting in the stands and casually watching such a grotesque spectacle? Why are they perfectly ok with seeing their daughters brutalized in such a fashion? In the final analysis, this transanity garbage ends tomorrow if the female players en masse refuse to play. But for some reason, they refuse to reclaim their sport. Why? Are they so indoctrinated that they actually subscribe to the falsehood that “transwomen are real women”? Are they afraid of being labeled as “transphobes”? It’s baffling. Rebel News will continue to expose transanity on the courts, in the playing fields, and in the swimming pools.
