There are many reasons why I love the arcade opening for BLAZBLUE CONTINUUM SHIFT II, but one of the biggest is how brilliantly it condenses the story of BLAZBLUE CONTINUUM SHIFT and the relationships and conflicts between its characters into the animation. Rather than simply introducing the characters, it depicts important moments from the story one after another, such as Ragna’s battle with Yuuki Terumi and the intense conflict between Jin and Tsubaki. It almost feels like the opening is reconstructing the story of CONTINUUM SHIFT as a short animated work. I really love how the visuals don't merely accompany the music, but actually seem to tell a story of their own. What I especially love is how well the visuals synchronize with “Shinsō,” performed by Asami Imai. The animation changes in accordance with the rhythm, lyrics, and emotional build-up of the song, so the editing never feels random or abrupt. The scene around 0:46 is probably my favorite moment in the entire opening. Noel’s transformation into μ-No.12 (Mu-12), the “Sword of the Godslayer,” is presented with an incredible amount of dramatic intensity. What makes that transition so amazing is that it isn't portrayed as merely a change in character design. The direction makes it feel as though Noel's sense of self is beginning to collapse, allowing the existence that had been dormant within her to emerge. It feels like the animation itself is expressing Noel's transformation into μ-No.12 as she is consumed by despair. On top of that, the moment of her transformation perfectly coincides with the song's emotional climax and Asami Imai's vocals, which genuinely gives me chills. The visuals, direction, music, and vocals all seem to reach their peak at exactly the same moment.

Honestly the Portable version of BB CS's Opening goes So hard for no reason. And that's why it's my favorite in the series.
