Sometimes I think people must be sick of hearing my story or my music haha, but I remind myself - we have to show up for ourselves. If my journey inspires or encourages you, that’s so incredible. My mother died yesterday. Was told this morning that she passed in her sleep and the notion of loss has been tugging at my sleeve throughout the day. The sense that, maybe, I should be panicking, perhaps I should be tremulous and inconsolable. I don't know what I feel. A bit sad, a bit lonely. It's complex when the relationship with your parent is not Disney. Compounded by the sleekit suggestion that I should be feeling more. The older I get, the more I have an awareness about just letting the feelings come, letting the feelings go. So much guilt wrapped up in how one thinks one should be feeling. Then there's the worrying that other people are worried for you, how will I take it? How will I cope? As a man whose younger life was spent trying to escape my feelings in drink and other things, it's natural for people that love me to worry. What I feel is Grace. I feel held and steadfast. I feel grateful that, after a long period estrangement, I brought her granddaughters to see her over the last wee while. Photos and messages and updates on how the lassies are thriving. I feel grateful (and I know it's an awful cliche) that for her there is no more suffering. That is what I'm feeling. Anyway, despite this and that, what I'm sure of is that she gave me one thing that has carried me through my life and that is a love of music. Thank you, mother. I wrote her this song. It's funny how songs can be prophesy.

Why I Stopped Going to Church And No, It's Not Because I Hate God. → Church stopped feeling like a place of worship... it started feeling like a business center. Every Sunday: "Sow this... give that... seed for breakthrough... seed for protection... seed for long life!" If you don't wear new cloth, new wig, or carry latest bag, they look at you like you need deliverance. Even ushers will scan your whole body before saying "you're welcome. → People now worship "Daddy and Mummy in the Lord" more than God. Their pastors' words carry more weight than the Bible. It's spiritual celebrity culture. → Too many pastors preaching what they don't practice. They shout "stop fornication!" But they're privately doing counseling sessions at 11pm. → The church turned into gossip headquarters. Before you even finish giving testimony,somebody at the back has already said: "Na lie she dey talk." or "I know her ex oh." → The judgment is too much. You can't dress a certain way You can't ask questions You can't disagree. The moment you speak your mind, they tag you "rebellious" "worldly," or "possessed." → Their prophecies revolve around four things: death, madness, your partner is not the right one for you and enemies. Nothing uplifting... always fear. → Their message of "submission" feels more like bondage that's why so many Christian women are suffering in silence. → They shout about holiness, but when it comes to helping the needy or giving job opportunities, they suddenly go mute. → Church became a celebrity show.Everyone wants to be seen. Nobody wants to be changed. Ring light inside church. Photoshoot after service. Is this worship or content creation? → Some churches love drama more than Nollywood. Fake prophecies everywhere Actress fainting up and down. People shouting "Holy Ghost fire!" like it's a national anthem. → They made Christianity harder than God made it. Rules upon rules. Fear upon fear. Do this or God will punish you. Don't do that or God will reject you. Meanwhile, the Bible they shout is the same Bible they don't follow. → I didn't leave God. I left the noise. Because I realized I can still pray, love God, read my Bible, grow spiritually, and have peace without the confusion, manipulation, and competition inside some churches. Where is the lie? This father had never missed any of his son’s baseball games in his life. He had to miss this tournament because his best friend was getting married and he was a groomsman. He woke up at 3:30AM and drove 100 MPH that Sunday morning to try to and at least make the Sunday games after missing the Saturdays games. And, of course this was the only tournament all year that his son’s team lost their first game on Sunday, so he didn't make it in time because the first game was at 8 and there was no second game. When he pulled up his son saw him and he ran full speed and jumped into his arms and wouldn’t let go. Dad said his son told him, “daddy, you can’t ever miss again. I love you so much. Not having you with me this weekend made me feel so empty, please never miss again, I'm so thankful your my daddy!” 🥹 His wife filmed that video. ❤️ I remember those days well. Speeding like a bat out of hell to make it on time. I have always made my kid’s games and activities. It’s what I live for. And the few times I had to miss, I felt like I let them down. What a great father he is. That boy is fortunate. 💯 Do you remember this feeling? Trying your hardest to make it to one of their activities and just feeling sad that you couldn’t be there?

But lately, it feels like it’s not okay with you. Since you left BNK, many Moonstrings have felt hurt. When the JL admin asked us to behave and not flood your live streams, we respected that. When the MOA Globe event happened, we heard you were there but couldn’t show up for safety reasons. We understood. You posted a general thank you message to all your ships, and again, we understood, you wanted to keep things equal. But then things shifted. After PBB, it stopped feeling equal. Fan service happened with other ships, but not with Jarlette. The Jarlette DC, a dance edited with love and perseverance, was never acknowledged. We thought, maybe it’s management holding you back, insisting on balance. Days passed, and we felt our support, love, and efforts were being ignored. No recognition, no acknowledgment. Jarren, why? Are we invisible? We felt disrespected and neglected, yet we continued to support you through nominations and fan projects and going out to your shows. We’ve been loud and proud in our support, and all we’ve ever asked for is a little acknowledgment. We’ve been with you since day one, never wavering. I found God on 300mg of DMT at DreamMind. . . At the core of a human being is a divine spark of light. Some call it their spirit or their soul. You realize that death of your physical body is just a transition of your soul from the 3rd dimensional plane of existence to a higher realm. Once you realize that your soul never dies, you lose that “fear of death” so to speak.
