The world has waited long enough. Somaliland must be recognized as an independent nation now - not next year, not after more diplomatic delays. Every day that passes gives more power to authoritarian regimes looking to control one of the most important regions on Earth. Letโ€™s be clear: Somalia is a failed state. Its government doesnโ€™t fight terrorism effectively, canโ€™t protect its own people, and has a terrible human rights record. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has shown again and again that he is not a leader, but a threat to stability. Despite this, the international community continues to act as if Somalia is in control - when it clearly is not. In contrast, Somaliland is functioning like a real country. It holds free elections, keeps order, and runs its institutions - all without help from the global powers. Its people have built a working democracy, and yet they are ignored by the West. Now Somalia is making false claims over Somalilandโ€™s key infrastructure - like Berbera Port and Berbera Airport โ€” trying to take control of what doesnโ€™t belong to them. This is nothing more than a power grab, using the same bullying tactics we see from Putin. Somalia wants to crush Somalilandโ€™s independence, even though it canโ€™t manage its own territory. And what does the world do? Nothing. It stands by, frozen, while aggressors move in. Russia, China, and Iran are not waiting. Theyโ€™re watching this power vacuum and moving fast to expand their influence. They want control of key trade routes, ports, and governments - and if the West doesnโ€™t act, they will succeed. Somaliland is the frontline - not just geographically, but politically. It stands between democracy and dictatorship. Berbera Port matters. It sits right at the entrance to the Gulf of Aden and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait - where nearly 12% of all global trade passes through. If Iranโ€™s militias or Chinaโ€™s navy gain a foothold there, it would be a disaster for global trade and security. The EU and its allies must step up. This is about more than loyalty to a democratic partner - itโ€™s about protecting our own interests. Recognizing Somaliland gives us a trusted ally, access to key intelligence, and a stable partner in a region where the West is losing ground. It would send a clear message: we stand with democracy, not chaos. Somalia, meanwhile, is collapsing. More than half its population lives in poverty, and its government does little to help. Somalia ranks last in Africa on the Human Development Index. Thatโ€™s not just a number - itโ€™s a failure of leadership. So why is the world still pretending Somalia should speak for Somaliland? Somaliland is already a nation in everything but name. It governs, it protects, and it builds. The only thing missing is the worldโ€™s recognition. Refusing to acknowledge Somaliland doesnโ€™t just insult its people - it empowers pirates, warlords, and hostile regimes. The West is running out of time. Iran is turning Yemen into a weapons base. China is expanding its reach. Ships are being harassed in the Red Sea. The signs couldnโ€™t be clearer. To ignore Somaliland is to invite chaos. To recognize it is to support peace, democracy, and a more secure future. The choice is obvious. The time is now.

Iโ€™m honestly shocked by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamudโ€™s words. He claimed Somaliland wants recognition just because Britain once colonized it. That is false completely false. Mr. President, let me teach you something real. Somalilandโ€™s demand for independence isnโ€™t about colonial history, itโ€™s about justice, democracy, and dignity. The so-called 1960 Act of Union between Somaliland and Somalia was never properly ratified. Its validity has always been questionable, and Somaliland has every right to reclaim what was freely given and freely can be taken back. For more than 30 years, Somaliland has built something Somalia still struggles to achieve: a stable, democratic, and peaceful nation. Somaliland held five presidential elections, local council elections, and a constitutional referendum. Somaliland people elect their leaders through the will of the people not through clan deals or chaos. Somaliland has defended its land from terrorists, protected its shores from pirates, and stood tall on its own two feet while the world looked away. Somaliland people just want to breathe the air of freedom theyโ€™ve already earned. So, Mr. President of Somalia, how dare you belittle that? Do you even understand what โ€œunionโ€ means? Or do you think pretending to be a modern-day Abraham Lincoln will make the world believe your story? Tell us one thing youโ€™ve done that has truly changed your peopleโ€™s lives for the better. Just one. You canโ€™t , because there isnโ€™t one. Thatโ€™s exactly why Somaliland and its people will never give up their rightful path to reclaim their independence.

This is a gross violation of partial lifting of arms embargo on Somalia ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ด. #Somaliland on its part must arm itself to thawrth Somalia's ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ด impending invasion of The Republic of Somaliland, purportedly, planned, financed and fully supported by Egypt ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌ and Turkey ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท; with thier second shipment of military shipments this week to Somalia. Furthermore, Somaliland government must request from Taiwan ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ผ and Ethiopia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น to rush arms to Somaliland. Two foreign policy objectives that I don't under why Somaliland did peruse is mind-boggling to many Somalilanders. Firstly, why do we have to keep Turkish ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท Consulate open in Hargeisa, Somaliland, secondly, what prevents Taiwan ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ผ from supplying arms to Somaliland. Well, we have to keep in mind that Somalia ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ด with this new military equipment from Egypt ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌ and Turkey ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท, enables invade Somaliland. Taiwanese reluctance to supply defense arms to Somaliland to protect its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity would cause Somaliland and Taiwanese relationship the thing of the past. Furthermore, Ethiopiaโ€™s ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น national security interest are closely linked with #Somaliland's independence sovereignty and territorial integrity as such, would not allow #Somaliland become a war zone vis ร  vis Egypt and Turkey arming our archenemy. In conclusion, what current Somalilandโ€™s government must do is to initiate a bold diplomat move to seek military assistance from her friends including UAE ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช, Ethiopia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น, and Taiwan ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ผ.

In the corridors of Westminster, momentum is building for a decision that could reshape the Horn of Africa: the formal recognition of Somaliland as an independent state. A representative of His Majestyโ€™s Government recently remarked in conversation that the issue is taking on renewed urgency. At least ten prominent British parliamentarians and peersโ€”both past and presentโ€”have publicly expressed their support for #Somaliland in recent years. Political Heavyweights Leading the charge is Sir Sir Gavin Williamson CBE MP MP (Conservative), MP for Stone, Great Wyrley & Penkridge, and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (#APPG) on Somaliland. Williamsonโ€™s advocacy has become the most visible symbol of Westminsterโ€™s growing awareness that #Somaliland deserves recognition. Joining him are figures such as Kim Johnson (The Labour Party Ireland), Co-Chair of the APPG and MP for Liverpool Riverside, and the ever-eminent Tom Tugendhat MP (Conservative), a respected voice on foreign affairs. The support extends into the House of Lords, with Lord (Edward) Julian Udny-Lister, a life peer and officer of the APPG, and David Howell of Guildford, who pressed the case during an October 2024 Lords debate. Former ministers and members of UK House of Commons have also added their weight: Zac Goldsmith, who openly called for recognition; Tim Loughton, who rallied a cross-party group of 15 MPs to push the Government; Stephen Doughty HC MP, who led delegations to Somaliland; and Paul Blomfield, the former The Labour Party MP who consistently raised Somaliland in #Commons debates until he stepped down in May 2024. This list represents more than isolated goodwill. It signals a cross-party consensus that Somalilandโ€™s case is legitimate, long-standing, and increasingly unavoidable. The Race Against Time For many in #Westminster, the urgency is geopolitical. There is a real fear that #Britain could be outflanked by the United States if Donald J. Trumpโ€”moves first on recognition. This most exquisitely spoken Mandarin bluntly put it, โ€œThe UK cannot afford to be Trumped on Somaliland.โ€ This sense of urgency is more than political maneuvering. It reflects Somalilandโ€™s unique position: a functioning democracy in a region beset by instability, a partner on counterterrorism, and a former British protectorate whose independence was already once recognized. The Forgotten Independence of 1960 Somalilandโ€™s story is not one of secession, but of interrupted sovereignty. On 26 June 1960, Somaliland achieved independence from Britain. Within days, more than 30 countriesโ€”including the UK, the US, Israel, Egypt, Ethiopia, and all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Councilโ€”formally recognized it. Crucially, #Somaliland was admitted to the United Nations as a full member on the very day of independence, under UN Resolution 141 (1960). Diplomatic notes were exchanged with the UK, and sovereign relations established. Five days later, in an ambitious but ill-fated experiment, Somaliland entered a union with the former Trust Territory of Somalia. But the union was never legally sound: Somaliland passed a โ€œUnion of Somaliland and Somalia Lawโ€ on 27 June 1960. Somalia passed a different โ€œAct of Unionโ€ on 30 June. The two texts did not match and were never harmonized. Somalilandโ€™s legislature never ratified the provisional Somali constitution. No valid treaty of union was ever deposited at the #UN, as required by Article 102 of the UN Charter. Yet, on 1 July 1960, Somalia presented itself to the world as the โ€œcontinuationโ€ of both states, effectively absorbing "impersonating," Somalilandโ€™s independent UN membership. To many legal scholars, this amounted to a theft of sovereignty. Somalilandโ€™s statehood was not legally dissolved, but politically sidelined. Impersonated at the UN What followed was decades of instability under the unified Republic of Somalia. The Somali state collapsed into civil war in 1991. From that moment, Somaliland quietly reasserted the independence it had briefly held in 1960. It built its own government, constitution, currency, judiciary, and armed forces. It has held multiple competitive elections judged free and fair by international observers. Unlike Mogadishu, which has struggled #terrorism, #piracy, and foreign interventions, #Somaliland has maintained relative peace and stability. It has acted as a de facto sovereign state for over three decades, yet remains unrecognized in the international systemโ€”a paradox born of a union that never legally existed. Why Recognition Matters Now Recognition is more than symbolism. It would unlock access to international financing, formalize Somalilandโ€™s role as a regional security partner, and strengthen the UKโ€™s diplomatic influence in the Horn of Africa. Critically, it would also correct a historical wrong. #Somaliland was recognized once already, its #UN membership unjustly erased without due process. Unlike other self-determination cases, #Somaliland is not seeking to break away from Somaliaโ€”it is seeking to restore its rightful, documented independence. A Time For Action In Westminster, the message is increasingly clear: the UK has a unique responsibility and a strategic opportunity. By moving first, #London would reaffirm historic ties, correct a legal injustice, and secure an ally in one of the worldโ€™s most volatile regions. As one 'parliamentarian told me: โ€œSomaliland has done everything asked of itโ€”peace, democracy, stability. It is time #Britain did the right thing. Recognition is not just an option; it is an obligation.โ€ For #Somaliland, the wait has already lasted 64 years. The question is no longer whether recognition is deserved, but whether Britain will finally step forwardโ€”or allow history to repeat itself, with others leading the way. Somalilanders (video clip) "Last, week: It truly pained me to see that only one flag was missing among those of the Commonwealth countries hanging in Westminster, London โ€” the flag of #Somaliland."

๐Ÿšจ#Breaking: Djibouti Offers Ethiopia Full Control of Port in Bid to Counter Somaliland Djibouti's Foreign Minister, Mahmoud Ali Youssef ( Mahmoud Ali youssouf ), has proposed granting Ethiopia 100% control of the port of Tajourah, along with a new corridor leading to the port, as a solution to Ethiopia's lack of sea access. In an interview with the BBC, Youssef stated that the proposal, which includes a newly constructed corridor connecting the port to the Ethiopian border, aims to resolve Ethiopia's longstanding issue of accessing the sea. He indicated that President Ismail Oma Geela will discuss the proposal with leaders from Somalia and Ethiopia during the upcoming China-Africa summit next week. The proposal comes amidst heightened tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia over the recent agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland, which Somalia vehemently opposes. Djibouti, meanwhile, is engaged in an economic war with Somaliland, aiming to hinder its economic growth and international recognition. Youssef believes this proposal could create a win-win situation for all parties involved. However, the proposal is primarily aimed at strengthening Djibouti's economic dominance over Ethiopia, while simultaneously bolstering Somalia's claims to Somaliland and hindering its recognition. The potential impact of this proposal on Somaliland's economic growth and its pursuit of international recognition remains a key concern. In both cases, whether an agreement is reached between Ethiopia and #Somaliland or between #Djibouti and #Ethiopia for access to the sea, Ethiopia may achieve its goals, leaving Somaliland in opposition to both Somalia and Djibouti.

Victor Gao is the former translator for Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping. Now Vice President of the Beijing-based Centre for China and Globalisation, he gained international prominence following a viral interview with Cathy Newman of Channel 4 in the heat of the US trade war with China. Speaking at the inaugural session of the International Security Conference on Africa (ISCA), held in Kigali, Rwanda in June 2025, Gao elicited thunderous applause from the audience when he remarked that Africa should be free to use its own judgment to determine which country between China and the US works best as its development and trading partner. Hereโ€™s how he put it: โ€œThe real choice for Africa, as well as for the rest of mankind, is whether the United States is doing the right thing or is doing the wrong thing or whether China is doing the right thing or doing the wrong thing. If the United States is doing the right thing, work with the United States. But if the United States is doing the wrong thing, why should you bother about working with the United States or following its leadership? Similarly, if China is doing the right thing, why don't you want to work with China? And God forbid, if China is doing the wrong thing, why should you work with China? That means African countries, people in Africa, need to use their own brain power to make a decision first, whether this country or that country is doing the right thing or the wrong thing. Don't be forced by any other country to make a choice which will not serve your fundamental interests.โ€

THIS YOU WILL NEVER LEARN IN SCHOOL We must get this continent back to life. ยฐ Africa area = 30,37 million km2 ยฐ China area = 9,6 million km2 ยฐ US area = 9,8 million km2 ยฐ Europa area = 10,18 million km2 โ— Africa is bigger than all of Europe, China and the United States of America together. โ— But on most world maps, Africa is represented in downsize. This is deliberately done to create the visual effect of a small Africa to manipulate, brainwash, and deceive Africans wherever they are: - Africa has 60 % arable land; - Africa owns 90 % of raw material reserve; - Africa owns 40 % of the global gold reserve; - Africa, 33 % of diamond reserve; - Africa has 80 % of Coltan's global reserve (mineral for telephone and electronics production), mainly in the Democratic Republic of Congo. - Africa has 60 % of global cobalt reserve (mineral for car battery manufacture) - Africa is rich in oil and natural gas. - Africa (Namibia) has the world's richest fish coastline. - Africa is rich in manganese, iron and wood. - Africa is three times the area of China, three times the area of Europe, three times the United States of America. - Africa has thirty-half million km2 (30 875 415 km2); - Africa has 1,3 billion inhabitants (China has 1,4 billion inhabitants in 9,6 million km2). Which means Africa is SUBPOPULATED. -The arable lands of the Democratic Republic of Congo are capable of feeding all of Africa. And all of Africa's arable land is a cord to feed the whole world. - The Democratic Republic of Congo has important rivers that can illuminate Africa. The problem is that the CIA, western companies and some African puppets have destabilized DRC for decades. - Africa is a culturally diverse continent in terms of dance, music, architecture, sculpture, etc. - Africa accommodates 30.000 medicinal recipes and herbs that the West modifies in its laboratories. - Africa has a young global population that should reach 2,5 billion by the year 2050. โ— AFRICA REPRESENTS THE FUTURE OF HUMANITYโ€ผ๏ธ
