![Minnesota fraud scandal takes absurd new twist as veteran blows whistle | Peter Pinedo, Fox News Navy veteran and GOP Senate candidate Adam Schwarze is blowing the whistle on new voter fraud evidence uncovered in the state of Minnesota. What tipped him off? The state says that he voted in person at the polls in the 2012 presidential election. The only problem is that Schwarze says that "it was physically impossible for that to occur." Schwarze said that at the time he was nearly 2,000 miles away in the California mountains attending BUD/S, the Navyโs elite training course for SEALs. In fact, Schwarze recalled "I got my a-- beat" specifically for not voting. "All the instructors, the morning after the election, we woke up, Obama won the election, and they said, โWho didn't do their absentee voting?โ And of course it was like a gotcha, none of the SEAL candidates had gone to do their absentee voting. We were all in SEAL training, right? So, they beat the snot out of us for three hours." Despite this, Minnesota state records reviewed by Fox News Digital indicate Schwarze voted in 2012. The records, however, do not say who he supposedly cast a ballot for. This has led Schwarze to raise serious voter fraud questions in the already-scandal-ridden state and ask if it happened to him, how many others have "voted" without knowing it. Minnesota does not require ID to vote, something that Schwarze believes would have made it easy to vote under his name in 2012. He was completely oblivious to this fraud against him until he launched his Senate campaign. After a reporter fact-checked him for saying he had only ever voted for President Donald Trump, he was shocked to find that records on the Minnesota Department of State's website indeed indicate he voted in person in 2012. Further, records indicate an unknown person registered him to vote the day of the 2009 Minneapolis mayoral election, which was the cityโs first election using ranked choice voting. His voter registration became active the day after the 2009 Minneapolis mayoral election. In response to Fox News Digital's request for clarification on Schwarze's voting record, a spokesperson for the office of Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon simply said that "Minnesotaโs election system is governed by extensive state and federal laws to ensure it is honest, secure, and accurate." "Minnesotans fundamentally trust our election system, which is why we are consistently number one in voter turnout," the spokesperson said, adding that "In 2026, Minnesota ranked #1 by Election Data and Science Lab at the MIT on the Election Performance Index is a non-partisan, biennial survey and analysis comparing election administration policy and performance across the country." The spokesperson encouraged "anyone who wants to learn more about the election security measures in Minnesota" to visit the state's election security webpage. The website also asserts that "Minnesota elections are the envy of the nation," and states, "We are proud of our strong voter turnout, laws that ensure access to the ballot, robust security measures, and the transparency that's an essential part of maintaining trust in the system." Meanwhile, Schwarze believes that this shows that "just like the fraud goes back decades, so does the voter integrity issues." Schwarze commissioned as a Navy officer in May 2012. He was sent to Naval Amphibious Base Coronado for training the next month. Fox News Digital reviewed a copy of Schwarzeโs BUD/S orders, which show his report date for the roughly six-month course as June 12, putting his graduation from the course in December. Come November, when the presidential election took place, Schwarze said: "I was on a mountain in Mount Laguna, California." "It was physically impossible for that [vote] to occur," he said. This comes after Minnesota has been rocked by a widespread Medicaid fraud scandal that was uncovered earlier this year and potentially amounted to billions of stolen tax dollars. Minnesotaโs top leaders, including Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, who is also running for the U.S. Senate, have been criticized nationwide for having allowed the fraud to spiral out of control during their watch. To Schwarze, the tax and election fraud go hand in hand. "The fraud of your tax dollars is not happening in a vacuum. It's connected to other forms of fraud, like election integrity," he said. "Just like the fraud is an iceberg, the tax fraud, once we start rolling that iceberg over, we don't know how big it gets until we fully investigate it." "We just don't know how deep this goes," he continued. Since he discovered his mysterious vote, Schwarze said that his requests to state officials for more information have yet to be fulfilled. On July 11, 2007, the reporting agent received a lead referral from Special Agent IDCIS Mid-Atlantic Field Office regarding the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) initiated Operation Flicker. Operation Flicker is a nationwide investigation that has identified over 5,000 individuals that have subscribed to predicated child pornography websites. A list of individuals in New York State that are employed by the Department of Defense/U.S. Military, that have subscribed to websites that contain child pornographic images or other material that exploit children via the internet. 2. In April 2006, the ICE/Cyber Crimes Center/Child Exploitation Section (ICE/C3/CES) initiated an investigation into a criminal organization operating a commercial child pornography website known as "Home Collection." The investigation has revealed that the same organization is operating numerous commercial child pornography websites. In addition, the organization utilizes various Pay Pal accounts to process the payments for access to the member restricted areas of these websites. The investigation is being worked jointly with ICE/C3/CES, ICE/RAC/Birmingham, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the U.S. Department of Justice/Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, and the USAO for the Northern District of Alabama. ICE has designated this operation as PROJECT FLICKER. 3. ICE/C3/CES has conducted over 60 undercover transactions at the advertising websites associated with this investigation. The investigation has identified that a specific criminal organization is operating approximately 18 different commercial child pornography advertising websites which provide access to approximately 18 child pornography member restricted websites. 4. Among the 5,000 names ICE identified under Project Flicker, several individuals used their .mil e-mail address, Fleet Post Office (FPO), or Army Post Office (APO) military zip codes. Special Agent advised the U.S. Attorney's Office and ICE that the DCIS will assist in identifying any additional Department of Defense (DoD) affiliated individuals and provide any investigative assistance. 5. As a result of the database queries, 264 individuals affiliated with DoD were identified, including 39 individuals within the Eastern District of Virginia. Of those identified, 9 individuals possessed a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance, 13 possessed a Top Secret security clearance, 8 possessed a NATO Secret security clearance, 42 possessed a Secret security clearance, and 4 possessed an interim Secret security clearance. 6. The subject information containing DoD query results were divided by location and forwarded to the appropriate ICE and DCIS office for action. 17. This investigation is closed based upon the lack of participation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement to present the forensic evidence obtained during the course of the investigation to the U.S. Attorney's Office. This case may be re-opened if ICE presents this case for prosecution, and the U.S. Attorney's Office accepts this case for prosecution. YAHOO NEWS: News Report by John Cook September 3, 2010 Pentagon declined to investigate hundreds of purchases of child pornography. A 2006 Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigation into the purchase of child pornography online turned up more than 250 civilian and military employees of the Defense Department -- including some with the highest available security clearance -- who used credit cards or PayPal to purchase images of children in sexual situations. But the Pentagon investigated only a handful of the cases, Defense Department records show. The cases turned up during a 2006 ICE inquiry, called Project Flicker, which targeted overseas processing of child-porn payments. As part of the probe, ICE investigators gained access to the names and credit card information of more than 5,000 Americans who had subscribed to websites offering images of child pornography. Many of those individuals provided military email addresses or physical addresses with Army or fleet ZIP codes when they purchased the subscriptions. In a related inquiry, the Pentagon's Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) cross-checked the ICE list against military databases to come up with a list of Defense employees and contractors who appeared to be guilty of purchasing child pornography. The names included staffers for the secretary of defense, contractors for the ultra-secretive National Security Agency, and a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. But the DCIS opened investigations into only 20 percent of the individuals identified, and succeeded in prosecuting just a handful. The Boston Globe first reported the Pentagon's role in Project Flicker in July, citing DCIS investigative reports showing that at least 30 Defense Department employees were investigated. But new Project Flicker investigative reports obtained by The Upshot through the Freedom of Information Act, which you can read here, show that DCIS investigators identified 264 Defense employees or contractors who had purchased child pornography online. Astonishingly, nine of those had "Top Secret Sensitive Compartmentalized Information" security clearances, meaning they had access to the nation's most sensitive secrets. All told, 76 of the individuals had Secret or higher clearances. But DCIS investigated only 52 of the suspects, and just 10 were ever charged with viewing or purchasing child pornography. Without greater public disclosure of how these cases wound down, it's impossible to know how or whether any of the names listed in the Project Flicker papers came in for additional scrutiny. It's conceivable that some of them were picked up by local law enforcement, but it seems likely that most of the people flagged by the investigation did not have their military careers disrupted in the context of the DCIS inquiry. Among those charged were Gary Douglass Grant, a captain in the Army Reserves and a judge advocate general, or military prosecutor. After investigators executing a search warrant found child pornography on his computer, he pleaded guilty last year to state charges of possession of obscene matter of a minor in a sexual act in California. Others included contractors for the NSA with Top Secret clearances; one of them a former contractor fled the country after being indicted and is believed to be in Libya. But the vast majority of those investigated, including an active-duty lieutenant colonel in the Army and an official in the office of the secretary of defense, were never charged. On top of that, 212 people on ICE's list were never investigated at all. According to the records, DCIS prioritized the investigations by focusing on people who had security clearances since those who have a taste for child pornography can be vulnerable to blackmail and espionage. The documents show that the probe then concentrated on people who had been previously suspected of or convicted of sex crimes, or had access to children as part of their Defense Department duties. But at least some of the people on the Project Flicker list with security clearances were never pursued and could possibly remain on the job: DCIS only investigated 52 people, and 76 of those on the Project Flicker list had clearances. A DCIS spokesman didn't return phone calls. But the agency's own documents obtained via The Upshot's FOIA request indicate that the decision to press investigations forward hinged largely on questions of the resources available to the investigators. "Due to DCIS headquarters' direction and other DCIS investigative priorities, this investigation is cancelled" is a common summation in the files. A source familiar with the Project Flicker investigations who requested anonymity because public disclosure could jeopardize this person's job confirmed that departmental resources, and priorities, were decisive factors in letting inquiries lapse. DCIS is primarily tasked with rooting out contractor fraud and investigating security breaches; its 400 staffers were already plenty busy before Project Flicker dropped 264 more names onto their caseloads. And child pornography investigations are difficult to prosecute. Many judges wouldn't issue search warrants based on years-old evidence saying the targets subscribed to a kiddie porn website once. "We were stuck in a situation where we had some great information, but didn't have the resources to run with it," the source told The Upshot. Many of the investigative reports obtained by The Upshot end with a similar citation of scarce resources: Of course, other federal agencies, including ICE and the FBI, may have prosecuted some of the Project Flicker names the DCIS ignored. But that's unlikely, given that some of the DCIS investigations were closed due to lack of cooperation from ICE. In one case, involving an Army Reserve corporal in the Pittsburgh area, a DCIS agent expressed exasperation after repeatedly trying to get ICE to collaborate with him on the investigation: "Based upon the complete non-responsiveness of ICE ... it is recommended that the matter be closed." As for the 212 Project Flicker names that DCIS didn't investigate, the source familiar with the investigation said there was no systematic effort to inform their superiors or commanding officers of their suspected purchases of child pornography. As you may recall, Trooper John Fanning was the lead investigator in the Sandra Birchmore case where he and his investigators concluded that Birchmore committed suicide while allegedly pregnant with a fellow Police Officer, Matthew Farwellโs baby, and wasnโt the obvious victim of murder by that same Officer who also raped and groomed her from a young age as revealed by 30k+ text messages inexplicably โoverlookedโ by Trooper Nicholas Guarino & Fanning. The Feds investigated that โinvestigationโ too and have since indicted Matthew Farwell in Sandra Birchmoreโs murder. Additionally, Trooper Fanning was in one of Michael Proctorโs abhorrent group text message threads where he disparaged Karen Read. Fanning was subsequently internally investigated by MSP for this, and his failure to properly โsuperviseโ Trooper Proctorโinteresting that such a person would be chosen to โsuperviseโ the jury. In a statement from the State Police, they said: โThe Departmentโs internal affairs investigation determined that there was insufficient evidence to prove or disprove the allegation that Lieutenant Fanning violated rules and regulations by failing to uphold the responsibilities of a supervisory member. This allegation has been classified as unfounded.โ Frankly, given the circumstances of this case, it would be concerning if any member of the State Police oversaw and supervised the jury. Why was ANY member of the State Police supervising the jury? Has anyone ever heard of this beforeโPolice Officers from the same agency that investigated, testified against & was a part of the prosecution against a defendant having one of their personnel in charge of and in direct control of the jury? This canโt possibly be a standard practice due to the obvious existing conflict, no? Plus, were it standard protocol, then why wasnโt the defense made aware of this fact until 10 minutes before making closing argument, after a nearly 10 week long trial? โโโ Something majorly stinks about this, and perhaps it sheds some light on something peculiar that one of the deliberating jurors, who was recently interviewed by Aidan Kearney, kept saying in regard to the juryโs deliberative process. Specifically, something that stood out to me from juror Ronโs interview was his repeated use and references of the other jurorsโ use of the term โdistractorsโ to qualify or describe the abundant evidence representing โreasonable doubtโ brought out by the defense at trial. โDistractors.โ Itโs somewhat of a novel term, especially in this context, and is obviously antithetical to a juryโs duty to assess a case based on the proof beyond a reasonable doubt standard, which is inherently intertwined with an assessment of the existence of, or lack thereof, reasonable doubt. There was no evidence or instructions from the court that came out at trial directing jurors to view defense evidence or ARCCA experts, for instance, as โdistractors,โ and the jury is very specifically instructed not to view/consume/bring any outside information into their deliberations. In other words, if theyโre unsure who the ARCCA experts were there on behalf of (the Feds), theyโre specifically told not to โfill in the blankโ with information thatโs not there, or evidence that didnโt come in at trial. So where did the informationโthis use of the term โdistractorsโ come from? Who fed this term and this concept to the jury? The reason why it seems like it was โfedโ to the jury is because it goes against everything the court, Judge Beverly Cannone, instructed them on. So, what prompted the whole โdistractorsโ concept to taint the jurorsโ minds and deliberations? โโโ What immediately came to mind was the jury tampering by court clerk Becky Hill in the Alex Murdaugh murder trial. In that case, according to Murdaughโs attorneys, Ms. Hill โinvented a story about a Facebook post to remove a juror she believed might not vote guiltyโ. Judge Clifton Newman, who oversaw the murder trial, removed the female juror from the panel. According to the Murdaugh defense motion, Ms. Hill had gone to Judge Newman โ the day after Murdaugh testified, not long before closing arguments โ claiming that she had seen a post in the local Facebook group โWalterboro Word of Mouthโ from the jurorโs former husband, Tim Stone. The post purportedly claimed that the juror was drinking with her ex-husband and, when she became drunk, she expressed her views on whether Murdaugh was innocent or guilty. A follow-up post from an account called Timothy Stone apologised for the post saying that he was driven by โSatanโ. Murdaughโs attorneys claimed that the Mr. Stone behind the Facebook posts was actually a random Georgia man who was ranting about his wifeโs aunt โ and has no connection to the case. Additionally, information from jurors had come to the defenseโs attention about inappropriate comments supposedly made to them by Ms. Hill while she was โsupervisingโ themโthe same role as โsupervisorโ that Trooper John Fanning allegedly played in the Karen Read trial. In Murdaughโs case, the jurors were *actually* brought back into the court and were called to the stand one by one and questioned about potential comments that may have tainted their verdict. A female juror, identified only as juror Z, said that Ms. Hill had told some of the jurors to โwatch [Murdaugh] closely.โ โTo me, it felt like ... she made it feel like he was already guilty,โ juror Z said. A separate juror, Juror E, said that he heard Ms. Hill say โwatch [Murdaughโs] body languageโ, but claimed that this did not affect his decision. โโโ There were reports, at the time of the dismissal of the 3 defense-favorable jurors at Karen Readโs trial, that right before closing arguments, Trooper Fanning had reported the information responsible for dismissing these jurors to Judge Cannone. Among that information was reportedly a story about one of those jurors, claiming theyโd been overheard discussing the case while drinking at a bar (or something to that effect)โa story that sounded highly suspicious at the time, particularly given the fact that Trooper Fanning had allegedly had that information weeks before, but never reported it to the court. The similarity in Becky Hill and John Fanningโs โstoriesโ leading to the dismissal of defense-favorable jurors is rather uncanny. โโโ Is it not problematic to have individualsโwith conflicts of interest, who are also potential witnesses, and who seemingly have a vested interest in the outcome of the trialโbe in charge of overseeing and supervising the jury? Iโve attached the referenced MSP Internal Investigative Report for Trooper Fanning to this post (attached in the comments below). Whatโs troubling is that, despite acknowledging in their report that โthese allegations came to light on June 10, 2024, during the trial,โ they didnโt immediately initiate an internal investigation, but instead waited until AFTER the trial ended, July 3, 2024, to launch their internal investigation, almost as if they were planning on not initiating an investigation had Karen Read been convicted, because apparently in that case the misconduct wouldโve been justifiedโฆ or something? It should also be noted that this same practice was employed for most, if not all, of the other Police Officers in this case, whose misconduct was exposed by the defense throughout the prosecutionโs case at trialโwhereby, despite admissions and the existence of evidence of their misconduct, the MSP, NCDAO and Canton PD seemingly did everything they could to avoid initiating any investigations or holding their officers accountable for their misconduct until after the trial endedโwhen they could no longer justify not doing anything. It makes you wonder: Had Karen Read been convicted, do you think theyโd (the MSP, NCDAO or CPD) ever launch any internal investigations into the misconduct of their officers, as evidenced at trial, weeks before? โโโ It should be mentioned that in the Sandra Birchmore case, which Trooper Fanning led the investigation of, despite the Feds spoon feeding the State Police & NCDAO (DA Michael Morrisseyโs Office) overwhelming evidence + probable cause, in addition to punting the ball back to the state to do the right thing and charge Farwell with murderโa state level charge, theyโve refused to take any action to this day. In fact, not only has it now been nearly 6 months since the Feds apprehended & indicted Farwell, but the NCDAO, Fanning and the State Police, aside from taking no action, have made no statements and are still of the official position that Sandra Birchmore killed herself. To try to save face, the NCDAO, through its former spokesperson David Traub, tried to create the impression that the DAโs Office had been long working in collaboration with the Feds to secure an arrest in the Sandra Birchmore case, claiming that โtwo of [the NCDAO SPDUโs] detectives were present at the command post ... while federal authorities were attempting to take Matthew Farwell into custodyโโwhatever that means. This, of course, is patently absurd because the DAโs Office and State Police couldโve โsecured an arrestโ years agoโnobody was stopping them, but instead they framed Sandra Birchmore for her own murder. Spokesperson Traub then had the gall to say that โmuch of the information that they [federal authorities] built on originated with our investigation, including the collection of thousands of text messages.โ (See a collection of statements from the NCDAO on the Birchmore case from reporting over the years, attached in comments below). While the Feds might be somewhat playing along with this narrative, donโt be fooled. Perhaps itโs to appease the very individuals who theyโre investigating for the supposed coverup of Sandra Birchmoreโs murder. Why? If the Feds had actually been collaborating with the State Police investigators from the NCDAO who investigated Sandraโs death, then at the Fedsโ press conference announcing Farewellโs indictment, U.S. Attorney (at the time) Joshua Levy wouldnโt have feigned ignorance when asked who the lead investigator was on the case before his agency got involved (see clip 3 attached). Had the Feds actually been *collaborating* with the State Police & the DAโs Office, John Fanningโs name wouldโve been the first thing uttered out of Josh Levyโs mouth. On a side note: I think this is very telling. Does it mean the U.S. Attorneyโs Office is investigating Fanning? Who knows. But one thingโs for sure: Josh Levy 100% knew who the State Police lead investigator was and he deliberately avoided saying it. This observation is reflected in FBI Special Agent Chenee Castruitaโs 45-page long probable cause affidavit for the arrest of Matthew Farwell, which notably contains ZERO references whatsoever to John Fanning, or any of the other involved State Police investigators for that matter. Thatโs telling. If there was so much โcollaboration,โ like DA Michael Morrisseyโs Office wants the public to think, then not only would USA Josh Levy have had, at the very least, Trooper Fanning up there side-by-side with him at that press conference, but he wouldโve acknowledged him by name in his press conference. Why hasnโt the NCDAO charged disgraced former Stoughton cop Matthew Farwell with murder? Is it yet another case of โpinning it on the girlโ to cover up for fellow Police Officersโ crimes? โโโ Of note, Trooper Fanning grew up in Stoughton, graduating from Stoughton High School in 1998, the same year that Matthew and his twin brother Williamโwho also grew up in Stoughtonโthen 12 years old, became participants in the Stoughton police youth program. As Karen Read points out in the interview with Ted Daniels: โThere were familiarities among players that never shouldโve happened. Thereโs a sleeve of homicide in the Norfolk DAโs office, as there is in the other counties of Massachusetts. And yet, the person assigned to investigate this caseโostensibly investigate this caseโlives a mile down the street from the crime scene.โ (See clip 4 attached). Why is it that when thereโs seemingly crimesโin this case murders, involving cops, that the NCDAO SPDU appears to send the most conflicted Trooper with the closest ties to that cop/those cops? In Officer John OโKeefeโs murder, the Trooper that lives down the street from 34 Fairview and is โsecond familyโ with the Alberts is obviously the last person who shouldโve ever responded to that case, yet he was the lead investigator. Given Trooper John Fanningโs close ties to Stoughton, isnโt it interesting that heโs the one who was the lead investigator of Sandra Birchmoreโs deathโa murder that allegedly involved a former Stoughton cop?
