The Union of Palestinian Women’s Committee is a feminist organization that was founded in 1980 and aims at empowering women and fighting all kinds of discrimination. The Union was targeted by the military occupation multiple times including in 2022 and most recently in 2024 when all their offices got bombed. Donate now: The Sameer Project recently collaborated with the UPWC to launch the “Stitch & Story Initiative” that aims to empower women in Southern Gaza through training in traditional Palestinian hand embroidery. The initiative seeks to enhance their financial independence and provide a secure source of income amid difficult economic conditions. Additionally, it will help women overcome the psychological challenges they face, alleviating mental burdens through creative activities that foster stability, hope, and self-confidence. The initiative also aims to preserve national identity by promoting Palestinian heritage and traditional attire. 15 women will be trained and each one will receive a training kit containing embroidery tools and materials to start producing embroidered items. The kit includes: Aida cloth, fabrics, colored silk threads, fabric scissors, thread, scissors, thimble, embroidery needles, marking pen, chalk, notebook and pen, and embroidery accessories. The Union will work closely with the women for 6 months not only on stitching but also marketing and selling their work. This project will cost $15,000. Stitching in Arabic is called “tatreez” a tradition that has been inherited for generations. For decades, countless Muslim women suffered the injustice of instant talaq-e-biddat, where a husband could end a marriage by uttering “talaq” thrice, leaving wives abandoned and children separated from their mothers. The Saira Khan Case, a landmark legal battle, exposed this injustice when a courageous woman challenged her unilateral divorce and the right to live with her children. The case was presided over by Judge Swati Chauhan, whose pathbreaking judgment laid bare the conflict between archaic practices and modern constitutional rights. Under the current system, financial assistance of up to ₹1500 per cow per month is being provided for cow rearing, which is helping many rural families with supplementary income. At the same time, cow-based resources are being used to make organic manure, incense sticks, Panchgavya products, biogas, and other rural products. In Unnao, women from a self-help group even developed an eco-friendly and low-cost distemper paint from cow dung. For many farmers, this is creating an additional source of income alongside agriculture. If such models continue to become economically viable at scale, they can also help reduce the problem of stray cattle by giving rural families a practical incentive to maintain cows instead of abandoning them. Overall, it has the potential to support rural employment, organic farming, and more self-reliant villages in a practical and sustainable way. #GauDhanModelUP

If women are truly being exploited through human trafficking, forced prostitution, or other criminal networks, then this is not just a law enforcement issue. It is a serious social problem that demands attention. In many cases, women may not be there by choice. Some are trapped by poverty, deception, coercion, abuse, or human trafficking. That's why it's important not to jump to conclusions or judge individuals based solely on what appears in a video. Where there are genuine concerns about illegal activity, authorities should conduct fair and thorough investigations, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure that anyone who is a victim of exploitation receives protection, justice, and support. Transforming Lives, Transforming Nagpur Inaugurated the 'WhatsApp Ticketing Service' of Nagpur's 'Aapli Bus' and distributed 'Appointment Letters' to sanitation workers and other candidates along with the Hon Union Minister Nitin Gadkari ji in Nagpur, today. The World Bank has identified Nagpur as one of India's fastest-growing cities over the coming decade, underscoring the city's rapid infrastructure-led growth and future potential. As the city evolves into a globally competitive urban centre through world-class infrastructure and planned development, every effort will be made to ensure that its growth journey is backed by the resources needed to realise this vision without interruption. A truly future-ready city, is built not only through modern infrastructure but also by empowering the people who sustain it every day. A clean city is the foundation of a healthy society, and the dedication of sanitation workers is at the heart of that vision. Strengthening the workforce that keeps our cities clean, appointment letters were handed over to 579 candidates, including 476 sanitation workers appointed under the Lad-Page Committee recommendations and 103 candidates recruited through the direct recruitment process. Nagpur has also become the first municipal corporation in Maharashtra to introduce a free housing scheme for sanitation workers, providing 300 sq. ft. homes free of cost, with the option to avail larger homes by paying the additional construction cost. These initiatives reflect a firm commitment not only to keeping our cities clean and healthy, but also to improving the quality of life, dignity and welfare of those who work tirelessly to make it possible. FAKE FEMINISTS: Women's org celebrates man for International Women's Day You know, Canada used to produce real feminists. Women who actually fought for women. Women who risked their reputations, their safety, and sometimes even their freedom to win basic rights that seem obvious today. One of the most prominent examples of that fight happened right here in Canada with a group known as the “Famous Five.” In the 1920s, Emily Murphy, Nellie McClung, Henrietta Edwards, Louise McKinney and Irene Parlby took on the Canadian government over a simple but outrageous question: Were women legally considered “persons”? Yes. That was the actual legal question. At the time, women could not sit in the Senate because the law only allowed “qualified persons.” And according to the courts, that word did not include women. So, the Famous Five challenged the system. They fought their case all the way to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in Britain and in 1929 they won the historic Persons Case, which affirmed that women were indeed persons under the law. It was a foundational victory for women’s political rights in Canada. Their legacy is supposed to be about defending women as a distinct class with their own rights and interests. Which makes what just happened in Ottawa so astonishing. Because the Famous Five Foundation — the organization that claims to carry on the legacy of those women — has decided to honour a biological man. Not just any man. A man who has openly advocated for silencing women who defend women-only spaces. His name is Fae Johnstone, a prominent activist in Canada’s trans lobby. Through organizations like Queer Momentum and Wisdom2Action, groups that together receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in public and institutional funding, he has built a professional advocacy career pushing gender ideology into Canadian institutions and fighting against parents' rights. That advocacy often comes with a very clear message to women: fall in line or be shut up — or worse. Women who question whether female-only spaces, sports, shelters or prisons should remain female-only are routinely labelled hateful, bigoted or dangerous by activists in this movement and by Johnstone more specifically. In other words, women who try to defend the very rights that the Famous Five fought to establish are treated like enemies. And yet, somehow, the Famous Five Foundation in Ottawa decided this was the person worthy of recognition as part of International Women's Day. Think about the absurdity of that for a moment. The women who fought to have women recognized as persons are now being invoked to celebrate a man who believes womanhood is simply a matter of personal identification. A movement that once fought to define women as a legal and biological reality is now apparently comfortable honouring someone who insists those boundaries don’t exist at all. And this isn’t the first time institutions have tried to sell Canadians this idea. Johnstone was previously the keynote speaker at the YWCA Regina’s Women of Distinction Awards, another event meant to celebrate women’s achievements — but apparently now open to men who identify as women. At some point, we have to ask the obvious question: If awards for women keep going to men, what exactly is left that belongs to women? It’s institutional cowardice dressed up as progress. Real feminism used to mean defending women, even when it was unpopular. Even when powerful people didn’t like it. The Famous Five challenged the establishment because women were being erased from the definition of “persons.” Today, their legacy is being used to applaud the erasure of women from their own spaces. If Emily Murphy and Nellie McClung could see what their foundation is doing now, they would probably ask a very simple question: After everything we fought for… how did it come to this?
