A big day for Mizoram. Congratulations to our Mizo sisters and brothers on the occasion of the inauguration of the state's first railway line by PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji today. Mizoram, which suffered from the lack of roads and bridges during the Congress regime, has been connected through roads, railways, and airways by the Modi government. The first railway line and other development projects initiated today will set the state on an epoch-making journey towards progress and prosperity. My heartfelt gratitude to Modi Ji for his relentless efforts to build a developed and prosperous Mizoram.

The world’s tallest railway pier bridge is rising in Manipur! From the hills of Manipur, Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s vision for last-mile connectivity is taking shape. The Noney Bridge -141m high and 703m long, is being built at a cost of ₹650 crore as part of the ₹21,885 crore Jiribam–Imphal railway line. China is making another world-class wonder! It’s building a new high-speed railway into Xizang!!! The Sichuan-Xizang Railway is the most challenging railway project in human history. You can’t imagine how difficult to build a railway in such a harsh natural condition: The starting point of the line is only 300m above sea level, while terminal Lhasa is over 3,000m above sea level. The Nyingchi segment alone requires 47 tunnels and 121 bridges. One of the most challenging segments was the Milin tunnel with 10km length. The railway is tunneled through areas with high-temperature earth-crust. Factors like large temperature differences between day and night and severe weather are all challenges that China has to solve. And we made it!

A NEW RAILWAY CORRIDOR IS TAKING SHAPE ACROSS THE NORTH-WEST One of the most strategically important infrastructure projects transforming connectivity in Northern Nigeria is the Kaduna–Kano–Jigawa–Katsina–Maradi Standard Gauge Railway. Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration, the project has received renewed funding and accelerated implementation, with construction now advancing across the corridor. As of May 2026, the Federal Government reported that the project had reached approximately 60% completion, with delivery targeted for December 2027. The project is far more than a railway. It is a potential economic corridor connecting Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Katsina and Maradi in Niger Republic, creating opportunities for the movement of people, agricultural produce, raw materials and manufactured goods. Construction activities are already visible across the corridor, including bridge works, earthworks, track laying and major structural works. The Kano–Jigawa section alone spans approximately 104 kilometres, while the Kano–Dutse branch is also progressing. This is what infrastructure-led development looks like: connecting communities, opening markets and creating a modern transportation backbone for the North-West. The work continues. The longest tunnel will be 27 km long. The project will also include 100+ major bridges, with the highest elevation reaching 5,359 meters near Taglang La Pass, the highest point any railway line in the world has ever reached. The project is also estimated to be one of the most expensive in Indian Railways history, currently costing around ₹1.3 lakh crore. For comparison, the 500 km MAHSR was initially estimated around ₹1.1 lakh crore.
