Moreover, the PCG has secured the precise coordinates of a reported structure observed during yesterday's operations. These coordinates have enabled a thorough review of historical satellite imagery, confirming the presence of structural debris dating back at least two years. This verification underscores that the debris is longstanding and not indicative of recent construction. Consequently, the PCG's MDA flight was subjected to aggressive interference by forces from the People's Republic of China (PRC). Immediately following the low-altitude pass of a People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy helicopter directly beneath the PCG aircraft, a PLA Air Force Shenyang J-16 fighter jet was deployed to harass and endanger the safe flight path. Unfortunately, during this mission, the People's Republic of China (PRC) deployed an excessive force comprised of a total of forty (40) vessels including six (6) Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessels, three (3) People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) warships, in an attempt to obstruct our lawful humanitarian operation. There were also thirty-one (31) Chinese Maritime Militia (CMM) Vessels in the vicinity waters of Escoda Shoal. Such actions resulted in our two 44-meter Multi-Role Response Vessels (MRRV) being unable to safely deliver essential supplies, including a special ice cream treat from the Commandant in honor of National Heroes’ Day. The PCG remains steadfast in our commitment to uphold national interests and ensure the safety and security of our waters. These reckless actions not only posed a direct threat to the safety of navigation of PS35, but also violated the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs). The Armed Forces of the Philippines expresses its serious concern over these irresponsible actions by Chinese maritime forces. Such threatening and provocative conduct can lead to misunderstanding that may escalate tensions and impact regional stability. We commend the professionalism, discipline and restraint of the Philippine Navy personnel aboard BRP Emilio Jacinto.
