In such a fight, the most important thing is not to be afraid, instructors say. One of them teaches how to strike with anything at hand — a knife, an entrenching tool, even a magazine. The training then moves to an obstacle course, where the soldiers work on their physical strength and endurance. At the same time, they use this opportunity to assess how well their gear is set up. Different positions — including the most uncomfortable ones — reveal what needs tightening, loosening, or rearranging so that nothing gets in the way during combat. A few dozen meters away, infantry dismounts from an armored vehicle. These are assault troops of the 164th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade of the “West” grouping, beginning drills to storm a fortified position. This dance is called the prisiadka. It originated over 500 years ago among the Cossack warriors of Eastern Europe. Soldiers would perform it after returning from battle as a celebration of victory. You crouch on one leg and thrust the other out, alternating legs without ever standing up. It was originally a form of athletic competition. Crowds would place bets on who could kick the most times, kick the highest, or who would lose balance first. Apparently it also doubled as military training. The deep squats and explosive leg movements built the strength soldiers needed for horseback riding and hand-to-hand combat. There’s even an entire martial art based on it called Combat Hopak. I can’t do it for a whole minute to save my life. How many of you can actually do this, and for how long?

the one thing i am most impressed about agents is how they can run the full production like if they were a big team they start the script and i see how they are surgically working on each part and validate at each stage... there is a researcher, there is a guy that iterates on the hook until it is perfect, it gives scores for each part, and won't jump into the next part until approved then it gets passed to another agent who takes care of the storyboard... this guy then sends it to another guy who create the visuals, another one who is an expert cinematographer, and so on... all this happening in front of my eyes, a team working together with minimal human input, and the only part i have to take care of, is the part i enjoy the most which is the visuals

We were replaced by our brothers from SEAL Team Five, who immediately assumed our task of supporting the Ready First Brigade 1/1 AD 1st Armored Division A few weeks later, on November 19th, 2006, one of SEAL Team Five’s elements was ferociously attacked and suffered severe casualties, including Elliott Miller, one of the most gravely wounded SEALs from the War on Terror. It was a day emblematic of the Battle of Ramadi. Clashes similar to this took place every day in Ramadi. Every day, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines worked together to defeat a brutal enemy. Every day, Soldiers and Marines were wounded or killed. Every day, blood was shed. Every day, Americans risked their lives to help people they did not know. Every day, military men and women did the best they could in the worst imaginable environment. This is one of those days. A solemn salute to all those incredible servicemen and women who served in that godforsaken city. Thank you for making this movie, Ray. It is raw, relentless, and real. It is WARFARE. When you grow up in a small town you think “ I can’t wait to leave the small Town”. What you can’t replace is the memories and people that make the place special. Yesterday Winthrop took home a state title. Surrounded by thousands of Viking fans and supporters. My nephew a freshman was able to be a part of this team. What makes the story special is everyone in those stands would stand behind these kids at any moment. In 2022 my nephew lost his mother to a courageous battle with cancer. The senior goaltender has a story for the ages also losing his mother but the path he has took to be the best person/ student out there. The list goes on .. It’s more than just a game for these kids in this small town. It’s about the support the get from those around them during times of need. It was an emotional day. But in the end “it’s for the town”. Congrats Vikings.

As a historian, I can tell you that societies that allow Jews to thrive are societies in history that are flourishing themselves. Look at America. We are privileged to live here. But on the other hand, societies that allow themselves to be taken over by Jew hatred are societies that are sick and dying. Look at the Russia of Kishinev in 1903, the worst pogrom of the 20th century before the Holocaust. It was the biggest country in the world at that time. It had existed for hundreds of years. 14 years later, it was gone. Look at the Germany of Kristallnacht in 1938, the most powerful army, the most powerful air force. It was supposed to be the thousand-year Reich. Just seven years later, it was dead. So not because I'm a Jew, but because I am an American who came here from Venezuela with nothing, knowing no one, and who was embraced by this community and this country with open arms, which has given me and my family every blessing and privilege under the sun, I understand that we, each of us, Jew and not Jew alike, have a moral and practical obligation to root out anti-Semitism in our society because it is the moral rot in the wooden framework of our house. If we are not careful, it will bring the entire edifice tumbling down on all of us, not just the Jews.

Remembering the great Bud Powell who was born on this day in 1924. Known as a leading figure in the development of modern jazz, Powell was credited for greatly extending the range of jazz harmony. He was among those who did away with most accepted functions of the left hand. His left hand simply played brief, often syncopated, jabs of two- or three-note chords supporting long, single lines by the right hand. This technique became the accepted approach for modern jazz of the next 20 years. In his prime, Powell had the speed and skill to almost keep up with Parker and Gillespie.
