Tayebur Rahman, Raju Rahman, and Afzal Haque of the toto union are also preventing them from even parking their vehicles at the toto stand. Therefore, these toto drivers are protesting by lying down on the road. They are clearly stating that their only crime is joining the BJP, and that being Hindu is also considered a crime. In this way, TMC is attacking the livelihoods of the people of the state in every region. They are attacking opposition party workers and obstructing their means of earning a living. Is this what democracy in West Bengal looks like? Are these toto drivers not Bengalis? TMC, which calls itself the party of Bengal and Bengalis, is attacking Bengali toto drivers and their livelihoods!

This should frighten everyone, but it really should make you WAKE UP. I’ve heard this same sort of playing with the first of amendment over the last couple months… The word democracy is in Greek roots meaning “rule by the people” so a government for the people by the people. These people r telling us in plain sight… They want to control the narrative and if it dosent fit into theirs…That pesky thing..the first amendment is a “privilege” Freedom of speech is the cornerstone of a democracy. How are people in the same voices calling for democracy..seemingly pushing for making the cornerstone of democracy a “privilege”

Look at the arrogance of the architects of 4 April, 1979. On the same day, 47 years ago, the same arrogance burt Quran, threw it in toilets, burnt hundreds of libraries & houses of people of Kashmir. And today, on the floor of the house, the same arrogance is tagging an MLA (Waheed Ur Rehman Para) as Militant. What a dangerous precedent she is setting & what a dreadful lot of people sitting & happily cheering their leader who just wants to convey that more than 2 lakh people in the Parliament elections & 28,000 in assembly elections from Pulwama voted for a Militant. This is how the NC treats the youth of Kashmir, even if he is an MLA. It is their long-used modus operandi to choke the voice they fear. Now, Imagine what they will be telling Delhi about the youth of Kashmir. NC is literally the biggest threat to the youth of Kashmir. May God save us.

That means that 30% of the population, living under the largest propaganda machine we have ever seen, looked at all of it and said no. Those are not apathetic people! Those are people who stood their ground. And then consider how many of the 70% did it under duress, under threat of losing their jobs. If half of them didn't want to, the picture changes considerably. Andrew reminded me that democracy comes from the Greek: demos, the people, kratos, the power. Power to the people. He asked how powerful the people of Europe feel right now, and the answer is they're scared of their governments. When people fear their government, that is tyranny. When governments fear their people, that is liberty. He said he's confident we're going to get there. There are a lot of us and very few of them, and they are not, he said, intrinsically brave people. I'm looking forward to continuing to build alongside people like Andrew Bridgen .
