PUNCH Online gathered that the deceased was also said to have had his hair forcefully shaved by his assailants after he was reportedly caught with the stolen mobile phone. Our correspondent learnt from a source in the school who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter that the deceased was beaten from 6pm on Friday to about 10am on Saturday. “They said they caught him with a stolen phone. He had come to the college two days ago to collect his TC for higher studies. He met the Principal, Dr. Marke Poloneyes, for the document. The student alleged that the principal tried to force him and harassed him mentally and physically, demanding "unnatural sexual acts". On the night of July 7, the principal allegedly called the student to his room and forced him to undress. To protect himself, the student resisted and, in self-defense, bit the principal’s private parts. The principal suffered bleeding and started screaming in pain. Hearing the commotion, students rushed to the room and found the principal in a naked state. The principal panicked and reportedly hid in the bathroom and later fled from the college. A school teacher allegedly hacked to death his wife and two children with a machete in Assam’s Dhemaji district on Wednesday morning, police said. The man’s eldest daughter, 13, was critically injured in the attack inside their house at Telam Bazar in Jonai town, they said. A police officer said the motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, but economic hardship is suspected. The deceased have been identified as Chinuara Begum (33), Shakil Ali (8) and five-year-old Rijika Begum. The injured daughter is undergoing treatment at a local hospital and her condition is stated to be critical, the officer said. The accused, an assistant teacher at Gamchuk Primary School, has been arrested and the machete seized from his residence, police said. He told reporters that he had carried out the act due to financial constraints. The school teacher claimed that he receives a salary of Rs 10,000 per month. A forensic team collected evidence from the residence and interrogation of the accused is underway, the officer said, adding, the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

A 60-year-old man died after falling into an open manhole on Khairani Road in Sakinaka on Thursday afternoon while civic drain maintenance work was underway. The deceased, identified as Aslam Sheikh, allegedly stepped into an uncovered manhole. According to eyewitnesses, three contractual workers had removed the manhole cover to carry out drain maintenance.
